PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING THROUGH THIS COMPANY. We purchased 2 receivers from 123DJ. When we received them, the "guts" of both products were completely removed and filled with "rock-like" material. The products did not appear to be tampered with. Both seemed to be in their original manufacturer's box, secured with packing tape. We notified the company, who eventually sent us a return label (after several weeks of back and forth emails and calls). We sent photos and mentioned in our emails the details of what we received. It's been a month and when we called to ask why we didn't receive our refund...NEAL very rudely answered the phone, "Yeah, what do you want"...We asked why we didn't receive our money back...He told us we were not going to get our money back because we sent back the receivers with rocks in it. We told him....again....it was the way they came. He stated, "Bulls&^t" and hung up. We will be reporting him and his company and the company that is registered with the BBB (www.123blacklight.com) through every Government Agency & Organization we can find in case there is illegal activity present. After we purchased we noticed there was an obscene amount of negative reviews with this company. Unfortunately, we didn't read them before we purchased and became another one of their victims. Buyer beware!!!!! This business is a Scam scam scam for online purchasing. I ordered a controller on 5/27/20 that was on back order, due to ship in November. This item was on back order everywhere else so I did not think too much into this. However, by January I realized I had not received this item. I emailed the business and they said they would call me the next day to handle. They did not and I emailed back. This interaction of them saying they would 'call me' went on for a week before I requested a refund. They said 3-5 business days. Didn't happen obviously. Emailed back. Again, same runaround. The final email I sent made me realize they BLOCKED my email address as my emails failed to "find the domain." So so shady. Not sure if this experience is only for online purchases but I read many similar reviews on BBB all claiming the same scam interaction with 123dj.com. I've filed an internet crime complaint and BBB complaint and working on disputing this with my bank now. I originally checked out with PayPal but they give you this runaround so that you pass the PayPal dispute deadline. I placed my first order in 2008 from this company. Being new into the industry they had people who were able to give me good guidance in what to get, the best for my budget. Its now 2023, and the equipment I got from them is still working just like the day I got it. I am ready to upgrade to newer technology. I didn't hesitate to contact them again. I ordered new equipment from them, which I felt was a good deal. The active speaker system I purchased was not available, so they upgraded me to a newer model. Product came and as always, impressed with their turn around time on shipments, etc. I had a question on a specific on these newer models and was able to call them up and they directed me the right way. Similar to previous post. Be cautious with this place. I made $1350 purchase and I assumed that I would get decent customer service. I was completely wrong. The store offered to order an item for me. I was glad that they made the offer, so I agreed to make the purchase through the store. I waited 10 days and didn't receive anything. I then called DJ123 and was treated very poorly and didn't get a tracking number or any information related to my purchase. I am still without my item or a call back. I canceled the order and guess what happened next......... It is now September, and guess what 123DJ did, they sent FALSE documentiaton to my credit card company stating that not only did they complete the purchase but that they also delivered my table. This company used to be good, but their service has plummeted big time. I return to the site because of the prices, but this will be my last purchase. The day I ordered, (A Thursday) I asked for expedited shipping, and they company refused to apply it saying I will get it the following week no matter what (since it was enough time) After the weekend I still didn't have a confirmation email for shipping. When I called Tuesday they said "they were having computer problems." Spoke to a manager who was able to split the cost of 2 Day Air so I can have it by Friday. Found out the package wasn't dropped off till Wednesday, processed Thursday which means day 1 would be Friday. Further more the delivery date would be 6 days after I applied 2 day Air shipping, and it's just unacceptable. In addition, they were saying Fed Ex was having computer problems, and they (Fed ex) were the most accommodating from everyone I spoke with. Unfortunately, we would need 123 DJ to re-create a priority label and at this point I'm not sure if they're even able to do that. A package that should've have arrived to me in three business days turned into a seven day ordeal of trying to locate the package, trying to get a shipping number, trying to call the company and a week later I still don't have any items. The only "positive" aspect of this whole ordeal is there's actually a box with my items sitting at the FedEx facility waiting for relabeling hoping to get it when I need too. That's the only thing that's giving me hope. Aside from the manager who tried to help me with my situation- don't bother purchasing items from this business unless you don't need your items in a timely manner. *update since I already wrote all of the above. For the THIRD time they failed to call Fed Ex and authorize priority shipping to get it when I first requested the time frame AND WAS WILLING TO PAY for the extra fee- and now I won't have my items for an event I may have to cancel- (It's my birthday and it falls on Memorial Day) . *side note- FedEx says they have no problem getting my package to me when I need it and they need the company to call and authorize. The worst customer service experience I have ever had online. I ordered a DJ controller from 123dj which was lost in transit by UPS. I had multiple conversations with Neil at 123dj who assured me that a replacement controller had been shipped, he just didn't have access to the tracking number. Weird, but ok. After the replacement didn't arrive on the date Neil said it would (almost a month after initial order), I called to request a refund which he assured me would be done in a day or two. After not receiving refund, I escalated to PayPal which Neil provided original shipment tracking number as evidence that I had received the controller. Essentially, this company is trying to steal 230 bucks from me. So shady, buyer beware. read more

If you are looking to purchase audio or lighting equipment, I highly recommend avoiding 123DJ at all costs. They take over a month just for you to receive the tracking number, and the customer service is the definition of hot garbage. Most recently I tried purchasing headphones from them and they never actually sent me the tracking number so I called them 4 separate times to get it sent to me, but again they never sent it to me. Today I called their supervisor or "person in charge" and they told me that they actually don't sell that product anymore. Absolutely horrendous experience dealing with them. I placed an order from California, and after I placed my order (which was expected to arrive within 3-5 days of placing my order) i was notified I would receive a tracking number shortly. Fast forward two weeks and one frustrated phone call later, I learned that they didn't even have the item I ordered in stock. They justified this by saying that noone else had it in stock so taking my business elsewhere would be a waste of time. Since I missed a DJ gig because of this, I called back expecting to hear that my item had arrived and was ready to ship. Nope. I then cancelled my order, and was told I would have my money back within 48-72 hours. I don't have my money yet. I called again, only to have an angry employee yell back at me that they only "process refunds on certain days" which basically meant my refund request was ignored. My refund was issued 3 days after I placed it, and I have no confirmation from my bank or Visa confirming this. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere, as 123dj lacks professionalism, transparency, and customer service. read more

I needed to pick up some extra lights in a hurry & against my better judgement I went back to 123DJ. I asked for 2 different lights that were listed on their website & they did not have either one. The salesperson kept saying "oh we have a big warehouse with more than what you see here" then he would disappear for 5 minutes & tell me that they didn't have it. I finally did buy a light, but their checkout process is ridiculous. Only ONE PERSON can use their ONE credit/debit card machine & that person is answering the phone, trying to help other customers & approve any "deals" that the other sales people want to make. Consequently, my credit card was charged twice for the same light. Another inconvenience to straighten it out. Unfortunately, they are the only store on the south end of Chicago & depend on that fact. And they STILL have nothing but low end equipment out on display, their excuse being "this is the stuff that sells". And I do not know what they do in internet business, but their online prices are no bargain. Ultimately - SHAME ON ME! So, if anybody from 123dj reads this review, know that I will not be going to your warehouse again & will make sure that I have what I need ahead of time. UPDATE My boyfriend and I own a local business here in Chicago. We were in need of speakers and stands and shopped around for a while on where to get exactly what we needed. We stumbled upon 123dj.com and found they had great prices, the salespeople we talked to on the phone seemed knowledgeable and we went in to purchase speakers. The speakers work great. We haven't had any problems with them. BUT when we went to use the stands we found the speakers don't fit on them. I contacted the owner of the company and it turns out they don't make stands to fit the speakers we bought. The manager of 123DJ was able to come up with a solution and fix the problem we were having. We will definitely be back in the future! read more

I ordered a sale priced item online, and my credit card was immediately charged in full. I called one week later for a shipping update and was told my item was on back order but they were getting more in three days and it would immediately be shipped to me. I called back another week later for an update and was told my order had been canceled several days ago. I asked for the manager and was told he got more of my item in the day before, and he would email me a tracking number within the hour. Over the next six days I called multiple times, the manager promised me each day that my order was going out that day and a tracking number would be emailed to me in just a few minutes. Twenty days after my original order being placed, and my credit card being charged in full for the item, I finally had to have a friend that lives in Chicago go to their store, get my item for me, and ship it to me at my expense. The item description included free shipping and a free flight case. I did not receive the flight case because even though it was pictured on the site and listed in the sale price description, they claimed the case did not apply to discounted items. Feel comfortable buying here! We are bunch of rookie suburbanites, but I sent my wife there to buy a karokee machine for my kids. Brought it home and had some tech questions which they answered quickly. We also bought a wireless microphone set to add 2 additional microphones to the one it came with, but we were having some static issues so she brought it back and explained that it didnt seem to be working right. Long story short, they fixed the problems, made some suggestions that made the machine better and were unbeleivablly nice adn helpful.Bottom line, stood by their product. Thinking it was just a mix of me overthinking the issues I had or chalking it up someone at the shop having a bad day. 1) The owner/more likely manager - who usually has the Star Trek earpiece is rude, talks over you and is a know it all. Who seriously, is just not a nice person. 2) Bought an item with the agreement that I could return it if wasn't compatible to what I needed. Went back a week later. Would not honor his agreement. I had a couple of bad experiences ordering online with this company, and I will never order from them again. Promised shipping deadlines were not met. Items arrived slowly. One shipment was lost in their warehouse for 2 weeks before I called and had them find it and finally send it to me. Items are often shipped in hastily refashioned boxes, held together with wads of tape. Padding in the shipment boxes is insufficient or non-existent. One of my orders was damaged in transit for this reason. Little or no response to customer e-mails , and staff wasn't always anxious to handle phone calls. 123dj's restrictive "All Sales Final" policy means that at best you'll get store credit if your purchases are unsatisfactory and need to be returned. Reurn shipment costs are at customer expense. Their policies and staff practices make items difficult to return. This seems intentional. Professionals should avoid this store in my opinion. read more

He said he would send out another amp instead that was (as I found out) less powerful. After a quick review on-line that amp wasn't going to give me all the functions I needed so I declined his offer and asked him to get me the Amp I ordered. I have spent more or less than 3 thousand in the last year in this store, and I massively regret it. A number of times I have been sold used defective gear that was labelled as new on my receipts. I even found initials scratched in the bottom of my MPK25 and APC40. For all I know they were used when that guy or gal bought them too. I have returned bad DMX lighting controllers only to be sold another bad one. I mean defective when I say bad. Half the features were messed up as if it had been fried out.
