I have an 11-year-old red healer that developed arthritis. We went in second injection of Labrela. after seeing no change with the first, I asked to speak to the vet while there about my concerns and other possible options. we waited to see her for 20 minutes. Her advice was simply to wait and see how the second injection goes. Simply speaking to the vet was considered an "exam" versus a consult and I was charged an additional $54! I need a that actually cares about my companion versus taking money from their patients. read more

Total A_ holes... First visit for injured leg exam was $ 475.00 for 15 minute exam, no x rays. Prescribed pain pills - only one week supply @ $70.00 for 14 tabs. Did not give written prescription to get filled at outside pharmacy. After two refills @ $70.00 another vet did full exam and hip Displasia and arthritis was diagnosed. My dog will have to be on pain management from now on out. Contacted Welsh, bought another round of meds and insisted on written prescription so I could buy more that one week supply at lower rates online. After some "discussion" they caved and wrote prescription. Purchased prescription online online for .40 per tablet rather than the $5.00 per tablet they charged me. When Chewy.com contacted to verify prescription they told Chewy that they were unwilling to work with Chewy on discount prescriptions. I fully recommend using this vet particularly if you have time and money to waste. read more

We have years of experience with dogs engaging vets on many occasions. This vet was unwilling to see our very sick chihuahua mix despite having had us as a client for some time. Instead my wife took her to the new emergency vet - Veterinary emergency hospital of Midlothian who treated her promptly. They were also considerably cheaper than Welsh and decidedly more courteous. read more

I don't know how this vet clinic gets new clients, I really hope they do treat their current clients better than prospects. I called in the evening, the lady who answered already had a very rude and non caring voice- she was very matter of fact, not happy to answer or talk. I felt like I was bothering them by calling. I only chose to call this vet over others that were talked a lot higher of because they are open on Saturdays and my job limits my availability during the week since I commute an hour. The front desk lady said only current clients can make appointments on Saturdays, so that explains the complete disrespect other people have received by being turned down service in emergencies. She was not understanding at all and tone of voice stayed flat and rude. There is no way I would trust these people with the care of my pet if they treat people that way. read more

No. We moved here from TN. My 6 yo long haired dog gets ear infections occasionally. Her 1st vet in TN used an ear pack. It was messy, like vaseline, but it worked in one treatment. When a vet opened closer to us she also had an easy treatment, but no mess. Osurnia. It's awesome. So we moved here, and my girl got a yeast ear infection. The 1st vet I tried wanted me to wash her ears out with 2 washes 2x a day for 21 days, then maybe sedate her to clean her ears. WTH. I asked them to please order Osurnia and they said no. So I called around. Dr. Welsh's office said yes they have Osurnia. I told them that was the protocol that worked for her. I had to wait a week to get in! So I waited. She told me to use one ear wash once a day for 14 days, and then a medicine once a day for 14 days, and then maybe yeah they might want to sedate her. WT frigging H! I was so mad! I said I wanted Osurnia. She said she thought it was too bad of a yeast infection for Osurnia. A wasted second $150. $300 so far for an ear infection. I just sat in my car and cried. I am not doing this crap to my dog! I called around again. I found another one that said yes they have Osurnia. So leap of faith. This morning I went to him. He checked her and put Osurnia in her ears. In one week, they will put a second tube. No stress for my dog. When I told him what 2 other vets wanted me to do he said "If Osurnia works for your dog why would I change that?" Exactly! He also said, "If you clean her ears for 21 days, or 14 days, why would they then want to sedate her and clean them?" Thank you! Common sense! Listening to the dogs owner and the dogs history. If that's important to you, this is the wrong vet. I will not go back! read more

I was very impressed with Dr. Welsh after bringing my dogs to two other vet clinics in Midlothian. Her office was the only one that requested any information about my dogs' vaccinations, birth dates, etc. Not only is she open on Saturdays (working folks will appreciate this, as well as for emergencies on weekends), but is open late one night per week and requires appointments (I can't sit in the office waiting on a walk-in basis!). She is knowledgeable, thorough, and very pleasant. The office is clean and fairly new. The staff is extremely friendly, and very good with the animals. I am so relieved to have found the right vet to treat my dogs! read more

I would NEVER recommend going to Welsh Veterinary Clinic. I had actually taken my dog there to get a check up, shots and then get neutered on two different occasions. So he was one of their patients and thought that they were a good clinic. While I was there getting the check up they had told me that if my dog was ever to get sick to bring him in early in the morning and he would get seen. Well the time came and my dog had thrown up 10 times, started to have diarrhea and was starting to get so lethargic during the night. We took him into Welsh's as soon as they opened at 8am. As soon as we get in the the secretary at the front desk stated that they couldn't see him that day and wouldn't be able to get him in until next week!!! Umm.. hello my dog was throwing up right in front of you, he couldn't wait until next week. The secretary was so rude during the whole process and didn't care about how sick my dog was. I asked for my records so I could take him somewhere else and she states, "oh you probably won't need them. If you do just have the call up here." Instead of just letting me have them then. We ended up leaving there and heading straight to Dr. Rook who I had never seen before! My dog got into see him within 1 hour. He had a temp of 102, stated that he had some of the most swollen tonsils he had ever seen on a yorkie. He ended up having strep and needed 2 different shots and a week of antibiotics. It has almost been a week and my dog still isn't back to normal because of how sick he was. I just cannot believe how rude they treated us at Welshs and will never be going back there. read more
