I would leave a 0 star review however that was not an option. Diane was not helpful at all when we stayed there March 28-April 1, 2026. The unit we rented (#39) did not have hot water and we were told that is normal and we should shower at the HOA pool/jacuzzi showers. It was also very dated and even the couch had torn cushions. The bathtub drain failed to drain water, the BBQ did not work even though we confirmed ahead of time that it was functional, screws were improperly screwed into the kitchen shelf leaving a short point exposed but not visible so I sliced my hand reaching for a glass. We ended up leaving a day early because the hot water issue was not resolved. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

Instead of providing customer service or trying to enhance the guest experience they simply ignore you or get annoyed with you. We were very disappointed in our stay. While we LOVED Mammoth, and plan to return many times, we will never book with this company again. The manager was inattentive and only responded when she wanted to. First of all, I asked about walking to the lift, and received no response. Reason being; they advertise ski in/ski out and that is not the case. This is why we booked a more expensive, yet smaller place - in a pandemic we wanted to limit our exposure in the lodge. You can, technically ski to a few chairs, but only after walking down a drive way, then walking down a steep hill that was not appropriate for skiing, particularly for young kids. Five days before we were set to arrive, I asked to extend my stay by one day, which the manager obliged. The first few days we were here, my son got very sick and I asked to cancel that last day we didn't plan for initially and the manager was entirely unsympathetic and rude. Understanding the cancellation policy, I would have appreciated some polite customer service here of perhaps offering to work with us, as good respectful tenants who would otherwise return many times. We ended up staying that extra night because we were paying for it anyway. There were numerous other issues. Upon arrival we noticed that the garage barely fit our mid-sized SUV. Not having the ski in/out capabilities that we planned for, this was very inconvenient. There wasn't even a way into the condo from inside the garage (there was a door- but again; I got no response when I asked about it). The carpet in the condo is absolutely filthy with stains everywhere, and needs to be replaced. Again, in a pandemic, you would expect utmost cleanliness. It seemed unsanitary. The couches were also very old and dust kicked up whenever we sat down. The back porch was snow-filled up to the ceiling and entirely unusable. Part of our vacation plans were to spend it with our friends-- outside-- and we could not do this because there were no snow removal services at the condo. The blinds are also broken. The place where the kitchen tiles meet the carpet also creates a gap due to a lack of repair where we have stubbed our toes many times. The beds in the room our kids stayed in were also mis-represented. The booking lists as a queen, in fact it is two beds pushed together, which none of the bedding we brought would fit. The tv remote did not work, there were barely any channels and we could not watch Netflix because of the broken remote. The DVD player also did not work. My husband and I were both here working for part of the trip, and the wifi only worked in the living room- and it was spotty at best. Finally, last night when we returned from dinner, we were locked out and the code did not work, as if the management company had already checked us out. Luckily someone answered the contact number and he was able to give me a new code. We spent a lot on this trip (around $500 a night including fees) and we do not feel like we received the appropriate service. read more

I can't say enough good things about the staff at great escapes. We accidentally left behind a very important item and it was shipped to us promptly overnight arriving the next day at 10 AM! Totally professional group of people. Regarding their rentals, and they have many of them, we stayed in a lovely townhome in the trees as opposed to a condo village. We rent a lot of vacation condos. It's a great way to vacation, especially with family and extended family. It's expensive, but not what you consider the comfort and ability to entertain and have meals in the comfort of a well appointed apartment. All that's to say that I am familiar with the concept, am comfortable with the costs, and have dealt with more than one rental company. 101 Great Escapes provided one of the best, professional and helpful experiences I have ever experienced. The company is operated by a husband and wife team. At every turn they were responsive and helpful. They explained the process, had a complete packet of information that was complete and detailed. As we arrived late I was impressed when they kept the office open on a dark, rainy (and snowy) evening. A real good experience. I would recommend this organization. read more

I give 101 a 2 star for the following reasons: - communications: I tried to reach Dianne several times to discuss charges. Left several messages and texts, finally got a response the day of arrival. - I feel I was incorrectly charges for a holiday weekend. I was charged double for one Thursday evening prior to the holiday beginning on the following Monday. When I asked about the charges I felt I was almost laughed at and matter of fact attitude. We recently rented a home managed by 101 Great Escapes through VRBO. I can't say enough great things about the customer service and communication from the 101 Great Escapes team! They were so accommodating and communicative when a big storm made it difficult to get up to Mammoth on the day we booked. Despite a delay in our ability to get up to Mammoth, they made our trip by graciously extending our stay, kept us up-to-date on road condition, and made sure we had all the information to get up to Mammoth safely! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! To start off, I booked through VRBO. Total was $621 with taxes and fees. After not receiving a confirmation with lodge information I reached out to the Property Management company. That's where I met Diane. She told me that we owed $853 for the rental directly to them. I told her that the total was $621 through VRBO (with and fees) and she said they have a cleaning fee and tax fee separate, which must not have been included. Also, the breakdown of "taxes and cleaning fee" didn't add up to the total. I told her I would have to call VRBO because 1) I've always paid the total to VRBO and 2) that was not the price that I booked it for. Contacted VRBO and they said it was okay to pay them directly as they have some bookings that way, but that the agreed upon charges were $621 and I shouldn't pay any more. Also that they frown upon rentals that try and change the prices after the fact. Mind you this is three days before our arrival. I call Diane back who was not helpful, completely rude, and unwilling to grant the price that it was booked under. And basically said that VRBO must have a problem with their integrated connection with them. I even "went through to book other dates to see the price and it was still $621." VRBO advised me to withdrawal from the reservation in writing, so Diane could cancel the reservation and I would get a refund of my services fees from VRBO. Did that, got confirmation that she cancelled the reservation and "was sorry this happened to me." Sorry that you wouldn't honor the price I booked it under??? Now two weeks later, still shows that I kept the reservation on my portal, and another hour on the phone with VRBO, where they stated they never received a cancellation and now have to investigate. It's been a nightmare and I wouldn't waste your time. Had to scramble to find another stay in less than 3 days. Thankfully I didn't give her my credit card information to add to the amount I'm waiting for as a refund. Only waiting on VRBO to refund the service fees. I only gave 1 star for the location and another star for the spaciousness of the condo. I booked the condo online through 101greatescapes.com. The site wasn't the easiest to navigate, it takes a bit of patience. After we selected a condo that was affordable and had a spa tub, we booked online. The confirmation looked a bit sketchy because it was simply the total amount, it didn't include an address or any pertinent information that is related to a "booked" confirmation. Check in process was easy. We went to the the office to pick up the keys, they are located in the same plaza as Vons. They gave us a packet and 2 keys to the condo and we were on the way. The condo was easy to find and upon entering, it looked very cozy. We unloaded our car and snowboarding gear and got settled in. We found the spa tub located upstairs, right outside the dining room area. It looked comfy after the snowfall. BUT when we lifted up the cover, we found dead bees or wasps in the water. Some were floating on top and there were 2-3 on the very bottom. After that, we figured it must not have been cleaned for a while so we didn't use the spa at all. The 2nd day, we saw giant ants swarming around the upstairs living room! They had wings!! They didn't bite us, so they're either giant ants or they're a form of termites. We called customer service to let them know, but by the time the maintenance guy called back, we told him that my husband and our friend went to Vons to get bug/ant spray. He said he was just going to be doing the same thing. He claimed that the condo gets cleaned out everytime it's rented out. I didn't believe him because we found spider webs around the condo in the kitchen and in the dining room area. Overall, it was a bit disappointing because I did not feel comfortable sleeping on the pullout bed with the ants/termites. We left a few of them on the kitchen counter for the maintenance or cleaning crew to see. We did not receive as much as an apology for the unwelcomed critters. I don't know how I feel about booking them again for future visits. read more

I have been using 101 Great Escapes to book my trips up to Mammoth for the past 10 years. My family usually does 2 trips a season, and we are always delighted to book through Diane. I have tried to stay mostly at Timber Ridge, but recently have stayed at other units. I love their units, promptness on working on any issues we may have, and most importantly the level of personal service I have received from them. Do not book with this company. I have been going to mammoth for 30 years and I have never experienced anything like this. They canceled my reservation two days before my arrival bc I asked where my confirmation email was and found out that they switched me to another condo that they claimed was the same. With some of my own research I found out that they rent the condo out for less money and it has one less bed. Something they should disclose. They are also holding onto $3000 of mine that they refuse to show proof of refund. Trust me. Do not waste your time. Diane the manager or owner screamed at me while I was on speaker with my 3 young children. Horrible customer service. Update 1/6- Diane - I wish that was the case. You were border line psychotic. The second i questioned one thing you flipped out and would not let me talk. To cancel a reservation 2 days before I am supposed to arrive is horrible to do to a family. It all worked out. We are in a great place and are the management company has been nothing but wonderful. Just please do your research there are plenty of places to rent from. The guy at the check-in place was very cool, friendly, and likeable. The property at Timber Ridge was an excellent location. I could easily walk to and from the slopes from there. The hot tub at the club house was great. The main living area/kitchen was roomy and nice. The bedrooms were very ordinary. The furniture was old (drawers with built in VHS tape holders?). The Apple TV was missing a remote, rendering it useless. I called the maintenance man and left a message. Never heard back from him. We enjoyed being so close to the slopes, but the owner should update the furniture and carpet, especially for the price we paid to stay there. read more

We stayed there the week of 8/8-8/10 in #123. We were a little closed minded as we were afraid of being let down. Instead, we absolutely loved it. Desk guy was very friendly, gave us suggestions on what we should explore and eat! We also got to check in early (2pm). The rooms are normal bedroom sizes. I got to stay in the upstairs bedroom which was very cozy. Pros: -Community hot tub that fits up to 15 people -Community sauna -Vons(Safeway), The Village, Dominos, and a bunch of local restaurants were only 8-10 minute drive -Lakes are very close by -TV in every room, All silverware/kitchenware/Towels are provided Cons: -No curtains on the window by door and living rooms. (people can see inside) -On 8/9 and 8/10, the hot water was shut off so it was like taking a really cold shower while ice cubes are being thrown at you. Overall it was a great experience and we hope to stay here again. In fact, we want to annually come back here for the summer. :) read more

We just came back from a week long stay in Mammoth. This was our second year renting through 101 Great Escapes. We were extremely happy with last year's service so we rented from the again this year. I was contacted by them on Saturday (the day before our arrival) to let me know that they were going to have to move us to another condo due to maintenance taking place at our original rental. At first I panicked because we needed specific sleeping arrangements. However, I was told that due to the inconvenience to us, we could choose ANY condo on their website! She strongly suggested their highest end condo at no additional charge to our group. Our group was very pleased. We truly appreciate their generosity. They could have easily offered us a condo within the same price range as we had rented, but upgraded us instead! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had a similar experience to a customer below where the booking confirmation between 101 and vrbo was a miss in terms of interacting with their app.... and I ended up booking another condo in the interim. While there was clearly a misunderstanding that I will not go into here in detail, I was hoping to walk through resolution issues and at the very least be treated as a customer who just spent A LOT of money. I must note, While 101 did not do anything wrong in the booking process and the woman at the front desk was very friendly (and the condo appeared to be very nice and clean) the customer service was beyond terrible. I have never been treated so rudely then I was by the manager, Diane. I have never written a bad review about anything, in my life. Seeing this exact experience also took place with another reviewer below just several weeks ago leads me to believe that there is in fact an issue, with the booking and with their crappy customer service. read more

We recently had an Airbnb reservation for a property in Mammoth that was allegedly under quarantine. Diane, the host at 101 Great Escapes moved our reservation to another available property without our notification or consent. We learned about the quarantined property after our arrival at the reassigned property, which was a bit of a downgrade from the property that we previously reserved and did not meet our party's needs for the weeklong stay, and most importantly did not meet our need to feel safe during a pandemic and safety for a toddler and senior. The property lacked the ability to be adequately ventilated by opening windows and having a stale corridor and elevator to gain access to the apartment (which we specifically avoided). We called Diane to discuss the property mix-up and her updates that she reassigned us to this property without our notification or consent, Diane hung up on us. We were left in a predicament. We had a car loaded with food for the week, a senior, a toddler, and us stranded in bear country - which means that sleeping in the car was not an option. We were unable to find an available hotel at 7pm, in the peak of summer travel season. We reluctantly stayed one night with the given situation. For those who are traveling during the pandemic, confirm the property by phone before leaving home to reduce the likelihood of getting stuck with a property that you did not reserve. We ended up cancelling and having to cover the cleaning fee. We were lucky to find another property, so the getaway was not a total loss, just two days of stress and possible virus exposure in the poorly ventilated spaces. Good luck and stay safe! read more

This is literally the worst customer service experience I've ever had. After trying to contact Great Escapes twice through Booking.com and receiving no answer, I used the number provided by Booking.com to contact them directly, and the extremely rude manager, Diane answered. Before I could even explain my question, she began talking over me in a rude tone, stating that she already knew what my question was. Interesting. Business must be pretty terrible if you have only one request coming in. Anyway, I again tried to explain why I was calling, but could not get a word in. At one point, I even said "can I please say something?" and she continued to talk over me in her extremely rude tone. Needless to say, Diane did not accommodate my request, and when I called back and asked to speak with a manager, she said she was the manager and there was no one above her. I asked then for the owner, and she refused, and actually hung up on me after sarcastically saying "you have a lovely day." My Booking.com rep also tried giving her a call, and said she received the same terrible treatment, and would forward a complaint to Booking.com's hotel department. I have never been treated so poorly, and will never use Great Escapes again. There are far too many places to stay in Mammoth to put up with this type of treatment. Update as of 9/8/15: To be clear, I have no problem with the cancellation policy at Great Escapes, the only problem I have is with the treatment I received when asking about it. Since we could not get our money back if we cancelled, my sister called to see if upgrading to a larger place would be possible, so she and her husband could use the place if we weren't able to. Diane twice confirmed with my sister that this would be no problem. After driving 6 hours from LA, my sister goes to check in and Diane tells her she has cancelled her reservation, that she is now on the "do not rent" list (whatever that is), proceeds to call me, her sister, a "horrible person," and asks some poor bystander at the office if she is Kristen, because if she is, she needs to get out. I'm sorry, what?! Your business receives negative feedback, so you pull a stunt like this? If you choose to stay with Great Escapes, be sure you don't give any negative feedback, or you might arrive to find that Diane has cancelled your reservation without telling you! Unreal. My sister was able to quickly find another larger, less expensive place, with a lovely and polite management staff. Again, too many great places in Mammoth to deal with this kind of treatment. I have never written a review before but today I felt compelled to. Had an interaction with an employee named Diane. I tried to explain that I had never received a booking confirmation within the 24 hour allotted period. Then I tried to explain the steps I had taken to try and get the confirmation and how after 72 hours without confirmation I had to book another property. She cut me off at every sentence, tried to tell me how I had indeed received one. I tried to explain how I had checked the 'trash' file and still, she argued and cut me off. I was blown away by how someone her industry could behave that way. I hope her employer has a conversation with her about the importance of customer service and attitude. read more

OMG! I have been wanting to review this place for a long time now. Let me first say this is the most convenient website I have used to book a place in Mammoth. Have been booking with them now for more than 3 winter seasons .. they are wonderful! I've booked not only their 1 bedroom/studios, but also I've booked their 2 and 3 bedrooms as well. All have been very very nice, especially the ones that are walking distance to eagle lodge, such as Aspen Creek, Summit, and Sunstone. The ones that are close to the village are awesome as well, such as Helio's north and south and Val D' Isere. Their prices are great. Since the first time I've booked I have been getting a discount of $20 off per night I stay because I have stayed with them before. They do this to keep their customers coming... which is pretty cool! Every time I go into their office everyone is super nice... especially Sara. She is very friendly and always helpful. It always surprises me when she remembers me from the previous seasons. That's cool she remembers her customers. Last time I went was during their big snow storm in December and I got a chance to meet Bob and Diane, the owners. They were wonderful as well. That day I checked in after the snowstorm Sara informed me that our condo wasn't ready yet and it would take about 45 to 60 more minutes, She apologized and told us she would let us know exactly when it was ready. So we sat in their waiting area and met Bob. He was their to make sure we were taken care of. They had wine, champange, hot chocolate, cider, cookies, brownies in the waiting area, which was super nice. We got to drink and talk to Bob while we waited! That was cool! :) But they always have goodies there when you check in and check out. The point is, I know they would do anything for their customers to make them happy. That is why I keep coming back and referring my friends. Even my friends get a $20/night discount. Awesome perk! I had a really good experience with this company. I was a little hesitant just because I didn't want to be ripped off. I picked the keys up at their main office and was greeted with a nice packet of brochures of things we could do in the area. It turned out to be great, the cabin was really nice, well stocked, and clean. We stay in ValDIsere, really nice complex only down side is there's no frills to bbq on which isn't really the company's fault and I should've doubled checked before going. read more

From the reservations to anything that comes up while we are staying there, she is always happy to help. We will continue to book through her as we plan more trips to Mammoth!! While I was searching for a condo rental in Mammoth, I came across the 101 Great Escapes website...and I'm glad I did. If you're looking for accommodations in Mammoth, give 101 Great Escapes a call. For the same price that I would normally pay directly through a condo management company or the reservation bureau, I got a much larger and a MUCH nicer unit. The customer service is A+! Sarah helped us with our reservation and went out of her way to ensure that we enjoyed every minute of our vacation. I will recommend their service to all of my friends and family. We stayed in the Huntington unit 93. The condo itself interior is pleasant. Hallways are under construction and pipes are exposed. The units are poorly insulated. The unit above #94 is so loud. You can hear people walking around constantly well into the early hours of the morning. The Village at Mammoth is much quieter. We love Mammoth and will be back! Bob with 101greatescapes.com was responsive and came over to talk to the people above regarding the noise as apparently they were having a dinner party with approximately 12 people in there condo. Even so you can hear simple walking to the bathroom and the fan running through the ceiling. read more

Diane Stilwell is a scam artist. RUN AWAY! Diane Stilwell will rip you off and when you are not happy she will not refund you and will not return any of your calls. I tried to book through Booking.com and when the place was not as advertised (the location was misrepresented on the listing) I tried to cancel. The listing was clearly designed as a bait and switch. They would not allow me to cancel even though we just made the reservation and the listing was misguided. The joke is on her all I had to do was cancel my credit card. This was a complete scam run by 101 Great Escapes. Buyer beware. RUN AWAY fast. You can pick a better company to book through. Dealing with Diane Stilwell specifically is a disaster. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more
