I can't recommend Dr Rook enough. I was first introduced to Dr Rook when I had to put down my beloved German Shepherd dog Gus. After spending about $1000 with other vets, to try and find out what was ailing Gus we had to make the difficult decision to euthanize him to stop his suffering. Dr Rook was sympathetic and very economical. He worked with us in every way possible. So, when, years later, I had to make a decision to try and save my rescue Jack Russel that had terrible dental problems I went back to Dr. Rook. I didn't hold out much hope that my beloved Bandit would survive. Not only did he survive but he did very well. Dr. Rook was sensitive that I had come nearly 100 miles from north Dallas area to assure that my precious pet would have the best chance to survive the extensive surgery, (16 tooth extraction). His staff worked with me on the timing and in every other way. It was a very difficult day for both of us. They were all wonderful. They even trimmed Bandits nails while he was asleep. Thank you. Dr. Rook and staff, for taking a difficult situation and turning it into happy ending. Rebecca Bailey Plano TX

I know people who bring their dogs here. This facility is perfect for updating vaccinations, but NOT for boarding. The cages are metal wire with no comfort for your pet. I picked mine up today after a 8 day stay due to a company vacation and ice storms delaying our pick up date. I am upset at the condition and lack of care my two dogs received. They looked sickly, had nails cracked and turned sideways, does on their elbows, sore on nose from cage, and dirty as if they stayed in a barn! I will pay the $45 a night pet dog next time at Petsmart.

This is the care my dog received at 14th Street Veterinary Clinic because he was put on a metal grate for 8 days. Terrible!!!!

It is a small establishment with a small staff, but they really do work as a team to provide the best possible care with no bullshit. Dr. Rook takes the time to listen and offers his advice with a confident grin and a firm handshake - exactly the reassuring approach I need to care for my big guy. He only pushes necessities but provides you with all of your options and explains why this or that will or will not work. A previous vet led me to believe that a tumor on his leg would be fatal in several months and wanted over $1200 for its removal - and that didn't include boarding for the operation. When he heard about that, Dr. Rook clarified that tumors can be fatal, but the one Kennedy had wasn't that serious. I dropped Kennedy off this morning and was quoted a price that both included boarding and was a fraction of the previously quoted amount ($250 .. Potentially $400 as we're removing 2 additional lumps). The office does not take care credit, but their prices are up front and low. If you don't have an appointment, expect to wait an hour or more. The wait is well worth the care provided. This was my 3rd visit. If the need arises after surgery, I won't hesitate to bring Kennedy to see Dr. Rook again.

They don't open til 8 am and supposedly you are not suppose to leave the parking lot after signin....thus you have to wait 2+hours before they open (and depending the time you signin). Trying to make an appointment is so difficult as appointments are 2 months out due to the popularity of Dr. Rook. There should be a better procedure than what is required, maybe appointments only could make things more smoothly for customers to get in to see the vet instead of the walk-in procedure signin requirements.

When I called this vet for a quote on pricing that is when I fell in love. They were very compassionate and helpful to getting an appointment set up and helping me understand the process. Once at the Animal Hospital we were given the option of doing the process in their yard or inside. With COVID still a thing it's a really hard to find a place that will let you come in and say goodbye to your animal. Once inside they were again very compassionate and explained the entire process to us. We were able to choose how sleepy we wanted our dog before the actual process took place. Once the sleepy shot was given they let us have some private time with our dog. They provided us with a wireless door bell to push once we were ready to say our finally goodbye. When the whole process was over they provided us with a clay paw imprint so that we could remember forever. The experience wasn't the only great part, the cost was also friendly for anyone on a budget. I was quoted $500 by veterinarians near me and only $205 here. In conclusion I highly recommend this vet. They have the best service, people, and affordable prices. If this is your first time I promise it won't be your last.

The staff makes notes about what you say on the phone with them because they can be used later against you. It seems like the staff doesn't believe what we tell them. We were accused of taking a script from the office when we never saw it. The staff thought we were lying and it made us uncomfortable and we felt like we couldn't trust them. They don't act professional. I was disappointed in them and saddened the day my Chihuahua died at the vet's office. On Tuesday, we noticed that our 13-year-old Chihuahua, Shorty, was not eating or drinking water, So we tried to make an appointment on Wednesday, but there were no appointments. we got the earliest appointment we could get which was at 7:30 on Thursday morning for Dr. Owen. That next day, my husband dropped Shorty off at the Vet's office at 7:20. Thirty minutes later I received a call from Dr. Owen at 8:05 apologizing because Shorty had passed away alone, in her pet carrier, in an exam room where she had been for 30 minutes. At least Sarah (the doctor mentioned her name) when she was working on the computer could have checked on her periodically and they could have gotten her out of the pet carrier. I would have stayed and held her if I'd known the Veterinarian wasn't going to be there until 8:00 am. Dr. Owen said she was very sorry, but it didn't help much. If you care about bringing your pets to an animal hospital that loves their animals, then I recommend going somewhere else. Animal Hospital of Ovilla does not care about your pets like it says on the website but only about their service fees!

I entrusted them with her aftercare, paid in full, and went above and beyond to make sure everything would be handled correctly. I called multiple times, sent messages, and even drove 45 minutes in person to clearly communicate my instructions, making sure her after life care was perfect. Nothing was vague. Nothing was left to assumption. I gave two simple, explicit directives: Save fur clippings from both her white fur AND a distinct brown/brindle patch that made her unique and unforgettable to me and do Not proceed with the cremation process without calling me first. They ignored both. They moved forward without contacting me and failed to preserve the brindle fur I specifically and repeatedly asked for. That decision is irreversible. There is no redo, no correction, and no way to get that piece of her back. Their explanation? Their "system was down." That is not an excuse, it is negligence. If your system is down, you do Not proceed with a permanent, irreversible process without verifying instructions. That is basic responsibility, especially in a business that handles people's beloved pets. What is even more disturbing is how this was handled afterward. Instead of accountability or genuine compassion, I was met with defensiveness, dismissiveness, and a complete lack of empathy by the manager on the shift of Tuesday July 7th. Believe his name is Mike. Any apology felt forced and only came after I had to push for it. This was Not just a service. This was my dog, my family. I showed up, I advocated, and I trusted them to do their job with care. They failed at a fundamental level. I paid for a service that was Not carried out as instructed. I expect a refund, along with real accountability, Not excuses. The owners has Not reached out hoping he does. I was given a name by "Nathan" to be the owner but from what I see the name is "Robert" idk what more lies they will tell. If you are considering Peaceful Pets, understand this: you can do everything right as a client, repeat your instructions, confirm in person, follow up multiple times and still be left with irreversible mistakes and no meaningful accountability. That is not a risk anyone should have to take when it comes to their family.
