I know I know... its going to make this place even busier and risk of selling out before 1pm...... But I need to speak up.... Ideals is an institution in Durham... it stays low key... but you cant miss it cause if you drive by when its open.. there is usually a like wrapped around the to the corner and beyond even 30 mins before the doors open. So keep that in mind... I like how they opened up the window a lil more to give a teaser to everyone who is patiently waiting in line and hangry of their works of delicious art! Yes you can see the grill going, the line cooks prepping your sandwich, than being cut and wrapped right infront of you while youre waiting in the long ass line hangry and mouth watering .... its a serious mind FK and tease and love it! lol My go to here is the Chopped Cheese with Garlic Mayo and extra hot peppers .. so damn good! Oh and guess what.. .they make their own bread inhouse and its amazing. Love the little shop they have inside with some hard to find canned seafood items! So if you come here...be prepared to wait inline like a black Friday deal and come semi hungry ... cause these sandos are filling as fuk... but you will be hangry waiting in line

Man, WHAT A SANDWICH! I got the chicken cutlet sandwich with prosciutto (Uncle Primo's Chicken…read moreCutlet), and it absolutely did not disappoint. Easily one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time!!! The chicken cutlet was delicious, the prosciutto added a great salty flavor, and the whole thing just worked. I would absolutely go back just for this sandwich. The only downside was the wait. We stood in line for about 45 minutes in the heat, and since it's a pretty small spot with no real waiting area, it can be a rough experience during the summer. There also wasn't any shade or any umbrellas, so standing outside for that long was definitely brutal (highly recommend they add a couple umbrellas or covering to help). That said... what a sandwich. The food was good enough that I'd happily come back and wait again. I'd just recommend going on a cooler day or being prepared to stand outside for a while.

As you enter there is a sign that tells you to go look at the menu board, pick out your drink, and go back to the counter to order. I grabbed a diet coke, and ordered a Common Cobb. I was a bit surprise when my total came to $18, as my salad was only $14 but I guess I should have paid attention that my bottle of soda was over $3. How much are the fountain drinks, I wonder? I found us a table inside since it was a bit hot that day (there is also plenty of seating outside AND inside if you go downstairs). The table and floor were messy but someone quickly came to clean it for me. They called our names over the loudspeaker and my best friend went to go get our food. She got the MotherClucker. Our food was REALLY good. If you like Cobb salad, you will definitely like this one. The chicken was pan seared perfectly, the vinaigrette was perfectly tangy and the bleu cheese was especially excellent. My friend's chicken sandwich has SO MUCH chicken salad on it. Impressive. There was so many neat items to see in the place. The murals were great, there were some cute retail spaces, a coffee bar up front, a bar downstairs, and ice cream outside! Unfortunately my bestie and I had too much to talk about so we didn't check it out as much as I otherwise wood. I would definitely try this place again!

The sandwiches were packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and the bread was soft with just the right texture. The Clifford's Cutlet was crispy and delicious, while the McSteak was rich, cheesy, and seriously satisfying. And those chocolate chunk sea salt cookies? Absolutely phenomenal. Soft, gooey, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Everything arrived fresh, and I was already thinking about what I want to order next before I finished eating. If you're debating whether to try EASTCUT, do it. This was easily a 10/10 meal, and I'll definitely be ordering again.

Yelp told me this delicious sandwich shop was just 5 minutes away, which seemed like the perfect option. It was a hot summer day and I couldn't believe how many people were sitting outside in the heat. We got the last table in the air conditioned inside, which made me happy. We placed our orders at the counter: - The Jane for me - Pine Street Pimento for my daughter and a bag of chips (salt & vinegar for me) for both! We did the smaller size sandwiches which were still quite large, but we were quite hungry and finished them off. They were so good that I even thought about coming back for lunch the next day, but knew there were plenty of delicious restaurants in the area to try. However, i'll come again when back in the area!

They make cookies, pastries, breads (pan loaf and hand-formed ones), soups, hand pies, and sandwiches. The variety is amazing. During the holiday season, they offer larger pies and have various seasonal goods to offer. But what's also wonderful is this bakery gives back to the community in many ways. During the height of the pandemic, they offered free bagged lunch to anyone who needed one. They also were (are?) part of the pilot project for Durham's guaranteed income. It looks to me that the owners/company are concerned about being good citizens of the community and that's a great thing. These days, so many companies get bought out by private equity companies. I hope this bakery continues to be locally owned and operated! (Also, generally this bakery isn't offering the very fancy European/European-ish style pastries which is fine by me. The prices are very reasonable, possibly in part because they aren't trying to make their baked goods a "high end" item. There are other good local bakeries that offer "high end" pastries, but they are also much less affordable and for my taste, too rich.)

Not your traditional noodles, bao or gyoza but more like home made versions of Asian fare. I opted for the half salads because I like variety, dishes were served whenever they ready, which worked for us. The pepper salad was sweet yet flavorful, the squash salad even moreso, with a jicama-like texture topped with chili's, seeds and ground black sesame, The bao filling was saucy and sweet, the gyoza mixed with shrimp and chicken savory. Even though we were full we couldn't ignore desert, so split the passion fruit tres leches cake, which was fantastic. You can feel an intention here, as food is made with thought and creativity. I'm already planning my return. UPDATE: Returned the next day and tried the blue fish oni giri, katsu sando and spring rolls. All fantastic!

I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Friday. I recognize sometimes exact reservation times cannot be honored but I was a little concerned at how slow the service was and how crowded the already small space was. They could not really give us an idea of when we would be sat and so we had to just kind of shuffle around to keep trying to be out of the way. It took about 15 minutes before a table finally opened up and we were able to sit. From there, the service continued to be slow. I know the staff - both servers and kitchen - were working hard. I don't blame them as much as it feels like they are understaffed and stretched thin. Overall, it took a while for us to get our food, and we were all hangry by the time we had food. The servers were running around so it took a while whenever we needed something or ran out of water. The food itself surprised me. I know the menu was small and curated but I was actually surprised how little variety there was. And I don't know if I would consider this a vegan/vegetarian friendly place anymore. While they do have dishes and options, it is minimal. I got the pork and mushroom dumplings, pork bao bun, onigiri, and the housemade belt noodles. Both the dumplings and belt noodles were coated in a chili oil that made them almost inedible. And I like spicy! But this was too much. My favorite was the onigiri. Overall, between wait, service, quality, and price, I do not think I will be back.

My husband loves sandwiches more than any other food so we finally stopped in a few days ago. The building itself needs some help. Well, a lot of help. The inside and the outside could use a massive overhaul but I feel it's likely not necessary where they are located and the owners are clearly putting their money into amazing quality ingredients instead of aesthetics. The sandwiches we ordered were AMAZING! They definitely bake the bread fresh every day, the bread was absolute perfection. I also really liked their mayo and feel they must make it in house. I ordered a regular (8", I think) #1 which is the Italian. I loved it! I topped it with sweet peppers, banana peppers, and pickles. Chef's kiss! My husband ordered a giant hot roast beef sandwich which he is still raving about days later. We both took half of our sandwiches to go and were able to enjoy the other half for another meal.
