Located in the heart of Portree, it's easily accessible from the main area of town. We asked a local and they said the best Fish n Chips in town here so we decided to come. They also have breakfast and lunch so you can get meals any time of day here.
Side note on Portree, it is the main base a lot of people stay at in Isle of Skye. Because of this most restaurants are fully booked so make reservations ahead of time!
1820 is located in an old church that has been remodeled and it's 2 stories. You can get in without a reservation because it's a large place but be prepared to be asked to wait 20-30 minutes during busy times and they'll make you wait near the bar so you don't crowd the doorway.
Fish n chips: ordered one normal and another we asked to sub the peas with a salad, the fish was OK but smaller than other places and we ended up placing an order for another one though 2 orders is normally enough for our family of 4 to share. Note the side salad substitution for peas ask probably wasn't wise, it came with a laughably small amount.
Whisky: Very well priced here! I asked what their most expensive whiskey was and it as a 15 yr glenfidditch that only cost 8.5 quid for a dram! It was good and also asked the bartender for his favorite which was a Talisker that was more of a traditional Scottish whisky. read more
