My dog came in as a new patient. All he needed was an update for.Dhop. They ended up charging me for other vaccinations that I did not order. They never reviewed the services or charges beforehand. The Vet did a very poor job when examining my dog. He did not even listen to his heartbeat or look inside his eyes or ears. I will never go back there. I've had dogs and vets for over 40 years and this was the worst experience I ever had with a Vet. read more

I don't even know how to leave this review. Our sweet baby boy had liver cancer and he told us he was ready to go on New Year's Day. No vet was open near our home, but he was in so much pain we couldn't wait for the next day. So already being one of the worst days of our lives, it was nice to have people meet us that truly cared. From the moment they took our boy to get him ready I could feel the love they automatically had for him. It's been a month or so now so I feel okay to talk about it. I wanted to talk about my cat. I had a cat who I had gotten in 2015 as a kitten so I had her about her whole life basically. So in the last few years she had gotten skinny and losing weight I was getting concerned so I took her to this vet to get checked out long story short they basically said she had tonsil problems said they were inflammed and so they wanted to give her shots every month to help because she was starting to salivate a lot that it was starting to hang outside of her mouth. So every month for about 2 - 3 months we were getting her shots. She was still salivating after about a week so I let them know i wasn't sure it was helping and they said they could start doing it every 2 weeks so it could help. I think maybe for a very short amount of time. So after that they let me know and showed me a video of her mouth and said they recommended removing her tonsils because that would help fix the issue. So it took me a few weeks because I had a family emergency so I was gone for about a week. I also forgot to mention that as time went on with her saliva her mouth started bleeding. I adjusted her food to make it softer and lighter so she could eat it but her mouth was in pain that she could eat a little at a time. So then a month or so ago I started watching her closely and I got a hunch that maybe it was kidney failure. So I was about to get a appointment for the following Friday I was so worried about her I barley slept because I was watching her so much. I wanted to make sure she was okay. So by the appointment day. They looked at her mouth and what they let me know was that she had a enlarged tumor in her mouth that i had never been notified of. They said it was what they were trying to show me in the video they took but they told me at the time it was them showing me her tonsils to get removed so i had no idea about a tumor in her mouth at all. I asked for the doctor I would like him to check her blood because I have a feeling it's kidney failure he kept telling me over and over he doesn't think it's kidney failure he is pretty convinced that her mouth is what is causing her to lose so much weight.. that he isn't trying to change my mind to do the blood work or anything just that he is pretty sure its the tumor in her mouth. I let him know I wanted him to do the blood work anyway. After a few moments he came back and said her kidney levels were low so she has kidney failure.... when I asked if the shots for her tonsils if they were even doing anything at all when they thought her issue with her mouth was tonsils and not a tumor they let me know. His response was that is the least of your concern right now this cat needs to be put down. He didn't seem to have any emotion of care just that she needs to be put down. He let me know that I can do it there or do it now. So I just smiled and said I'll take her home. I'm gonna spend some time with her in her last few hours or days. His response to that was well hopefully not too much time cause she really needs to be put down. I cried off course when he left and I spent my last few hours/ days with her. Then I put her down. I'm not saying to upset anyone. Im not even really mad at the time i slightly was but I've took some time now. I just wanted to tell my story as to what happened with my baby. I won't and haven't taken any of my animals there anymore I want to be clear: I'm not writing this out of anger, just to share what I went through. For me, I didn't feel fully informed about my cat's condition, and I personally didn't feel the level of compassion I had hoped for in such a difficult moment. My family also had a separate experience here with my mom's dog, which left us with similar concerns. Because of both situations, I have decided not to bring my pets here anymore. This is just my story and my opinion. Losing a pet is always painful, and I wish my experience had felt more supported and compassionate. read more

Worst place I could've possibly taken my baby. Being 2 months old they told me he had ringworm causing him to not grow, fungal infections CANNOT do that. Him not being active and checking his temperature finding it to be 93, seemed unconcerned and says all he needed was fungal medication and sending him home clearly seeming to know he had internal issues. After returning home the vet was called and told his medication probably just wasn't right then later rushing him to the ER, his temperature being deadly, found his blood sugar was terribly low, his temperature now 90, and needing a blood transfusion. He fought really hard and passed away that night at only 2 months old due to lack of concern. DO NOT take your babies to Dr. Leal worst thing I could've ever done. read more

I took my old friend to the clinic because a large tumor on his side started bleeding. Dr. Tipton and staff were great. After talking with him about surgery I realized Dr. Tipton is the kind of person you want at your how for the holidays and the weekend football games. He's a man's man and it he wasn't so busy taking care of pets I would suggest dropping by the clinic to anyone and just shooting the ship. The tumor removal went well and even though I have an older Dane he has had more energy than with the tumor exhausting him. Stunned. I've used Midlothian Vet Clinic for almost 20 years, and always found them to be trustworthy and caring. On Friday 4/24, I learned my cat Charlie was in critical condition with diabetes, I immediately contacted them for weekend insulin treatment. I was told I'd get a call from Dr Tipton THAT afternoon regarding her care and the weekend stay. That call never came. Worried that she wasn't getting insulin and the right type of food due to lack of communication, I tried to call numerous times and was met with a recording and no way to leave a message. I reached out via messenger and email- requesting a call about her status. The first call I got was a voicemail from Heather informing me that Charlie wasn't eating or drinking. She did not leave a method to call her back. Again, I sent emails and messages requesting a call return. Dr. Tipton finally called Monday with the news that she needed to be put down. I went to the office expecting to visit with him one last time for confirmation that this was the only option. He never came to speak with me, if you can believe that. However, the person in charge of billing DID come to tell me how much I owed as I was still sobbing. She even said, "I'm so sorry to do this to you", and hit me with a bill that was much more than originally discussed. I was in no condition to argue as I could literally barely stand up due to grief. One hour AFTER Charlie was put to sleep, I got a text message saying they have a new system to update me on her care. Huh? As appalled as I was, I did not go to the office and make a scene, but I called. No one returned my call. So, I sent an email. They responded by mailing me a letter basically saying don't come back, and where should we send your pets records? Huh? This clinic is nothing like it was with Dr Wofford. Most likely all the recent recommendations are coming from people connected to the staff. Midlothian Vet Clinic used to be amazing, caring, and trustworthy. Not the case any more. read more

I initially chose this clinic bc they do online RXs. Our first 2 experiences were absolutely wonderful. The 3rd experience was not so great. There was lack of communication between the front desk and Dr. Tipton and it took a couple weeks, multiple phone calls, and an actual office visit to get any answers. However, once I spoke with Dr. Tipton and explained everything he took full responsibility for his clinic and the ball that had been dropped. I can absolutely respect that. He took the initiative to right the wrong and I appreciate that. We have since returned for additional services and will continue to do so. read more

By all means if they do something wrong, they won't apologize they will act like it's your fault and then dismiss you and your pets from their care, just because their feeling got hurt. I called and left a message with the front desk regarding my dogs surgery and to this day have not received a call a message through the pet portal, NOTHING. I sent several messages through the pet portal without a response the only thing I got was a letter stating that I need to find another vet. No call from Dr. Tipton , nothing. They left sutures in my dog and they didn't let me know that the post op procedure were on of all places, the receipt. And that's fine had they told me that's where there were. Do not take your dog to this clinic. 24hours after a medication change, my dog died very unexpectedly. What is very very sad is that we call the clinic multiple times to discuss what happened. We were trying to get some answers on what could have possibly gone wrong. AND NO ONE would ever call us back, no one ever cared about what happened to our dog. I'm going to spare everyone the details and intentionally fail to communicate why I am giving them a 1 star review but trust me, it's more than justified. For more information give them a call and leave a message. Your call is important to them. Note, cancel culture is very strong at the clinic and they admittedly only want customers that are 100% satisfied with their staff so make sure to tell them they are great when they call you back or you may receive the cancel letter in the mail that is mentioned in previous posts. IMO, sending a letter in the mail is a cowardly way to end a business relationship with people that have paid you with their hard earned money and entrusted you with the health of their pets. People that also live in the community you have "served" for 20 years. There are many ways to define "serve your community" and maybe you live up to some of them sometimes, but come on, let's be honest, you're in it for money, not to serve the community. A business that is committed to service, calls the customer and tries to resolve things, they don't simply kick people to the curb and devalue them with a breakup letter sent via U.S. mail because someone on the staff communicated that a customer was less than satisfied. You should treat your customers better than this and follow up to get their side of the story. You might be surprised at what you'll find and if you're honest with yourself, you might get better at what you do. read more

I have been going to this clinic for over 20 years. The staff and physicians are phenomenal and caring. They have seen my dogs at their best and worst. My 13 year old Lab was very ill and could no longer get around without pain. That was the hardest decision but the doc and staff talked me through the process. Those girls laid hands on Lewa and were by my side the entire time and then group hugged me afterwards. They are incredibly loving people and they have each found their calling. I went in and prepaid for my dogs parvo shot. When I brought my dog in they gave her a bordatella vaccine by mistake. She just had that vaccine a week ago. My family has been taking our pets here for five years. This vet clinic is staffed with some of the most kind and knowledgable staff I've ever met. They work hard to make sure every pet is comfortable and safe; and they work tirelessly to help with any problem. If your animal has to stay at the clinic, they're always willing to find time to let you see your fur babies and to call and tell you how everything is going. The veterinarians are very kind and explain everything they do and every problem in layman's terms so that you know exactly what's going on. Although I was not a regular client there, the receptionist was able to get me in the same day when I had a lose tooth emergency with one of my dogs two days before a 3 week long trip that might have needed an extraction. So here is the Real Deal with Midlothian veterinary clinic. Dr. Tipton and staff are Awesome. I took my 11 year old great Dane in to get a small orange sized tumor removed and I met Dr. Tiptop. First of all, he is a man's man and after talking to him for about 10 mins he's the kind of guy you want at your man-cave football parties or holiday celebrations. Just and Awesome Person, If he wasn't so busy, I would honestly recommend dropping in and shooting the bull that's how cool this dude is (No exaggeration). The surgery went perfectly and my precious doogie has more energy even though he is older. The only issue with the clinic I noticed is they have a couple drop dead gorgeous ladies working as techs and receptionist so it maybe a little distracting trying to remember why you were at the clinic in the first place again (No exaggeration). If it wasn't a shame I would have my dog in there every week...... read more

Dr Tipton was actually very nice when I met him in the office. I did bloodwork on my 2 dogs and he told me he would call me Monday maybe Tuesday with the results. I waited till Wednesday and no call so I called. His tech called me Thursday with a 36 second Voicemail saying bloodwork fine on your dogs, Rey has thyroid issues can come get his meds. I called back Thursday and asked to be called and again on Friday. On Monday still no call from Vet I called again and the front desk was a bit upset I was mad. I finally got a call Tuesday from a vet tech still no vet. I am beyond pissed. This is unprofessional and downright rude. I have 7 dogs and do rescue. I am also writing a bad review on Facebook and also on my own rescue page and my page. 2 wks and no bother for the vet to call me and explain what is wrong with my dog and anything on their bloodwork. Even though I told him I was worrried about one of my dogs as she has had kidney issues in the past. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!! Please avoid at all costs!! read more

I was surprised to see that they weren't doing curbside service due to the pandemic... I thought well they must be doing it extra safe so it's fine. Nope!! Walked in and saw a woman at the front desk completely maskless and speaking with an employee who didn't say A WORD! Even though they have a sign that says must wear mask. The employee also had her mask on her chin not covering her mouth or nose. Listen.... the least you can do is pretend like you care when you have customers in. Just be thoughtful please... also, there was no social distancing rules or flow to keep everyone in the waiting room safe. I was so disappointed. To make matters worse, I didn't appreciate the service either. It felt very rushed and there was very little dialogue. The vet and tech were very nice but there was no explanation when they gave me my dogs medicine. She handed it to me and said okay you're all set... I said "wait so when do I give these to him?" I have two Chow mixes and one of them recently got very ill and he took him right away and kept him there in his care for a couple days to make sure he was going to be ok with fluids and proper medicine he is doing much better! He listens to the owners concerns, gives a thorough examination, and truly cares about each individual animal and their owner. Although the vet himself is great, the office staff is terrible. Last incident where we requested a quote 2x before my dogs surgery. No response. On the day of the surgery before she went in, I said, I really need to understand how much this is goIng to cost. They quoted me $500. I have no reference to say if that is a good or bad price but the point is, most people need to figure out payment of dollar values like that before the day of. Incident today is way more serious. When I called to get my dog in for an emergency visit because he'd been up all night throwing up and diarrhea, they said I'd have to wait till tomorrow. When I asked if they left time each day for emergency visits, they said they were all booked. I called at 8:00am sharp. If you book appointments the day before for emergency time, you are not leaving time for emergencies. I took him to Animal Hospital of Ovilla where he was seen in 2 hours. After bloodwork, they found he had pancreatitis and it was causing his other organs to fail. There is a possibility that waiting for their "help" could have cost my dog his life. NEVER will I go back there. This 7 year customer is permanently deleted. read more
