Absolutely bad communication and overall horrendous experience with these guys. Bought an item, they sent the wrong one then said they sent me a more expensive item so I should be happy, which was complete bs. They also made it impossible to return. When I spoke to them on the phone, the sales representative was rude and very condescending. They are a company that tries to sell you things and once they have your money, they don't care about keeping you happy; once you give them the money they give you the finger. I keep ordering from this company because they continue to have the best prices, but man, these people are crooks. I have ordered two high dollar orders from them in the last 2 years. Once was $1800 and the other was $700. Our first experience was not terrible, but it was not good. I placed the order but was later told it is on backorder and they have to actually order it from the manufacturer and that 123dj doesn't have it in stock, on hand. If I would have know that prior to purchasing it, I would have bought from a different site. It ended up taking 3 months to arrive. Once it came it was in good condition and it was the correct item, but we were missing things that Neil promised during the close of the sale, such as an expensive hard sided case. It didn't come. It took multiple calls and followup and I finally got them to mail it 2 months later. Also, the rebate didn't work for this order so we lost out on $150 back. Our second order was just before Christmas 2015 and I ordered 2 speakers and Neil promised to throw in the matching speaker stands. There was also a $60 rebate but I only got approved for $30 when I submitted it. The speakers arrived but the stands never did. I emailed multiple times, contacted via chat, then finally called. I had to make 3 phone calls and was finally told by some guy that wouldn't give his name that Neil would have to call me back. I never got a call. I totally agree about not being acknowledged when i arrived. Several latino workers around but no one said hi, or even looked at me and I'M MEXICAN!!! I didn't mind climbing the stairs because i was thinking it would be worth it, i expected from the looks of the outside, a huge warehouse full of awesome gear to look at. Instead the place was tiny, dark and dingy. They did have what i was looking for, an Odyssey Black Label case for my Mixdeck and they actually gave me a great deal on it. Then i had to carry this huge, 50 lb, case downstairs and i didn't like those stairs anymore. I suggest if you go, you need to be assertive and not wait for someone, and speak up or else you might be waiting for a while. I believe some of the staff doesn't speak english hence why some may be ignored. I was ecstatic that i had found a place in the city that has dj gear in stock as i don't really like to buy online unless i can touch it, play with it before i make a buying decision. I live in the northwest burbs and the Guitar Centers, Sam Ash stores suck at having any kind of selection of dj gear. Be careful when you buy though as they have a huge sign by the register, 20% re-stocking fee, NO cash back only store credit! Also they are open to negotiation on price, as you can always bring up that it's cheaper online and other places offer free shipping and no sales tax. This has been a horrendous buying experience! I bought, online, a Kontrol S8 and a Maschine MK2 on June 24th. Since I had spent $1,500.00, I thought that I could use their coupons for $100.00 (for spending $1,000) and $50.00 (for spending $500) in credit. There was no place to put the coupon numbers on the online order form, so I called and was told to "just put it in the 'notes' section of the order form." I received the Kontrol S8 a couple of weeks later, but despite repeated calls, I have not received the coupon credit. I was told by a manager that I could not get the additional $50.00 credit for the Maschine MK2, since it was a resealed item, but he would send me a new MK2 for the same price, which would make up for the $50.00 credit. It is now July 30, and I still have not received the MK2 or the coupon $100.00 credit. I have found that they have terrible customer service--when I am told that I will get a return call, it doesn't happen, so then, I need to call them. Gosh, I haven't even been given shipping status on the MK2 yet! I am going to cancel this item; request the $100.00 coupon credit (again), and never use these people again!!! This has been a nightmare!!!! I noticed that most of the bad reviews are because of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This can be rectified by removing the current staff or training them to RETURN CALLS, SEND FOLLOW-UP STATUS EMAILS, and BEING PROACTIVE IN PROCESSING ORDERS!!! I ordered some sp2 speaks and a peavey amp they was factory resealed. I also ordered a set of wireless mics and a dj case/stand. I didn't hear anything for days so I started emailing and finally I called and got hold of Neal. He said it would ship in a day or so, I called back and was going to cancel after reading all these negative reviews online. When I called to cancel Neal said that they was out of stock on the sp2 resealed and the amp resealed. He said he would send me a new amp and upgrade the speakers to sp2bx brand new. I was skeptical I said if it comes and is not what you say I will refuse shipment and dispute the charges. The stuff came today and I was surprised but he kept his word! I haven't noticed any of the reviews being by any online customers so here we go... I have shopped with them on and off for about 10 years now and don't have anything spectacular to say about them. I have been able to get the things I want but certainly haven't gotten anything in a hurry. My only in-store experience is from years ago when I was ordering some speakers, a mixer, some stands, and a large rolling gig box. They had a deal on most everything I needed that really just couldn't be beat. It couldn't be beat until you added shipping! On my order of about $1700 the shipping they wanted was over $500 and told me that it had to be sent freight so it would be 4-6 weeks til I received it. live about 4hrs south of them so I decided to take a day trip. My in-store experience was pretty close to one of the other reviews I read (not-so-good service) but after about an hour and a half in the store, I paid and drove around to the warehouse loading dock where I waited for over 2 hours for anyone to open a door. The reason I was given for the wait was that they needed to test everything out to make sure it was all good. (Not sure how that takes 2 hours but at least they cared) Once I got everything home after what turned into a 12 hour trip, I unboxed everything (which was, btw, in no way touched by anyones hands outside of the factory) and hooked everything up to test it out the mixer had no signal whatsoever from the left channel. After arguing with me on the phone that everything they sell is tested and working before it leaves their facility, they finally decided to send me a new one after I dropped "The L Word" (lawyer). The only thing I'll say is with an online order is... DON'T ORDER FROM THEM IF YOU NEED YOUR EQUIPMENT WITHIN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME! I could list tons of examples but I'll just give you the most recent. I ordered a couple sets of headphones 5 days ago. After 3 days I called them to see what the deal was and why my bank hadn't been charged yet. The only answer I got on that was that I'll be sent an email when it gets processed. bad customer service. only the manager knows how to problem solve and it takes ages to get someone to talk to you or ring you up. They do however have WAY lower rates than other places. In fact the service is so wonky I saw two guys get so frustrated with waiting they left after being there ages and the sales associates took too long getting everything together. If I had been there for 45 minutes just to ask one question, I can't imagine what it would take to actually get some help, buy a system or a few components and get some assistance on pairing up the right gear. These guys may know a thing or two about setting up turntables, but ask them about routing synths and drum machines, etc with products they sell and you'll get deer in headlights. Reading the previous reviews, the only one that surprised me was the favorable one. 123DJ's on-line service is no better than what I'm reading about their in-store service. After three days of trying to contact a rep with absolutely NO response to four attempts via e-mail and phone, I gave up and placed my order elsewhere. I did take satisfaction in sending a scathing two page letter to the company with hopes it would find its way to someone who cared...but not likely. 123DJ's elaborate website is quite a deceptive facade. I am relieved that I didn't submit my order and find myself wondering whatever happened to that $500. I ordered a case for my Mashine by native instrument online for 39.99 as advertise. When the product came it was totally different. It was the hard case for the Traktor. I call 123DJ.COM and was told that they had problem with the site and that when I placed the order for 39.99 for the Mashine case and put it in the cart it switch the product and the gave me the wrong price. I asked what's next, the rep said that i had to pay the difference from what was advertise and ship the product back to them before they send it to me. I hung up the call and call back and asked to speak to supervisor.... they put someone name NEIL or so he says and he stated "we made a mistake, but you will have to pay the difference and send the other one back before they can do anything! true, they offer everything you need to work as a DJ, but their in-store service is flat out terrible. yes, you must travel up to the third floor of their warehouse to enter their store, which for me, wasn't an issue. but when i walked in, it literally took a consultant 30 minutes to service me. after reviewing yelp, i literally timed my experience from when i walked in the door till when I was actually helped. Not once was I told, "someone will be right with you", nada. Another customer walked in after me and was helped before I was. out of all the employees there, one consultant was knowledgeable and technically the only person servicing the 5 to 6 customers that were there. i have patience, but that was ridiculous. they have decent and top quality product on site, but 123 should seriously consider having 2 to 3 top tier consultants eager, knowledgeable and costumer service trained to handle in coming customers. a simple, "hello, how are you?" or "hello, someone will be with you shortly" goes a long way for a consumer. essentially, i'd rather drive to Alaska to purchase product from another company that will cater to my needs, then not even be greeted when i walk through the door. step your game up or continue to receive more reviews like mine and everyone else who has suffered from your poor customer service. read more

I have bought DJ equipment endless times from here and never had a bad experience. However I recently bought a shure wireless microphone. I went into the store to buy this item last minute for an event I had in a few days. I made the mistake of mentioning the fact that I had bought another microphone (different model) on eBay and told the sales associate about it. I went on with the purchase and we tested the microphone there to make sure it worked fine and it did. I tested the microphone again at home and it worked fine again. On the day of my gig unfortunately for some reason when I plugged the microphone in, it didn't work properly and it was cutting off. I returned the following weekend to 123dj to exchange the microphone since they have a 30 day exchange policy and I was attended by the same sales associate that sold me the microphone. He tested the microphone and realized it didn't work properly as well. He offered to give me store credit until a new microphone came in. That sounded great since all I wanted to do is exchange it for a different one, but same model. After a few minutes of the sales associate preparing the paperwork for the store credit, another gentlemen came storming from the back. I believe he was the manager or owner. He, with in a loud tone of voice asked rudely: what's wrong with the mic? And I started to explain the situation, and before I could finish he interrupted me and mentioned about me saying when I bought it, how I had purchase a different microphone on eBay, and implied I switched the Ebay microphone with their. The took my money for a turntable package they did not have in stock despite sending me an e-mail with UPS tracking numbers. It took nearly 4 weeks for the transaction to complete. Do not be fooled by thier manager's (Neal) smooth and calming approach.He will promise you all kinds of littel extra goodies as a goodwill gesture to make up for their slow delivery times. None of the extras will be delivered. Here is the problem though: A) it takes a nice amount of time to get to you, and B) I have been charged over the specified amount {That was easily worked out though} The quality of the products was impeccable, and the prices are as low as it gets. I purchased a package from them that included two speakers (one arrived broken), a turntable (very small and they made it seem bigger on the pic), speaker covers (that never came), two lights, and some cheap headphones. When notified about the damaged equipment, my small turntable return, and notify them I did not receive my speaker covers I was given the run around. It has been 3 weeks now. I have not gotten my covers, they have not exchanged the speaker, they have not given me any info on where to return the turntable, and I have been treated rudely, I have called SEVERAL TIMES, I filled out their bs return form but of course no one has responded and it's been a week. They hardly answer their phones during advertised operational hours, and I've even been hung up on! At this point I'm going to have to get a lawyer just to get my items. I was totally given the run around on an avertised factory conditioned Denon mc-6000 for $299. I purchased 2 of these units and then another 3 more the next day. My first order was not shipped after a week and they said they sold out and Neil completely lied to me and said more were coming in a couple days. 4 days later still nothing. Neil once again said he would send brand new unit but never did. This company just waisted two weeks of my time and for two weeks had my money. Denon should drop them as a preferred vendor. When I opened the item, I come to find that they sent the wrong items. I called them right away and they told me, "well the items we sent you cost the same as the one you ordered, so you should be happy with this item." WTF, since when does the company get to send you an alternative to what you buy. I kept the stands and took the lost as I feared having them not send me anything at all. They are slow shippers, there customer service agents are crude and rude and will yell at you, and they have no desire to keep you happy as a customer. Sorry They got no love!!! I went there on a sat afternoon hoping to buy a new Rane Mixer to go with my Serato System. I myself work in customer service in a MUCH busier environment and I know it doesn't take a lot to say "hello." First of all got there and it was on the fourth floor with now working elevator in sight. I thought to myself "OK, I guess it is a warehouse" So I climbed the stairs only to find a locked door which i had to ring a door bell to be buzzed in. (have a lot of trouble there?) So when I walk in the first thing i notice is a guy on the phone who doesn't look at me, acknowledge or nod. I again gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was quite busy although just from over hearing him talk didn't sound much like business talked. So I walked around and ended up in this room full of speakers with a smog machine(s) on. It was dark, with fog and i couldn't see a thing. I hope this was not a selling point. It made want to buy a flashlight. So I walked around, looked at some mixers still no interaction with the workers there. Some walked past me carrying boxes and made themselves unavailable. So I just hung out by the mixers behind the counter. took out my blackberry and looked at the mixer I wanted to buy. No help. I took another lap around the store two guys walked in and the workers stopped and started speaking them in Spanish. I'm assuming they knew them. which still is no excuse for bad customer service. So lastly I went back to the counter and began to count the money in my pocket,took another lap around the store and no one said ANYTHING to me!! So I had enough and took my business and cash with me. So congrats 123dj. you just missed out on a potential 800 dollar sale because you don't know how to say "hello." I made a mistake of going back to this company to make a purches for a second time and giving them a chance just to screw up again!!!!! I ordered something from them online on 7/21 and due to family issues had to cancel on 7/22 in which they told me if it did not go out they would cancel it and refund the money in stead it was shipped and refused the package on Monday 7/24 . After numrious phone calls to them and getting the constant run around and them telling me that it was to arrive yesterday 7/27 and they will call once checked in still nothing. I finally got someone that told me it arrived yesterday at 5:31pm almost 24 hours later and still have not processed my refund. I have kids i need to feed and it yes it was my mistake in the first place ordering but they have no common courtsy to care about anything other then cash orders in store. I do not suggest anyone deal with this company cause they do not care if items are sitting or not excuse is "WERE TOO BUSY". Worst customer service ever.... I will be contacting my lawyer rather then play games with this company. read more

Saturday: Bought TPro WM852 wireless mics from the Store Sunday: Had a function. Unboxed the mics and got static. Couldn't use the mics Monday: Went to 123dj store to inform them of the mics. A nice guy there, tried them out, couldn't figure out why he was getting static. He offered to switch them out. Pulled out a new box of the same model, tried them. Same thing happened. So that's two unusable mic systems. He says he cans swap it for a different brand. He tries out another TPro brand and a Gemini brand. THEN the bald guy that is always there (not the owner) tells him that they need to "switch" because someone is speaking Spanish, and they need him because he speaks Spanish. THIS is where things go south. I'm at the end opposite of the cash register on the sales floor, waiting for the mics to get boxed up, because we tried them out. The bald guy walks up to me saying "$18 dollars". I thought that was really rude. I tell him, "ok, I don't even have the mics yet". You would think that he would wait till I got the mics boxed up and hit the cash register rather than pushing a sales ticket at me while I'm on the floor. I actually was planning on getting some speaker wires too and was going to look around. Finally, the 1st guy boxes up the mics and takes them to the register. THEN the bald guy yells out from the back at me "$18 dollars". So I'm at the register and I say "I'd like to speak with you". He goes "yeah?" but still standing back in the office area. So I say..." could you come here please?" he finally comes, and I explain to him that I bought the mics Saturday. tried to use them Sunday and couldn't (which made me look bad), then Monday I had to drive all the way back over to return the faulty equipment. Then the replacement ones they were going to give me had the same issue. This guy seriously LAUGHED... like a "so what" laugh, then says sarcastically "I'm sorry about that, maybe this isn't the right frequency for Chicago" mind you, the store is IN Chicago. So I say, I was wondering could I get something for my trouble of having to make two trips, being embarrassed at my gig, and because the mics were faulty, out of the box, even the second ones they tried to give me. He laughed again. At that point I was insulted and said "you know what, I'd like a refund" he says "no refunds, we can do store credit" and points to a line on the receipt that says "no refunds for non-defective merchandise" I go. "Well the equipment was defective. It didn't work, and even the second ones didn't work" the guy shrugged. So I asked for the owner.... another bald guy. He goes, "well these mics are already on sale, I can't do anything about the sales tax" basically cutting me off every time I spoke. So, for years, I have been to the place several times before for gear (even when they had a spot downtown), but I am DONE. Their attitude, like I was the one trying to get over, when their equipment was the issue, insulted me. I ended up having to take the Gemini mics and paying the difference because they were not going to give me a refund. Which I M not even upset about that. The bald guys lack of courtesy and professionalism sealed the deal. I gave u my money, and you sold me equipment that did not work, therefore, I was unable to provide a service to MY clients, and you laugh? And you couldn't even take off $5.00 as a sign of goodwill or offer a sincere apology for me having to drive back across a state line to return your faulty equipment? I finally see the bad reviews on their facebook and yelp pages and the better business bureau under their other name Minimax Electronics Inc P.s. the two mics that were defective? They repackaged them for sale again. So buyer beware. read more

I ordered a couple speakers and some CDJ's to go along with my new system. I'm a rookie so I really had to think about what to get. Really, I wasn't sure what features the CDJ's had so one of the employees here showed me everything there was to the CD Player and was astounded on what I found. After purchasing my speakers, mixer, CD players, and all cables needed they showed me how to hook everything up and what to do. I gotta say I learned a lot and they made sure I was satisfied with what I got. I was doubtful at first, but at the end of the day I left happy and will do business here again!! read more
