I go everyday to see him, I bring him his LATimes News Paper and it's nice because the facility is only a few blocks from our home. Everyone who works there is Fantastic & Amazing. They know my Brother by name. It's sad to see some of the bad reviews online. I have seen with my own eyes "Everyday" when I go there. This Facility is great. We Thank God for each person that works there. They show love, compassion & outstanding quility of care for everyone who lives there. We Pray my Brother will gain his mobility back so he can come home. He had 2 strokes earlier this year in March & in June. We are grateful for the Physical Therapy Dept. that has encouraged & helped my brother learn & gain some of his mobility back day by day at this Facility. Multiple times we found him sitting for hours in a diaper soaked with urine, and sometimes with feces as well. His clothes would also be soiled, and staff often would not change him until a family member specifically told them to. Almost every time I visited, the hallway floor where his room was located smelled strongly like feces as soon as I got off the elevator. I hoped it was not coming from him, but as I got closer to his room, the smell would get worse and it often was him left unchanged. No patient should be left like that for hours. Many patients were left in bed all day everyday with little to no activity or engagement. Our experience was heartbreaking and I would not recommend this facility based on how my loved one was cared for.

My therapist (Paula) is one in a million no matter what I bring into group with me she is comforting and has a rare instinctive nature to help people bring their issues into the open, and then helps them heal. There are a multi of reasons that Aurora works and it starts with support staff one of them (Luis) runs the cafeteria and having eaten there more than a few times and let me tell you he runs it like a well oiled machine. There's not enough space to mention everyone that makes Aurora the best mental health facility but I would be remiss to not mention a few people who spend their lives helping their peers. LeeAnn, Mati, and Lydia are always near if anyone needs anything from checking us in every morning to helping out in the cafeteria making sure everyone gets help to their table. That may not seem like much but these women are trained professionals they have other important responsibilities at Aurora but they make time to help out and in other areas. Another person I'd like to mention is our RN Gigi she is on top of everything from making sure everyone stays healthy and happy I don't know what it is but whenever I see her I just start thinking of how much she loves her job. There are counselors who are so supportive, Jenn is one of the people who help us talk through our problems James is another who helps to make Aurora a safe space I know I'm rambling on but this place these people do so much for so many with little to no recognition. I can sum this up by saying unequivocally if not for Aurora Charter Oak I would not be here now. Please don't be afraid if you need help call them if they can help me they can help you too.

They told me to take the mattress by myself and move it to the activity area. I keep telling them I cannot sleep even though they keep on telling me to sleep. Do I look like it's in my control?? Every interaction my husband has had with the receptionist, Dana, has been rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. As the first point of contact, her behavior sets the tone--and instead of support, it feels judgmental and degrading. Instead of taking any responsibility for her behavior, she turns situations around to make others seem like the problem, which only adds to the frustration. They are also very quick to take your money, but when it comes to answering questions about what you're paying for or getting basic help, they are unwilling and unhelpful. When I called on April 6th, simply to ask how to file a complaint (NOT for any personal or protected information), I was met with the same attitude. I was given false information, told I couldn't be helped, and then hung up on. I called back and spoke to a counselor, Ed, who was also unprofessional--making assumptions about my husband's behavior and failing to show the empathy expected in this field. People struggling with addiction are dealing with real-life stressors, and this program should be a place of support, not judgment. These programs are not cheap, and people are trying to get their lives back on track while balancing work, court requirements, and family responsibilities. Treating them like they don't matter defeats the entire purpose of what this organization claims to stand for. I don't understand how the director, Everett, allows this type of behavior from staff in an environment that is supposed to help people. Young adults also come here for guidance and support, and this is not the kind of treatment that encourages them to continue seeking help. Very disappointing experience. I truly hope management takes this seriously because this kind of environment does more harm than good.

Short story my dad was given medication without the knowing what was wrong with him. I said no and had to call 911 to pick my dad up and take him to the hospital for a better level of care. My dad was in Severe pain and when he got to the ER the nurse stated it looks like he hasn't been cleaned in days. They were also trying to give him medication for something he didn't have. My dad also said the facility hasn't even been giving him water and laughs at him when they change him. Don't waste your time taking a loved one here.
