Love the concept which allows for just-in-time delivery of your dishes, picked from an Ipad at your table. Mind you, this is not what "Hiro dreamed of", but it is 'AYCE' after all. What counts: the fish is fresh and the service is incredibly efficient for such a large surface. Worthy of praise: there is virtually no wait, even with a full restaurant on a Friday night. I also enjoyed the small size of the portions, which allowed sampling of many different dishes (which were pretty much all tasty). I always have trouble in a "Sushi Place" when it seems to be run by a bunch of trust fund Chinese kids, and this place was no different. It was techie and cutting corners on both servers and food yet somehow the pretense of the servers and cashier prevailed as if a 20% tip would be de rigueur. My mistake was on two occasions using this place for work lunches and both time it was below passable (That means you may get sick like I did). Tempura was soggy and menu uninspired. The quality and diversity of the seafood was low. I presume this has to do with what must be a colossal monthly rent and labor bill. I've been eating there on a weekly basis for years. The food has always been decent, and it offered great value. Increasingly, their sushi has smelled fishy, tasted funny, and looked off. My previous experience with this place was decent about 2 years ago. Today, I tried to give this place a chance hoping they improved. It turns out that they are even worse. They tried to charge one of my little ones as an adult pricing. Service was horrific, none of the waiters spoke a word or even tried to communicate with customers. So we went as a party of 6, on a busy night, okay, but they decided the best way to seat us would be to take an extra long table and split it into two in order fit our party and another group. What proceeded to happen the entire night was all of our orders went to the other table, so only about half of what we ordered came, plus a few that we didn't order. when we ordered sashimi, on our second round, he said we already hit out limit (uhhh at an all-you-can-eat?) even though the table next to our's had gotten at least 4 full platters of sashimi. When we brought it up to the waiter he just shrugged it off and didn't even apologize. So we kept ordering sashimi anyways but would get half of our order. We had to keep asking for more soy sauce and napkins which kept getting forgotten. What DID arrive was okay, definitely not the best. Terribly disappointing. Will not return. I love how you can order from an ipad but the service is super slow, kind of defeats the purpose of efficiency from the ipad ordering. It takes a while to get your next order or to get water refill. The food is mediocre at best however there are multiple choices. Might not come back until service is improved. Food is brought to you quickly but we have had to return it a few times for it being too dried out and just not worth the $25 per person they charge. Note pop or any drink is extra to the "all-inclusive buffet" and they have tried to charge us for refills on multiple occasions. I love this place! The decor and service is better here then the location on St. Laurent and the food options as well as the ability to see what you're ordering on the I-Pad are top notch. I have had times where I have waited upwards of 20 minutes for my food to arrive but once it did it never stopped. Great food and easy to order if you're a tech geek. I was tired when I went there with my wife, on her suggestion, and when the sweet wait person handed me the menu on a WiFi thingy, I felt intimidated like I did when I tried to do a ride called The Cake Walk, at a fair years ago. Pretty decent place for an AYCE. You order via iPad (super easy), hit submit order, a server will come by to put your order through and you will be eating within mins. Very fast service especially due to the size of the restaurant. Dinner was $25 pp. They brought out smaller serving sizes which I found helpful so you don't waste food. I love that this place has the iPad ordering service. Makes everything faster and easier with clear pictures. I give it 3 stars only because the service is not always the best. Servers either have good or bad days and I think I've been here more when they have bad days haha. Worst experience ever in a all you can eat type sushi restaurant. Tea was flavourless (hot water). Service was without any personality (no words, no eye contact, no acknowledgement or smile). Uh, no thanks? Bad fish. That miso soup was way too watery. I appreciated the DIY but the base was awful. Warm water, just like another reviewer mentioned that I saw. They are 100% right. I had to flag via ipad for a refill and then it was warm tap water. Yuuuum. Really filled out the experience. I feel bad for the servers. I think they were understaffed. I couldn't possibly have tipped well for that service, though. I waited for multiple things at different orders that never showed up. We asked server to get a clean one but never got any replacement. So DISGUSTING and the WORST attitude I've ever experienced.
