We returned to 15 Walnut Street for a sit down meal. Our experience with take out a few months ago had been subpar, but our in restaurant experience was excellent. We had a table that was nicely isolated, although the restaurant seating is not overly close and there are some booths. We felt very safe from the virus. There is also outside seating available. We ordered nachos as a main and the parm chicken hand held. Both were very good and super large although the nachos were quite generous. Both were very tasty. The service was fast and friendly. It was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was maybe one third full. I suspect weekend nights are busier. read more

Never had a bad meal here. I do have serious menu selection problems as EVERYTHING on their menu just seems so delicious. Favorites are probably the fried chicken, 15 walnut burger and the nachos. Fried chicken is seriously, to DIE for. They are also super accommodating with babies and kids and it makes it a pleasant meal for everyone. Even their kids menu is good!! read more

My wife and I have been going to 15 Walnut for over 8 years and always enjoyed the food and service. On 3/27 we had dinner and I tipped our server over 20%. A few days later I received a a notice from my credit card company that I had tipped over 42%, and they wanted to make sure it was correct. I called and spoke with someone. She pulled the slip and let me know I had in fact tipped only 20% but I totaled it incorrectly. When asked if they would rectify it, she said no, they only go by the total and can't be responsible for math errors on my part. I can't help but wonder if the math error was in my favor if that would have been the same answer. It really isn't about the money. The response from 15 Walnut was truly disappointing. Sadly, I will never dine here again. A quick update. I got a call this morning from the manager at 15 Walnut. She apologized up and down for how the situation was handled. They refunded the entire amount of the bill and offered to add points to our membership/rewards card. She was very gracious. I'm glad they reached out and tried to rectify the situation. The space is open and accommodating for dinner or drinks or both. The food and drinks were all a cut above the average pub. The wait staff and host were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the bartenders (all three) were surly at best. At one point, I thought perhaps it was a joke or skit to be uninterested, uncommunicative, and annoyed to customers. This place is excellent and I would recommend it to anybody. Portions are good snd they make everything fresh there. You can call and make a reservation and the customer service is outstanding. There menu is full of different items that you wouldn't see in other restaurants as well as prices ranging from low to moderate. They accommodate special orders and their goal is to make you happy. You are always asked if you need a refill; wait staff is very attentive. I've been here a couple of times and then brought my parents there twice. I'very never had a negative experience here. A great option for a small town. A fun and charming environment that has surprisingly a very nice selection of sushi. The beer options are always terrific. This was a wonderful night out..the drinks were great and the food was well executed... the portions were really good as opposed to the last times we ate there(part of why we stopped going there). But the server was really a pleasure. Marnie was easy to talk to and genuinely concerned and service oriented. She topped off the food and cocktails in an even more positive manner. 9/14/19 We have been back a few times and it's always been good. Food and drinks have been generally very good. Staff has been the star though . Tonight the bartender, Liam, was right on the money, remembered drinks, totally accommodating requests. But there was a guy helping out, I believe his name was Dan, was so great. When we left and we're almost to my car we heard someone shouting from behind us. He had seen that I left a sweatshirt on my chair and he chased us out to the parking lot to make sure I didn't leave without it. Kinda disappointed, I've always had good service but bartender sprayed beer all over me and offered a towel which was great but I declined and used my napkin saying it was fine. Regular customer next to me who was chatting with all the employees said "just go outside for a minute it'll wash right out" trying to be funny but really just being an ass. My first time here. I came here for a late lunch with my buddy after playing golf. We sat at the bar and the bartender/waiter was very responsive, engaging and social. I enjoyed the atmosphere overall. The place has various types of seating....large booths, smaller tables, larger tables for groups, high-tops and a few high back fabric chairs. I got the 15Walnut cheeseburger with fries and a margarita. Both the drink and the burger were great. My only complaint was that I am gluten free and instead of having gluten free rolls for the burger, they used gluten free sandwich bread. That aside, I will definitely go back. read more

Solid dinner spot! Came here a few weeks ago on a Sunday around 5 or 6 and was surprised to see it was actually sort of busy. We were sat at a high top which isn't my favorite, especially considering there were some more cozy tables with arm chairs, but I'll try to ask for that next time. I had the baked haddock with sweet potato fries and a side caesar. The haddock was delicious and fresh, the sides were just okay. Same thing with my boyfriend's meal, but he had fried haddock and that might have been even better than mine! We had the cookie skillet for dessert and wow was it good. Here is the thing. I went here last night and really liked the food and my partner's drink was excellent. I wanted to write a review and was reading past reviews. It's unfortunate the management has not addressed the apparent issue at the establishment; the service. We sat at the bar, the side furthest from the entry door. It was very dark for starters . There are lights above in the bar but do they not work? Now it's a Wednesday night. They had a nice steady business but it wasn't crazy busy. It took some time to be acknowledged by one of the bartenders. She gave us some menus and then went on her way. Another bartender came back and took our drink order and made our drinks. We put an app.order in and weren't quite ready to put in entrée. We got our appetizer and then no one came back to ever ask about our entrée. We finally flagged one of them down to say we wanted to order. Once the food arrived, that was pretty much it. We were never asked if we wanted another cocktail, if we needed anything else, nothing. We wanted to get dessert but were so annoyed at this point we changed our mind. The bartender that made our drinks seemed to have been pulled from the bar and the other woman kept ignoring us. At least this is how it felt to us. She checked on people to the right and left of us but glazed over us. I would want to try this place one more time and maybe sit at a table to see if the service is better but after reading the reviews, it seems like the same issues reside tableside. Such a sad disappointment for a Valentines dinner. Over cooked steak tips had to be sent back. The fact that the kitchen would send out these dry strips pretending to be steak is so sad to me. My haddock was clearly frozen, dry, unseasoned and hard around the edges. White fish should be moist and flaky, this was disgusting and inedible, although the Brussel sprouts and green beans were great! Everything arrived at room temperature or cooler, under seasoned and very under whelming. The manager did check in and replaced the tips. She seemed very nice but further complaints just wouldn't have been worth the effort. I've always loved this place but the last 3-4 times I've gone have been very disappointing. Horrible experience with takeout tonight. Our meal (2 burgers) took 40 minutes to make. That alone would be fine. When we opened the boxes at home the orders were wrong. I called and asked them to FIX and make us the correct order. They agreed and they told me I had to BRING THE WRONG BURGERS BACK?!?!?! Kitchen staff hungry???? In my youth I worked in restaurants and couldn't believe they were asking for the food back. I had no desire to keep it but, the principle/Holy health violations. Meanwhile they fixed our order which took another 30+ minutes. I brought the wrong burgers back, now well over an hour after I had planned to eat, and asked the manager: "Just curious why do you want these back? You can't serve them, so what are you going to do with them?" She (manager) said: "I was the one who bagged them and I could've sworn I didn't put in the wrong ones in". Me:"Okay well we can now agree that you did. And you didn't believe me & that's why you made me bring these back?". Manager: " Well...no....I....um...uhh" I finally get home to eat, now at 9PM, 2 hours after my original phone order. Aaand....order is wrong AGAIN! Ordered well done and they are cooked rare. We made a reservation early in the day . And arrived 15 min before and we seated on a big top bar table . The hostess said well this is all we have . We asked to be moved to a dinner table and she brought us to a cocktail table w 2 low couch chairs in front of the door . In the time we were trying to be seated she sat 3 booths w out reservations who were regulars .. If you are so busy that you don't give new customers a chance you will never grow your business. In addition we are customers of your restaurant group for years . So sad we will never be back read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME - we have tried to order takeout from this facility two weeks in a row - after waiting on the phone ("15 Walnut can hold") for approximately 10 minutes we opted to do something else - as we were getting ready to hang up they answered and then DROPPED THE CALL! Fast Forward to this past weekend (Sunday) and again same issue with the phone - waited and guess what - dropped call again! We have eaten in the restaurant previously and it was only marginal at best - that said they definetly need another phone line (or two!) if they are truly this busy! read more

A sense of warmth and hospitality greets you at the door. The lengthy bar with a few TVs does not distract from conversation at the booths and dining tables. While the menu offers basic American fare, the flavor and over quality of the meal is quite satisfying. Specialty drinks and sushi add to the unique experience. Prices are reasonable. More welcoming than a typical neighborhood destination, it certainly will draw locals who value catching up with good friends. read more

They have a small selection on their menu. The salad dressing was unique and delicious. The food items were good, but not stellar. The venue was beautiful. It has a great bar. There is lots of seating. The staff was very friendly. One thing to be aware of is there is a dance studio upstairs, so if there is a class you hear them stomping throughout dinner. read more

Our "go to" local place. Food is consistently good and our favorite bartender is here to greet us when we eat up at the bar. An updated "tavern" with fresh, local menu. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. If Gordon R has taught me anything it's that a confused menu is probably the result of a confused chef which is not usualy a good thing. The menu is an odd mix, sushi, steak, burgers, cheese boards.. the decor matches the menu, Art Deco lighting, colonial tables, Indy music in the back ground and tvs blaring sports. This is definitely the middle age parents I need to get out of the house with the kids type of place. The cheese board was well stocked with a variety of items which I thought supported the 20 price tag. I would have choose a sushi but they averaged about 15 per roll. I had the steak fries and was very happy. The steak was well season and perfectly cooked. I ate almost all the truffled fries before I even touched my steak The bar was a B+ but slightly over priced with most wine being about 13 a glass. The down fall here is atmosphere and the service. I would have enjoyed diner more if the lights were not so bright and the music was a little lower. It's hard to mix bar and sit down dinner in a comfortable space. The server while very nice was not together, we often waited for items and she forget requests. The service would be slightly less of an issue but the total of dinner came to about 130 dollars befor tip so with that price tag I'm expecting congruent service. Monday night was dollar oyster night, but by the time we arrived at 640 pm they were already out. read more

Had lunch here recently over the long Martin Luther King holiday weekend. It was cold outside, but warm and welcoming inside. Nice, comfortable seats and our waitress was lovely with a warm and spirited personality. I had the Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich, and my father had a chicken salad. Very nice waitress. She was friendly and knowledgeable. We waited a bit for our drinks and appetizer. We got the nachos with chicken and bacon - I could not find any bacon. I got the sushi - it was OKAY. Not horrible but not the best sushi I have had. Two meals were Luke warm. The third was plain cold and under cooked. They were very apologetic. They took a bit off of the bill. Our relatives bragged about the place before. Everyone was a little disappointed. This was my first visit to 15 Walnut. My first impression was not a good one. My husband and I entered the restaurant and stof at the hostess station for ten minutes while waitresses passed us by not even acknowledging us. The hostess stood at a table and talked to her friends the whole evening. We finally gave up on a table and sat at the bar. The wait staff was slow. The only person who worked or greeted is was the bartender with the beard and tattoos. He was great and helped us with the app on our phone. If it wasn't for him I would give the place one star. I think the manager should have all his workers follow this bartenders example. The food was good. read more

I've given this place a fair shake since and still just ok food wise. I don't go out to spend money or time on fair cuisine. Steak tips and chicken entree barely seasoned with bland tasting sides. The drinks are hit or miss even though the bartenders in place now are a huge improvement from past ones. It is annoying when the drink described doesn't come executed as such, for instance not putting a specialty rim on which is clearly to enhance the cocktail. There's regulars that gather around the bar leaning toward a waspy nature, diversity vacant. I think many people are used to a simple tasting meat and potato place which this falls under. The food sounds delicious on the menu but hits the table flat, unfortunately. For us, we won't be back because there's just too many others that cause you to crave their food. read more
