We love our 1 Kitchen! - Social proof achieved! All the 1 Kitchen staff and all their great daily efforts bring the very good feeling to everyone. After the FIFA soccer playoffs, becoming a civilized neighbourhood hang.
Always an easy option for a meal option. The food is always fresh and slightly elevated than your average menu. The ambience casual with great staff who are attentive but also able to read the room and allow you time and space to catch up with friends or just sit in peace and quiet. I do prefer their dinner menu as I love their hummus and Brussels sprouts, but their brunch is also delicious.
Look I've tried this place 6 times same breakfast. I come here every two weeks, and this time could be my last. First you're not community place if you charge 9 dollars for a latte. Second I asked for based eggs, which is basically steamed eggs they cook perfectly, but yet this kitchen can't seem to get that. I don't understand why you have to overexplain breakfast in general. It's amazing how many people screw up eggs and bacon. This place does this everyday of the week. Honestly please just close your doors. We do not need another over priced restaurant that has no idea how to cook. If you have your breakfast or lunch meetings here you better off to go to McDonald's for the food it's a step up from this place. Seriously things need to change here. The food has not been great since it was the Thompson Hotel when the building first open. Let's breakdown this breakfast for you. Mixed potatoes were terrible over cooked. Eggs I sent back because they couldn't get them right. Bacon taste like it's been deep fried even though they say smoked. You can tell a lot by how good a restaurant is by their breakfast. So if you cannot get breakfast right that says it all right there. I'm sick of restaurants of any kind who just think a nice decor equals a nice breakfast , sadly it does not. Do yourself a favour go to a local spot that's open and if not then completely avoid this place for its food. You deserve better Toronto than this place that just can't get it right. Not only do you deserve better, but literally for two vanilla lattes and bacon and eggs with tip cost me $54 for breakfast unbelievable Please hurry up go out of business. Your food is terrible. And yes, this will be the last time that I come to this establishment/crappy hotel.
After a less experience at Harriets I came downstairs for dinner. Had to be quick about it. The sun sets at 8:18. The restaurant closes at 9:00. It's tagged as a Michelin restaurant. It's not. The hotel is Michelin rated. Service was excellent. I enjoyed a local Canadian Pinot noir which was quite good. I was dining so low so it was a entree only kind of meal. I had the pork chop and opted for Caesar salad instead of watercress. Both were excellent pork was well cooked succotash was good enjoyed my meal.
Upon entering I was greeted with such a warm welcome, the environment is so beautiful with its dim lighting and comfy seating. Very cozy indeed, I can see people coming here for the winter for great meals and a comfortable evening! Food: [5/5] Corn Caesar Salad: This salad was so delicious I actually enjoyed it more than the pasta! (which was also very delicious). I'm not sure if it's the dressing they use mixed in with the bacon from the salad but it was just so delicious! I loved it! Spicy rigatoni: [5/5] Although it wasn't spicy it was still creamy and delicious! I enjoyed it so much. The Stracciatella made the pasta a lot more creamier as well! Steak (side): [5/5] This steak was phenomenal! It was seasoned beautifully and was the best side for the salad and the pasta (more-so the salad). I asked for it well done and got it well done and it was so delicious. Highly recommend the steak! Iced Biscoff Espresso: [5/5] Very strong but also balanced out by how sweet it is. It also looks nice as well. Service [5/5] Jay/Maxine -- My servers that night (9/22) were very friendly and fast when it came to service, he told me to flag him down when ready but he had a lot going on and I didn't want to disturb him especially since I was dining alone. But even with all that he had a smile on his face and remembered my order from top to bottom without writing it down. He also wished me an early happy birthday which was very nice of him and gave me some things to do while I'm visiting toronto. Thank you jay! Maxine also made sure I was ok making sure everything was fine, I was enjoying my meal, and had everything I needed. Ambiance: [5/5] This place is great for a date night / solo night with dim din lighting and comfy seating. It ms very beautiful and has a warm aesthetic to it I'd recommend this place highly for the looks alone! Overall, with a great atmosphere, fantastic service, and great food, comes with an even better time and I really enjoyed my night at this restaurant. Affordable if you're looking to alone or with a plus one. Highly recommend! Thank you Jay & Maxine!
Really great food and wonderful service. Their beverage selection was huge - any juice blend you could imagine. The thoughtful details were not expected but delightful - my friend ordered just a bagel with cream cheese and it came with flowers topping the cream cheese. Wish I got a picture.
Really cute cafe/brunch spot. I really like that they have coffee and cocktails! I got the Norwegian smoked salmon egg Benedict which was really good. I like that their potatoes are a mix or sweet potatoes, taro and regular potatoes. I also really liked the chicken and waffles. I thought their portions could have been a bit bigger though for the price. Their drinks are really pretty as well. I got the Biscoff espresso, I do wish it was a big stronger but other than that we had a good time. Our server was also very kind and very patient.
We stopped on here for an early dinner and had a great experience. Our server was very attentive and took the time to go over the menu and make the gluten free substitutions as requested. The ambience is gorgeous and our food was great. We all loved the soap in the bathroom too!
Came here for Saturday brunch with my husband. A much needed break for us. There are a couple of Greenp parking lots near by. As we entered, we were greeted by friendly crew. They had our table ready. We didn't get the best view table cuz just the 2 of us so smaller table for us but their ambience and decor was pretty cool and natural..very calming yet modern. No loud music. Lots of people with friends, family and we saw lot of babies too...not seen many babies at brunch places like this. This was unusual yet good feeling of inclusivity. Service was top notch. Crew was friendly. Food was freshly prepared. Limited options for people who are vegetarian but don't eat egg. We got avocado toast so we were goid. Hope they add some options for this dietary requirements. We had a great experience. We'll be coming back.
We went here for Sunday Brunch, and it's very homey, cute, and comfortable. The menu had options for the savory and sweet breakfast fans alike, and our server was super kind and attentive. He brought us vanilla lattes, which I hadn't originally seen on the menu. I got the French toast, which was super filling, but very good. My friend and I both really enjoyed our meal and we would definitely go back!
We were here for a friend's birthday dinner. The service was stellar. Very friendly and helpful with a lot of great suggestions. Started tried a few of their signature cocktails. I was a fan of the feel-good margarita. It had turmeric around the rim instead of salt, which was interesting. We shared the pumpkin dip. It was served with Taro chips, which none of us had ever had before. It was delicious. I ordered rigatoni, which was a fresh take on a classic. The sauce was a Parmesan cream sauce with a garlic crunch. I also tried brussel sprouts in Garden roasted carrots. Everything was delicious. The brussel sprouts were interesting they were very light and crispy. We were there for a friend's birthday, and her son had a tray of desserts delivered to the table for all of us to share. So we got to try a little bit of everything. They were all good, but I think my favorite was the spiced cake with berries.
We found 1 Kitchen sort of by accident, as we were shopping nearby at Stackt Market, and wanted a place where we could sit down inside and eat which wasn't a 'fast food feel'. A quick review of the menu convinced us that all three in our group could find something they liked, so we walked over around 1:30 pm on a Wed. There were several tables with groups of diners, but still lots of space available. The hostess decided to put us in a booth next to a window, which was perfect. The plants throughout the interior gave the place a comfortable peaceful vibe, and the light from outside made it feel bright and airy, but still cozy inside. The menus are online and you have to scan a bar code to see the offerings - this was one thing we didn't like. We know it's more environmentally friendly, especially when menus change often, but all of us had trouble getting the pages to load since we were from the states and roaming. There didn't seem to be a paper option though. Our server, Maxine, was great. She was very friendly and attentive. Among us we ordered a burger, an Earth Bowl, and a beet salad with added falafel. The burger came with a 'sea buckthorn jam' which we had never heard of, but Maxine was able to explain what it was like (sweet and tangy), offered to have the kitchen put it on the side, and also suggested some options for the fries that would compliment the zaatar spice. We appreciated all of her suggestions. The diversity of food offerings is amazing, with lots of vegan and vegetarian options and ways to add protein to any veggie-forward dish. We loved all of the food, but here are a few notes: The burger was perfectly cooked and served on a potato bun with a side of very thin pickles - it was very well balanced flavor and fat wise, and really enjoyable. The portion of zaatar fries it came with was huge and enough for all 3 of us to share. The Earth Bowl was a lovely mix of long grain wild rice, roasted butternut (?) squash, chick peas, sunflower seeds, herbs, avocado and a delicious lime cilantro dressing. My sister is very sensitive to ingredients that are old or off and she remarked how very fresh and clean this tasted. The beet salad was served with a generous portion of beets over a roasted cauliflower puree. The description said it had a maple walnut dressing, pickled pears, fennel and candied pistachios. I added falafel for some carbs and protein. It was delicious but was very light on the nuts, and the pears and fennel were not detectable flavor wise...I would have enjoyed the depth from more flavors... So overall, a lovely experience that I look forward to repeating, but I took a star off since the menu would be a challenge if you didn't have good cell service, and my dish fell short of expectations based on the menu description.
Wait staff was amazing, even remembering me and my plans that were discussed during our dining experience! Food, juices, smoothies, and lattes were perfection. Not complaints, thank you 1 Kitchen waitstaff!

Made resos here before but cancelled because the person on the phone didn't sound very friendly. Luckily I got the chance to actually eat here with friends on a Sunday morning. Service was spectacular. Very nice, knowledgable about the menu and attentive. Food was amazing. I got the sweet potato waffles with chicken. The waffles were so good. I don't know what was in it, but it was so so good. The chicken was nicely good as well. My friends got the omelette, huevos rancheros and eggs bennie and all were amazing as well. They have patios that are covered with umbrellas, so it's great for summer as it won't get too hot. However, it's a little chilly in the morning in September. Bring a jacket or sweater. Highly recommend. read more
A very trendy, light filled and modern aesthetic, coupled with great and personable service made our meal a delightful one. I ordered the 6ix, eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon with a latte, and it was very tasty. They forgot to butter the toast, that was the only snafu. My companion ordered the French toast. I would come back to try their other nice looking and artfully presented brunch items. Convenient parking right across the street. read more

The restaurant is just as beautiful as the hotel. I love how they keep the aesthetic throughout both the hotel and restaurant. Our server was friendly and gave recommendations. We were sat immediately which was surprising considering it was Mother's Day and we failed to make a reservation for breakfast anywhere. We enjoyed our meal and can't wait to go back for dinner or try one of the other restaurants on site. read more

It was a cool spot located in a trendy hotel in the trial area. It was not one of those spots that are only well liked by tourist and by people staying in a hotel, but is also worth going to as a local. We got the crocque Madame, which was very tasty, but on the smaller and for the price of over $25. It was good, but was not the best that I've had and it's definitely a small portion with a side salad. The atmosphere is truly wanna make this place remarkable . There is lots of hanging plants and excellent service. It is very easy to make a reservation for even during the holiday times. The staff are really accommodating and it was a very relaxing environment and you did not feel rushed to leave if you were still having your coffee and chatting. I definitely think is a place worthwhile to visit if it's in your budget. Expect to spend around $40-$50 for brunch or lunch but it is an excellent time for a nice quality catch-up. read more
Came here with a group of friends for Sunday brunch. This place is very aesthetic. We shared the chicken & sweet potatoes waffles, beets and walnut salad and smoked salmon egg Benedict. I also got an coconut ice matcha latte. I enjoyed every dish, the presentation was beautiful and everything tasted amazing. They have more unique options relative to other typical brunch places. There is a seating limit for brunch so we were kind of rushed out of the restaurant. But other than that I would add this place to your list of brunch places to try in Toronto! read more

Good food, great ambiance & beautiful bright modern aesthetic throughout the hotel its located inside of. We visited for brunch & the food was pretty good. A major bonus is that the dishes are made using fresh, local & sustainably sourced ingredients + that this is a zero water operation. I wasn't particularly impressed by the service. There were many servers however they were not very attentive, they tend to go hang out at the front hostess booth. I had trouble waving our server over a couple of times. To conclude, the space is absolutely beautiful & I will definitely give it another chance once they have been open longer. Their Saturday & Sunday brunch runs from 7am-4pm. read more

At first we were a little taken back, the menu was a bit confusing and we were unsure why only brunch was offered at 3pm on a Saturday. Though we had a lovely time. Our server Shar was so kind, funny and attentive to supporting us. She always checked in on us and suggested the best drinks. The food was superb with beautiful flavours, it was a lovely experience. read more
Intrigued by the farm to table and interiors - I booked a lunch reso. The restaurant ambience gives off a west coast vibe. I was surprised to see that majority of the plant decor, if not all, were real. You can see an irrigation system of some sort hidden on the beams. I was fixed on ordering the 1 Kitchen Vegan Sliders. I couldn't help but live out my dream of eating a krabby patty (haha). Sad to say the sliders were dry. I had to get my water refilled multiple times in order to finish it. I couldn't really get a taste of the shawarma spice, it was overpowered by the caramelized onions. I think I will have to come back to try their extensive drink and brunch menu. That seems to be the move! read more
I am obsessed with how obsessed this place is with itself! And the environment. The food is varied and delicious with good options for all diets (vegan included), and they source most of the ingredients from within 100 miles and have thousands of plants inside to purify the air and give a relaxing atmosphere. My only trouble was hearing my group over the music, but the staff were great and I loved my food and the ethics behind it. read more

My kids and I were walking down Bathurst and many store fronts were shuttered for good. It was looking bleak and we didn't want to walk much further so our options that moment was either Dominoes Pizza or 1Kitchen. The ambiance here is quite charming. I can see this as a good date spot. It's afternoon on Good Friday and they were serving brunch. The prices here were outrageous. $9 for a glass of regular orange juice? This is not a fine dining restaurant, it's just eggs, waffles, French toast on the menu. I'm from New York and I've been to Michelin restaurants. $18 for a piece of avocado toast served on a petite plate, albeit beautiful, at this price point I wished they gave a 2nd piece of bread to make a sandwich. $23 for an egg and cheese sandwich served in a hamburger bun and not artisanal bread. $25 eggs Benedict was the only thing that we ordered that was worthwhile. It takes a modicum of skill to perfectly poach eggs a la minute. It was a busy day and we waited approx 45 min for our food and then another wait for our check. Most of the tables around us also sat for some time without any food. In summary, 5 star decor, 1 star menu prices, 3 star food, 2 star location. read more

I came here for vacation and had to eat at the 1 kitchen. Everything is locally sourced which I love. You can tell with the freshness of everything provided. I had the pumpkin seasonal waffle and WOW. It did not disappoint. Also, I have to point out Aziz was truly the greatest server ever. He was so helpful and made sure I satisfied every craving! I really wanted a drink that I once had in 1 Hotel West Hollywood and showed him a photo and he managed to do something very similar. This is what customer service is about! The place is so clean and makes you feel welcomed at home. read more

Soooo good! Visiting from California and picked this place mostly for the aesthetic and was very pleasantly surprised how accommodating the entire staff are, and of course, the fresh ingredients made the food so delectable! It was so good we wanted seconds! Bonus part, since 19 is the legal drinking age in Canada, we requested a drink for my daughter, who turned 19. We said we wanted a "pretty and Instagrammable" drink, and the manager made it herself! It was yummy and very pretty! read more

We had an amazing brunch here. The restaurant felt luxurious and relaxing. The food was delicious and fresh tasting. The host and our waiter made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of at all times, including asking about my allergies and pulling my chair out for me. I will revisit when I come back to Toronto. read more

1 Kitchen had an amazing assortment of options for brunch from juices to hot drinks to cocktails, and of course food and dessert. We had the Sweet Potato waffles and fried chicken, and their BYO-Omelet (Heirloom tomato, bacon, mushroom and side salad). Both were done to perfection. The ambiance was gorgeous on a sunny day with all the plants hanging from the ceiling. Our server made everything even better. Recommend to reserve in advance! A new addition to my Toronto brunch spot rotation. read more

We came here for a brunch while visiting in Toronto. The vibes were amazing- the place was adorable inside. Our server J/ Josiah explained the concept of the restaurant which made us appreciate their efforts as we dined. Josiah was the best! So friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and had it's unique spin on the dishes. We would recommend to anyone visiting and might need to come back ourselves another time. Thanks J and 1! read more
Located inside the new and sustainable 1 hotel (previously the Thompson), this place may be the perfect spot for weekend brunch! Their staff was super attentive and friendly, and the food was well portioned and delicious. We ordered the 6ix and huevos rancheros, along with their cold pressed grapefruit juice and a mocha. We also loved the hotel lobby next door and it seems like the perfect place to come in for some undisrupted work time or even for some business meetings! Def a place worth checking out with either your SO or a group of friends! read more
If you don't mind the noise while enjoying a nice brunch, this is your place. It was packed on a Sunday morning, mostly young people enjoying the weekend brunch. Food was good, cocktails were fascinating with interesting combinations. Our server was very attentive. Although this isn't the place to linger around as the noise eventually gets to you. It's one of those places where you just eat and go. Would I be back? Maybe not anytime soon. read more
if I won the 649, I think I would live the minimalist style and just move into the hotel and have my daily breakfast from the 1 kitchen. You may not be a granola/yogurt lover, but guess what - their granola is DIVIIIIIIINE. I could eat that every day (in fact on my last day, they ran out, and I swore I ate all they granola supply during the week. I did it. my bad. sorry. It's thaaaat GOOD!) when I had eaten all their granola I tried the overnight oats and guess what - HOLEE smokes - that good too!!!! thick oat chia coconut goodness... I have tried to make this overnight sensation but it never jigs. Try it & you will be satisfied. the egg white scramble is also a delight. it's savory.. I swore there could be yolks because it feels hearty... the mushrooms in it was my selling point. I love sautéed mushrooms and that w/ kale scrammie was excellent. now.. the bacon egg and cheese sandwich was good but perhaps too much eggy though the side potatoes was awesome. Berry, green or tropical smoothies also great. I loved the tropical one because it's summer and I felt like piña. This kitchen is 1 to deliver. read more

Stopped in for lunch while on a visit to Toronto. It's a really nice looking place. The decor is very inviting. The food was also super tasty and creative. The drinks were also really good. That's where the good stuff ends. So we arrived around 130 for lunch, walked in and found a pretty empty dining room. We went to the hostess stand and asked for a table for 2. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't. She then looked around and walked away to ask someone a question. When she returned, she asked if we were guests of the hotel, which we weren't. She then took my phone number and said she'd see what she could do. She spoke to what I'm guessing was a manager. This person came over and asked all the same questions and said they'd get a table ready for us. Don't forget that there are at least 30 empty tables in the restaurant. They seat us and our waitress comes over, takes our order and seems like she's completely new at this. The food and drinks were good, but the service horrible. I didn't appreciate being asked all those questions and waiting 10 minutes for a table in an empty restaurant. read more
