Our pets and ourselves felt quite comfortable and welcome with the nice and decent staff and their attentiveness to our pet's needs. We are quite glad to have this facility close to our residence in Grand Prairie for any future visits and emergencies that might happen. The compassion and love that Dr. Adamson has for my dog is makes my heart swell. I trust her completely with my 14 year old lab. While my heart hurts for someone else losing their family member, I feel it's important to remember it's our decision to make, and to place all blame on one expert and threaten to sue will not bring anyone peace. Just this week I had to make the difficult decision to put my 14 year old lab to rest. Dr. Adamson laid out the facts and gave me the knowledge I needed to make a decision on my senior dog. We have been seeing Dr. Adamson for years. Her warm comforting hugs and kindness are what make her shine. We have been patients of Animal Hospital of Ovilla for the past four years. The staff makes notes about what you say on the phone with them because they can be used later against you. It seems like the staff doesn't believe what we tell them. We were accused of taking a script from the office when we never saw it. The staff thought we were lying and it made us uncomfortable and we felt like we couldn't trust them. They don't act professional. I was disappointed in them and saddened the day my Chihuahua died at the vet's office. On Tuesday, we noticed that our 13-year-old Chihuahua, Shorty, was not eating or drinking water, So we tried to make an appointment on Wednesday, but there were no appointments. we got the earliest appointment we could get which was at 7:30 on Thursday morning for Dr. Owen. That next day, my husband dropped Shorty off at the Vet's office at 7:20. Thirty minutes later I received a call from Dr. Owen at 8:05 apologizing because Shorty had passed away alone, in her pet carrier, in an exam room where she had been for 30 minutes. At least Sarah (the doctor mentioned her name) when she was working on the computer could have checked on her periodically and they could have gotten her out of the pet carrier. I would have stayed and held her if I'd known the Veterinarian wasn't going to be there until 8:00 am. Dr. Owen said she was very sorry, but it didn't help much. If you care about bringing your pets to an animal hospital that loves their animals, then I recommend going somewhere else. Animal Hospital of Ovilla does not care about your pets like it says on the website but only about their service fees!

As context, Rocky has been through a lot over the past year (ACL injury, Hypothyroidism flare ups, Allergy issues, Skin rash, Eye surgery, Ear infections, Tracheal collapse). In spite of all this, Rocky has remained a happy, sweet fur baby that is a "love magnet" wherever he goes :-). But, after months of vet visits, pokes, and prodding...we were both exhausted and needed a different path. My primary vet and I aligned that it was time to bring in specialty expertise and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we arrived at HEAL, I could tell this experience would be different. The entire staff is extremely kind and supportive, and Dr. Martinson is truly a gem--warm, intuitive, and incredibly thorough. She took the time to fully understand Rocky's health journey, and while a prior vet even suggested a wheelchair...I know my boy and he isn't there yet. Yes, he's aging, but it's not time for wheelchairs, heavy meds, or giving up. Dr. Martinson listened and agreed. Together we aligned on a holistic care plan that prioritizes Rocky's quality of life. No extreme interventions. Just thoughtful, expert care designed around what's best for him. Yes, the initial visit takes a lot of time, the "pre-booking" Questionnaire is extensive, and the services aren't cheap. But for me and Rocky, it was time and money well spent. This was the most detailed pet evaluation I've ever experienced and after months of stress, I finally saw Rocky relax. HEAL's Fear Free approach definitely works and I'm looking forward to a great partnership with Dr. Martinson and the entire team. Her leg was sore, and I could tell she was in pain. Because her vet doesn't have an after-hours clinic, I started to call emergency vets in my area. The ones in my area are money-driven and were unable to give me estimates on the potential costs. I called VEG and told them about my girl, and money wasn't a priority; my little girl was. She was given medication to help with the pain, and a day or two later, she was back to herself. I'm grateful to VEG. If an ER vet is needed in the future, they will be my choice.
