[BOOK WITH DR.BROWN]…read more Where do I begin?.. [BOOK WITH DR. BROWN] (Part (1/2) In January of 2020, post-corona and the world's changes and daily challenges, I adopted my new 2-year old Chocolate Chihuahua in the photos, his name is Jaxon. My cousin rescued a yellow Corgi-Lab mix named Cooper. I adopted him from the SPCA and he came with a pamphlet, included in that was a complimentary exam in the first 10 days. Reached out to VCA Desoto Animal Hospital--Excellent service, great scheduling and got everything set up for my furbaby. Fast forward...Arrived for his appointment, Jaxon & I were still becoming acquainted and I was unaware of this small dog with this "Small-Dog Syndrome" or should I say big-dog bark that is. It became annoying and very disturbing, the wonderful Receptionist/Vet Tech I believe named Alexis, helped me calm him down and get him out of hindsight. Well put she said,"Out of sight, out of mind." I've never forgot that and it's worked every time since then! GO ALEXIS!! We continue the appointment and our Doctor entered the room after a few minutes (very expeditious), who so happened to be the AMAZING Dr. Brown. We were so BLESSED with Dr. Caroline Brown who entered the room. My cousin and I are African-American. In addition to that, color has never been an issue for me. I only care about the heart, respect, integrity and personality. We quickly picked up on our Caucasian vet, who is Dr. Brown, also only concerned herself with those same things. Furthermore, I was shocked by her warm-personality and positive energy. Her love for animals, transparency, willingness and knowledge had surpassed my expectations. Dr. Brown sat on the floor and got to know our pets, did the exam and literally answered every single question and addressed every concern that was presented to her, no frustration, no lack of professionalism. She even gave us copies of great and valuable information and resources. We learned quickly why Dr. Brown is always booked and how great she really is!!! Also, my furbaby has had a few scares and incidents and the VCA Desoto Hospital staff are great per usual. But in those cases, Alexis & Dr. Browns swiftness and great team work and initiative truly made all the difference. They continued to reassure me that he will be ok, what we can do as economical as possible. What I truly love is that they're not money-hungry or driven. Prices can be a bit Astronomical but it's rare and THEY WORK WITH YOU! The pets come first! Update: Jaxon is ok and I'm beyond grateful. I adopted my new furbaby Dakota (8 Week Pomeranian). Dakota had been doing so well the last 10 days I had her. To make long story short, on the 11th day as I was working remotely, I noticed that Dakota was different. By different I mean, lethargic, low-energy level, took her to a local vet because Dr. Brown was off and she tested positive for Parvo. Because she only weighs (2) lbs. the local vet recommended taking her to an Emergency Hospital. I did that and the Vet who called me informed that I would be looking at the cost of $3000-to most likely $5000 if not more by time it was her time to be discharged. Flat out, I understand pet care can be expensive but my head began literally spinning, stress went through the roof. I reached back out to my favorite VCA DESOTO ANIMAL HOSPITAL and spoke with Alexis. Alexis was VERY helpful, diligent and assertive with my urgent matter. Asked around, reached out, got some answers and helped me with an economical solution for my baby. One even my favorite Vet Dr. Brown also agreed with. Alexis has always been a friendly face, funny, helpful, kind, joyous and present. She is always overworking, overexerting herself and treating people the way she would want to be treated. I've noticed that within my appointments and chats with her and her interactions with other services, Doctors and pet-parents!! Lastly, I ended up keeping my baby at the emergency clinic due to her weight and she did well. Following day to her immediately to Dr. Brown. She was kind enough and able to get Dakota in. They were so swift when Dakota arrived. I was given updates, multiple calls, honest news, optimism and affordable care. SHE WAS TRULY IN THE BEST CARE. Dakota is now home, recovering, doing well and hasn't skipped a beat. It was super refreshing to not only know that my baby is in good hands with everyone there but that my Vet, Dr. Brown doesn't see color, rich or poor, black or white, easy or hard but solutions, positivity and ensures what needs to be done is done!!! VCA DESOTO ANIMAL HOSPITAL is the place to go. Everyone has always been pleasant and wonderful but OH MY, My furbabies & I will FOREVER be indebted to Alexis & Dr. Brown. FOREVER GRATEFUL. I can tell you one thing for sure and two things for certain, VCA Desoto Animal Hospital has great team work but also made a wonderful decision with their hiring process. Especially with Alexis & Dr. Brown, etc.

The staff makes notes about what you say on the phone with them because they can be used later against you. It seems like the staff doesn't believe what we tell them. We were accused of taking a script from the office when we never saw it. The staff thought we were lying and it made us uncomfortable and we felt like we couldn't trust them. They don't act professional. I was disappointed in them and saddened the day my Chihuahua died at the vet's office. On Tuesday, we noticed that our 13-year-old Chihuahua, Shorty, was not eating or drinking water, So we tried to make an appointment on Wednesday, but there were no appointments. we got the earliest appointment we could get which was at 7:30 on Thursday morning for Dr. Owen. That next day, my husband dropped Shorty off at the Vet's office at 7:20. Thirty minutes later I received a call from Dr. Owen at 8:05 apologizing because Shorty had passed away alone, in her pet carrier, in an exam room where she had been for 30 minutes. At least Sarah (the doctor mentioned her name) when she was working on the computer could have checked on her periodically and they could have gotten her out of the pet carrier. I would have stayed and held her if I'd known the Veterinarian wasn't going to be there until 8:00 am. Dr. Owen said she was very sorry, but it didn't help much. If you care about bringing your pets to an animal hospital that loves their animals, then I recommend going somewhere else. Animal Hospital of Ovilla does not care about your pets like it says on the website but only about their service fees!
