Love Dr Welsh and her staff. They are very thorough and love our dogs! They also have a late night to accommodate appointments.

I've been to several different vets in the 4 months that I've had my 50 lb boxer, Kennedy, and none…read morecompares to Dr. Rook. It is a small establishment with a small staff, but they really do work as a team to provide the best possible care with no bullshit. Dr. Rook takes the time to listen and offers his advice with a confident grin and a firm handshake - exactly the reassuring approach I need to care for my big guy. He only pushes necessities but provides you with all of your options and explains why this or that will or will not work. A previous vet led me to believe that a tumor on his leg would be fatal in several months and wanted over $1200 for its removal - and that didn't include boarding for the operation. When he heard about that, Dr. Rook clarified that tumors can be fatal, but the one Kennedy had wasn't that serious. I dropped Kennedy off this morning and was quoted a price that both included boarding and was a fraction of the previously quoted amount ($250 .. Potentially $400 as we're removing 2 additional lumps). The office does not take care credit, but their prices are up front and low. If you don't have an appointment, expect to wait an hour or more. The wait is well worth the care provided. This was my 3rd visit. If the need arises after surgery, I won't hesitate to bring Kennedy to see Dr. Rook again.

I love Dr. Rook....however attempting to get in at a decent time is very very difficult. The…read moreprocedure is you have to sign in when the signin sheet is posted outside the door at 6 am. They don't open til 8 am and supposedly you are not suppose to leave the parking lot after signin....thus you have to wait 2+hours before they open (and depending the time you signin). Trying to make an appointment is so difficult as appointments are 2 months out due to the popularity of Dr. Rook. There should be a better procedure than what is required, maybe appointments only could make things more smoothly for customers to get in to see the vet instead of the walk-in procedure signin requirements.

What an amazing Animal Hospital! Last week I had to make a decision that every pet owner dreads…read moremaking. I had to euthanize my childhood dog of 17 years. When I called this vet for a quote on pricing that is when I fell in love. They were very compassionate and helpful to getting an appointment set up and helping me understand the process. Once at the Animal Hospital we were given the option of doing the process in their yard or inside. With COVID still a thing it's a really hard to find a place that will let you come in and say goodbye to your animal. Once inside they were again very compassionate and explained the entire process to us. We were able to choose how sleepy we wanted our dog before the actual process took place. Once the sleepy shot was given they let us have some private time with our dog. They provided us with a wireless door bell to push once we were ready to say our finally goodbye. When the whole process was over they provided us with a clay paw imprint so that we could remember forever. The experience wasn't the only great part, the cost was also friendly for anyone on a budget. I was quoted $500 by veterinarians near me and only $205 here. In conclusion I highly recommend this vet. They have the best service, people, and affordable prices. If this is your first time I promise it won't be your last.

We have been patients of Animal Hospital of Ovilla for the past four years. The staff are rude…read moreand won't let you schedule two appointments back-to-back unless you pay for the office fee up front. The staff makes notes about what you say on the phone with them because they can be used later against you. It seems like the staff doesn't believe what we tell them. We were accused of taking a script from the office when we never saw it. The staff thought we were lying and it made us uncomfortable and we felt like we couldn't trust them. They don't act professional. I was disappointed in them and saddened the day my Chihuahua died at the vet's office. On Tuesday, we noticed that our 13-year-old Chihuahua, Shorty, was not eating or drinking water, So we tried to make an appointment on Wednesday, but there were no appointments. we got the earliest appointment we could get which was at 7:30 on Thursday morning for Dr. Owen. That next day, my husband dropped Shorty off at the Vet's office at 7:20. Thirty minutes later I received a call from Dr. Owen at 8:05 apologizing because Shorty had passed away alone, in her pet carrier, in an exam room where she had been for 30 minutes. At least Sarah (the doctor mentioned her name) when she was working on the computer could have checked on her periodically and they could have gotten her out of the pet carrier. I would have stayed and held her if I'd known the Veterinarian wasn't going to be there until 8:00 am. Dr. Owen said she was very sorry, but it didn't help much. If you care about bringing your pets to an animal hospital that loves their animals, then I recommend going somewhere else. Animal Hospital of Ovilla does not care about your pets like it says on the website but only about their service fees!
