My sweet little fur baby Cooper (dog)got a cat scratch to the eye when he was a puppy. We tried so hard to keep that eye for as long as we could,but finally the drops quit working. He developed glaucoma and a tumor behind the eye. I was scared that I might have to put him down because I couldn't afford surgery to take the eye out. Every visit has been wonderful, thorough, and quick. The prices are so easy to take care of. I've had many vets in several cities. The Other vet clinic nearby, charges for unnecessary costs just for a spay or neuter. It's not an issue here. Both docs, staff, and even other pet parents, are extremely focused on making sure we are all visiting for our fur babies. Always have great visits, we have a 14 yr old that has never seen a vet. Because of some daily meds, we are able to keep him comfy. Visits are booked, but walk-ins are available. Check their times. It's worth the wait to see this clinic. Docs understand all issues and if you listen, they've seen so much in the field. I learn something new every time I go in. Thanks for what you ALL do!! read more

My dog had surgery to remove a large tumor. She came through the surgery, but did have a complication. Dr. Rook kept me informed of all that happened and how he treated her. He was so kind and sincere and understanding! I bugged his staff several times a day for several days and they, too, we're very kind and patient with me. They accommodated me in every way and I can't tell you how grateful I am!! They are a great place to take your pet to receive the best, caring care!! I can't recommend Dr Rook enough. I was first introduced to Dr Rook when I had to put down my beloved German Shepherd dog Gus. After spending about $1000 with other vets, to try and find out what was ailing Gus we had to make the difficult decision to euthanize him to stop his suffering. Dr Rook was sympathetic and very economical. He worked with us in every way possible. So, when, years later, I had to make a decision to try and save my rescue Jack Russel that had terrible dental problems I went back to Dr. Rook. I didn't hold out much hope that my beloved Bandit would survive. Not only did he survive but he did very well. Dr. Rook was sensitive that I had come nearly 100 miles from north Dallas area to assure that my precious pet would have the best chance to survive the extensive surgery, (16 tooth extraction). His staff worked with me on the timing and in every other way. It was a very difficult day for both of us. They were all wonderful. They even trimmed Bandits nails while he was asleep. Thank you. I have been coming here to Dr.Rook and his staff for 3 years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I have been to various places in Arlington but I never felt fully satisfied or comfortable to continue my stay with them. The staff here are super friendly and inviting. They really do love their job and care for the safety and well-being of the animals. Dr.Rook is honest and compassionate which is what I look for in a vet. He makes me feel comfortable and explains everything that he does on my 8 year old Labrador Retriever. He doesn't push add-ons when I visit but recommends products that may help in the long run. I do trust his option and I trust all of the staff with the care of my trusty pal. They do not do appointments (except for surgerys etc.) so make sure to get in early because the line can be a wait, but know that it means a lot of people trust in their abilities. We have been long time clients of Dr. Rook. He has cared for our FFA pigs, rabbits and our two yellow Labs. With broken hearts this past Saturday we had to take our beloved 13 year old yellow Lab, Kramer, in to be put down. I know people who bring their dogs here. This facility is perfect for updating vaccinations, but NOT for boarding. The cages are metal wire with no comfort for your pet. I picked mine up today after a 8 day stay due to a company vacation and ice storms delaying our pick up date. I am upset at the condition and lack of care my two dogs received. They looked sickly, had nails cracked and turned sideways, does on their elbows, sore on nose from cage, and dirty as if they stayed in a barn! I will pay the $45 a night pet dog next time at Petsmart. read more

Troubled to know that this clinic is opened. My dog was quarantined for 8 days lost about 10 pounds, received lesions on both hind legs, had bad infection with over a 104 degree fever. They had him on a metal grate the whole time. During these 8 days...No calls to me. No communication when I stopped there on TWO occasions and actually stated he's fine. My vet was appalled and took $250.52 to attend to his wounds and care for him with several medications. They make me sick to what they did to my dog. I have pictures and its disgusting what he had to endure and he is still in pain because of them. Not a place to go. read more

If I could rate negative stars...I would. The vet said I would need medicine for my cats kidneys, because he ate something that apparently poisoned him (inside cat). I was told my cat would be fine with the medicine, but without the medicine he could die. He told me that he did not have the medicine in stock, but it would be there that afternoon. The medicine did not come in and I was told it would be in the next morning (Friday) for sure. I waited, it was not in Friday morning and did not come in Friday afternoon. Now, I'm freaking out and wanting to go to another vet but they assure me the medicine will be in Friday evening and my cat will be okay and he is fine. Friday evening comes the medicine still was not there... They tell me to go home the medicine definitely will be in today and they will call me to come up and pick it up "promised, no one will leave until I get my medicine" (Now I can't take him to another vet until Monday so I'm stuck. I checked with other vets including Cedar Hill vet and they are not taking new patients or there is a wait) It's Friday at 6:00pm I still haven't heard from anyone I call no one's answering. So, I drive up there and the door is locked and they are closed. I can see a truck on the side... so I start beating on the front door and nobody answers I go to the side door and beat on it and no one answered...have my son calling them on the phone. My sweet baby died at 2:00am Saturday morning. I bottle fed him from 3 days old and he died at 11 yrs old in my arms. I will never use this vet again and have since heard many negative stories. I believed in him and had used 14th street for 18 yrs....so, I truly had such blind faith in them. Looking back...when the vet walked in he had my cat mixed up with the one I had 18 yrs ago and thought he was 16. In two different visits each time I sat there while a person picked up a dead animal.... That seemed odd, but I brushed it off. After he gave my cat a shot he seemed to go down hill. My gut told me to run...I beat myself up every day for not running and going to the emergency hospital in Mansfield when I could not get in with another vet asap....I just didn't think about it. I feel that I let him down and will have to live with that. If you just need shots or a basic checkup he's probably fine but if it's life or death I would check out another vet. Just my personal opinion. My family and friends have left and I found a wonderful vet. If I can save even one person my heartache, this is worth it. read more

Not the place to go for your pets. On Friday August 23rd, 2019 we brought our Cattle Dog for a follow-up on a urinary tract infection. An x-ray showed she had bladder stones. Dr Rook said she needs surgery, and I can do this today. I said ok (my mistake). At the end of the day we didn't get any update on her. The next day I talked to Dr Rook and he said your dog is doing fine, sorry I didn't call you we were busy. Monday morning we went to the clinic to pick her up. Dr Rook looked really surprised to see us. He said I had to knock her out again because she took her stitches out, you can pick her up later today. We picked her up and brought her home, where she passed after midnight. We don't believe that Dr Rook did surgery on Friday and then put her under anesthesia again on Monday morning. She passed because she was locked up in a crate for 3 days without the medication she needed for a heart condition. The worst thing is, that the people that work there and Dr. Rook himself are liars. read more

When my vet retired, I started searching for a new vet. I had tried several vets previously, but none were quite what I was looking for. Reading through reviews available online (yahoo, google, etc), I decided to try Dr. Rook. He has been great. The clinic isn't fancy, but it is run by quality people that care about the animals. When I had to put my 13 1/2 year old boxer to sleep earlier this year due to cancer, Dr. Rook had tears in his eyes as well. I have always felt he puts the care of our animals first. He tries to keep costs low without sacrificing quality of care and I appreciate that. They have always kept me up to date about the condition of my pets when left in their care and I have always had complete faith in their quality of care. read more

After going through hell with 2 other vets I tried them today. I admit I have not tried him in the past because of the walk ins only. But I had such horrible service from 2 others, and I called around looking for a vet that used the medicine that works for my dog. Mind you one other local vet said they did and after waiting a week to see her I left disappointed. So leap of faith, I went in and yes the walk in situation was as expected, but, the girls were nice, the techs were nice and efficient, and the doctor listened to me and used the protocol that not only has been very successful for my dog, but is also easy and stress free for my dog. I sat in my car and cried this time out of relief. I wasted $300 in the last week at 2 other clinics. One treated me like crap and the other made me wait a week and then did not use a medicine that they have that my dog needed. But I am very grateful to 14th St for taking care of my dog as if they cared. I will just have to deal with the walk ins only situation because this is my new vet. read more

Best vet ever!!!! He has done great with both my cats and dogs. He even saved one of my dogs that ate a towel.

I gave them two chances, my dog had a minor procedure done and was returned to me disheveled, soaking wet and smelling of urine, I thought he may have had an accident, no big deal. So I took my cat, big mistake, I have spent over $1500 saving my cat from an infection developed after having a procedure done here, after speaking with other vets, they are appalled at what care was prescribed and have told me they receive many patients with complications after seeing this vet. I hate leaving negative reviews, but please be aware of the chance you are taking, it may be one thing to get shots here, but I wouldn't trust them with my animals life.:( read more

Terrible service!! The vet (Dr. Rook) is out of the office 2-3 hours a day or more...you also can't make appointments here! Good luck trying to get in, when the vet is actually in there are crowds of people (first come first served, and sometimes you have to wait for hours) and sometimes the vet doesn't even show up for work, even during his scheduled times!! The receptionist is horrible as well, bad customer service. How this place stays open I don't know...probably just from the loyalty of all the townfolk who have known Rook for years and feel obligated to give their business to him. But this is a horribly run veterinary clinic...I've lived in 5 states and have had vets in all of them and this place is the worst ever. read more
