Snow outside on patio piled up to the ceiling, broken blinds, unable to eat outside with friends.

We were very disappointed in our stay. While we LOVED Mammoth, and plan to return many times, we will never book with this company again. The manager was inattentive and only responded when she wanted to. First of all, I asked about walking to the lift, and received no response. Reason being; they advertise ski in/ski out and that is not the case. This is why we booked a more expensive, yet smaller place - in a pandemic we wanted to limit our exposure in the lodge. You can, technically ski to a few chairs, but only after walking down a drive way, then walking down a steep hill that was not appropriate for skiing, particularly for young kids. Five days before we were set to arrive, I asked to extend my stay by one day, which the manager obliged. The first few days we were here, my son got very sick and I asked to cancel that last day we didn't plan for initially and the manager was entirely unsympathetic and rude. Understanding the cancellation policy, I would have appreciated some polite customer service here of perhaps offering to work with us, as good respectful tenants who would otherwise return many times. We ended up staying that extra night because we were paying for it anyway. There were numerous other issues. Upon arrival we noticed that the garage barely fit our mid-sized SUV. Not having the ski in/out capabilities that we planned for, this was very inconvenient. There wasn't even a way into the condo from inside the garage (there was a door- but again; I got no response when I asked about it). The carpet in the condo is absolutely filthy with stains everywhere, and needs to be replaced. Again, in a pandemic, you would expect utmost cleanliness. It seemed unsanitary. The couches were also very old and dust kicked up whenever we sat down. The back porch was snow-filled up to the ceiling and entirely unusable. Part of our vacation plans were to spend it with our friends-- outside-- and we could not do this because there were no snow removal services at the condo. The blinds are also broken. The place where the kitchen tiles meet the carpet also creates a gap due to a lack of repair where we have stubbed our toes many times. The beds in the room our kids stayed in were also mis-represented. The booking lists as a queen, in fact it is two beds pushed together, which none of the bedding we brought would fit. The tv remote did not work, there were barely any channels and we could not watch Netflix because of the broken remote. The DVD player also did not work. My husband and I were both here working for part of the trip, and the wifi only worked in the living room- and it was spotty at best. Finally, last night when we returned from dinner, we were locked out and the code did not work, as if the management company had already checked us out. Luckily someone answered the contact number and he was able to give me a new code. We spent a lot on this trip (around $500 a night including fees) and we do not feel like we received the appropriate service.

We rent a lot of vacation condos. It's a great way to vacation, especially with family and extended family. It's expensive, but not what you consider the comfort and ability to entertain and have meals in the comfort of a well appointed apartment. All that's to say that I am familiar with the concept, am comfortable with the costs, and have dealt with more than one rental company. 101 Great Escapes provided one of the best, professional and helpful experiences I have ever experienced. The company is operated by a husband and wife team. At every turn they were responsive and helpful. They explained the process, had a complete packet of information that was complete and detailed. As we arrived late I was impressed when they kept the office open on a dark, rainy (and snowy) evening. A real good experience. I would recommend this organization.

Filthy carpet

This rental was nothing like it was described. It was in poor condition. Ripped furniture. Broken smoke detector. Dirty carpet. Broken glassware. Broken DVD player. Filthy disgusting jacuzzi. I reached out to the property management as soon as we arrived. They did not respond.

The guy at the check-in place was very cool, friendly, and likeable. The property at Timber Ridge was an excellent location. I could easily walk to and from the slopes from there. The hot tub at the club house was great. The main living area/kitchen was roomy and nice. The bedrooms were very ordinary. The furniture was old (drawers with built in VHS tape holders?). The Apple TV was missing a remote, rendering it useless. I called the maintenance man and left a message. Never heard back from him. We enjoyed being so close to the slopes, but the owner should update the furniture and carpet, especially for the price we paid to stay there.

101 Great Escapes Is absolutely amazing. They offer by far the best places to stay in Mammoth Lakes. Winter or summer you can not beat the locations. I have worked with Diane on many occasions She is very reachable and always returns my calls immediately. You cannot beat the customer service you receive with 101 Great Escapes. I highly recommend staying in Timberridge if you're looking to do ski in ski out.

It was well updated and the decor was pretty and modern. The available appliances were great (toaster oven, air fryer, large Hamilton crock pot, large tub washer/dryer, etc.) and in good working order. I must highlight, the kitchen knives were good quality and sharp. Quality plates and silverware. Parking was easy and convenient. The hot tub was the building adjacent from our rental. We very much enjoyed our stay. Dog friendly. We will definitely reserve this rental again.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. During a 3-night stay, we experienced numerous maintenance failures and extremely poor support. This unit is clearly not well maintained. The first night, the circuit breaker tripped and we lost power and lights in most of the unit for 12 hours. I called and messaged repeatedly and could not get help. Cooking in pitch black wasn't easy. There was no after-hours emergency number on their voicemail at the time (this appeared only AFTER the incident when I complained). I requested compensation and received none. I was even told there were "no issues," despite being on the phone during business hours and receiving verbal instructions on how to fix it myself. This involved first finding the circuit box outside, then resetting the switches & GFI buttons inside. Finding the unit was also unnecessarily difficult. It's in Building G. We searched for 45 minutes in the dark. This information is buried under "Amenities" instead of being included with check-in instructions. When I pointed this out, I was treated like I was the problem. Additional issues included a TV that randomly stopped working (outlet broke), an extremely finicky furnace (we fixed a broken wire), a broken wall heater, an unsafe and unusable couch bed (claiming it is 'fine' should reflect their standards) pellet bags piled in the living area, flimsy fixtures, a shower door that wouldn't close, and loud furnace/vent noises at night. They want to argue with me because they say it's an easy fix. Well this isn't my house. All I know is the power is out and I have no help in the dark. Don't know where the box is don't know the switches. Plus this was fun- they had a lock in the circuit box! No accountability. Bottom line: poorly maintained unit and terrible management. Their response below alone has been just as dismissive as they have always been. Beware

We have had several great rentals from this company, but the last one went south quickly. Would…read morenever recommend renting from this business again. We paid for the most expensive Airbnb condo at the foot of canyon lodge. We got into the unit and the property looked absolutely nothing like what we had reserved online. There was damage all over the place (baseboards missing, massive cracks across the entire kitchen countertop, half the lights in the unit weren't working, the front door has massive gaps in the door frame {large enough to stick a screw driver through} letting in could air, exterior windows broken that would not close during the middle of winter). Not to mention the facilities were overrun with drunken and teenagers smoking nefarious sunstances with glass bottles at the pool and spa. There were other dogs barking during the day and at all hours of the night, which triggered our dog. However, we weren't going to let this ruin our ski trip and we are not ones to complain. However, one of the personnel had the audacity to message me multiple times saying that our dog was barking and that eight people had lodged complaints, including videos. My daughter was in the unit and teenagers were running up and down the hallways, other dogs were barking and peeing on the surfaces outside of our room, people were screaming at each other, and the list goes on further. This includes two people shouting loudly and video recording outside of our unit of our dog barking at them. I brought this to their attention after they had contacted me and asked them politely what they were doing to resolve these matters so that we could come to a mutually agreeable solution as these items were triggering our dog. There kurt response was,"I'm not sure how anything you brought forth is relevant to these matters at hand and we will report you to airbnb". Not sure how it came to this as we've stayed three different times in Mammoth and never had any issues, but this seems to be a common symptom and response looking at the reviews.......a recurring trend. Hope the best for all else who rent from them in the future.

Employee at 5 star, Jason I believe, has very poor customer service. I booked an expensive ski in…read moreski out at Courchevel on Rainbow only to find out upon my arrival that there is only normal size garage parking available. These details are not clearly stated in the listing. When I spoke with Jason about this he was rude and inconsiderate. He said "Parking is problem in mammoth" no kidding, why do you think I booked an expensive place close to canyon lodge? Every other place on this street has adequate outdoor parking for a normal size truck. On top of that the heater doesn't even work properly in the unit I booked. 5 star has been no help. I would highly recommend never using Mammoth Five Star lodging at any of their properties. They're horrible. I've booked in mammoth 25-30 times this is by far the worst experience I've ever had.

I planned this trip with a group of friends, and they could not stop commenting about how the chalets was the best stay they've been in at Mammoth. We stayed at chalet #9 which was not a ski out, but a very short walk to the main lodge/lifts and definitely a ski in from lower road runner. The chalet itself was cozy with plentiful seating, and even extra foldable chairs for our group. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms came equipped with hotel sized toiletries, which was a nice touch. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped with all the necessities, along with a fridge/freezer that was the perfect size to fit all of our weekend groceries. I also appreciated that they even had a huge pot to make group meals like pho, even though I had already brought my own instant pot. I would 110% stay here again and recommend the chalets to all of my family and friends. This was such a wonderful find. Thank you for the awesome stay Mammoth Mountain Chalets! :)
