    For real with this lady?
    Mike L.

Ordered a chicken bacon ranch, it lacked bacon, but had an entire solid slice of onion in exchange. The jalapeño poppers left much to be desired, but the girl falling off the chair at 6:30 on a Tuesday afternoon made up for it. I even got a consolation prize, a frozen beer that wouldn't stop overflowing. The only upside was laughing at the wasted lady my moms age dancing on the table to meatloaf. Stay classy Potsdam..

Driving by this place 100 times made me itch, so here we go. Was in a adult beverage mood and hungry. They have outside seating, a dining room on one side, and a bar on the other. It was cozy in a retro type of way with a classic, "Here's your Bar" feel. Service was attentive and honest, thank you for that, and the beer was cold. 12 wings split (sorry, I'm a wing fanatic but hang on) in 2 sauces, and a turkey broccoli melt was ordered first. The food had an unusually long time for what I expected, maybe a half hour, but for bar food, that's a little on the slow side. When the food finaly arrived, I thought initially it looked good. Wings were nice and crispy and both sauces were plentiful, which I prefer. Garlic parm, and a sweet and spicy. The garlic was fantastic, pizza hut could have bought their recipe, and the sweet spicy had good flavor, but I UNFAIRLY have to say little heat, i like things hott. But the wings were great, and I will be back for them. Little smaller than a jumbo size, but not a rip off. (Pizza hut) these were good, I'll be back for them. The sandwich was ok. Inventive, and my wife loved it, but it was missing something for me, maybe a sauce spread or a sharp cheddar would have boosted it, but she was happy, and loved the fresh cut fries. At this point I would have been pretty happy with my experience, and would have probably put 4 stars in (as 5 would be a REALLY good bar) but I had to take a to go order to make up for my wings. I ordered the blue cheese burger with bacon to go, and asked to load it up. Being half tons, I figured they should nail the burger. Well, I was dissapointed. No veggies except for pickles, dry, flavorless patty, and just a meh' type of burger. But all in all, I enjoyed my stay, definitely a wing place, esp for garlic lovers.

    Would've preferred cheddar cheese pringles

Was there in Potsdam for a meeting and stopped in on a Thursday evening. Even though it's a butcher…read moreshop and called Hoof and Horn, I actually went in for vegetarian options noted on Yelp. The space is minimalist and gives old fashioned turn of the 20th century vibes. There's obviously a lot of pride and a commitment to local foods here. We ordered the night's cocktail special the New York Sipper -yum- the Raquette salad, two of the small (not small at all) plates that were on special that night: the creamy barley risotto and the butternut squash and mushroom parpadella. As a main course, we shared the house-made mushroom burger, savory and flavorful. Everything was fantastic, with many earthy, fresh and delicious flavors and a variety of textures. We clearly ordered too much food, since the small plates were actually full portion-size. Skipped dessert, although the special was tiramisu. They're under a lot of pressure to compete in Potsdam, but they're doing something that shows classical training and a commitment to quality. Several Finger Lakes wines on the list. Prices are astonishingly low for such an excellent meal. Note: tip is included and there were no "lighter" meats like poultry or fish on the menu. Thus the great vegetarian options, I assume.

That said, our server was very attentive and took our orders promptly. My two kids both ordered the special of the day, a short rib ramen, while my wife chose the chicken salad sandwich. I ordered their take on a French dip sandwich. The food was good overall, certainly enjoyable and well-prepared, but nothing really stood out as particularly memorable. While I appreciated the friendly service, the overall experience didn't leave a strong impression on me. It was a decent lunch, but I'm not sure I would make a point of returning on a future visit to the area.

They have ample parking available so that was a plus. With a surprisingly warm day for October we enjoyed sitting outside on their patio which had little touches in attempting to make it tropical with fake palm trees. Indoor was set up like your typical rustic bar/pub. Drink wise they offered what you'd expect from a full bar with beers, wine, and cocktails. They had a good list of around 8 seasonal cocktails. I got the apple cider margarita and my wife got the cranberry Paloma. Both were huge and delicious and great for fall drinks. We were tempted for the appetizer pork belly tacos but decided against it. Meal wise my wife got the French dip and I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich changed to a wrap. Both were delicious meals and the fries were perfectly crispy. If you read my review so far you'd likely wonder why it's 3 stars and not 4 or 5. Well that would come down to the service we had. Host was friendly and we were sat right away. It was our server that was disappointing in quality of service. When we first showed up it was not busy really at all and it took a long time for our server to show up the first time and also our drinks took a long time too. Once our food arrived we did not see our server again in any way until paying our check, no checking on us or if we enjoyed our meal or anything. So if you plan on coming here for a meal you can except good food and drinks just not sure how the service you get will be. Despite the good meal I would likely look elsewhere next time.

I order my food at 8:48 and without any notification, they tell me they stop making food at 8:45. Really? I didn't get silverware and had to use bar napkins and now I'm 3 minutes past kitchen time! This was perfect location wise just being a short distance from our hotel. Getting into the area early Saturday morning meant tons of street parking so that was no issue. Stepping inside they have plenty of seating and I can imagine it would be a perfect spot to study for college classes for the students. The space was open and felt inviting. Service was friendly and quick with no issues. One worker taking care of drinks while another worked on the food with the one more free taking orders. They have most of what you would expect a coffee spot to have drink wise for both coffee and teas with seasonal and special flavors too. Food wise they have loads of breakfast and lunch bagel sandwich options with a good variety of bagel flavors to change it up as well. Drink wise my wife got their pumpkin latte seasonal and loved it, while I got the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte that was solid once mixed a little more. Food wise we both liked the sound of their Lumberjack that came with two eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, and a maple syrup drizzle. We differed on our bagel choice with my wife picking cinnamon raisin and I chose cinnamon French toast. Both bagels were delicious and well made and the sandwiches were tasty just would likely ask for either lighter maple syrup or none next time. Made quite a mess and made it a bit too sweet but no real complaints. We were happy to try this spot out and would be a spot we would frequent if we were local! Good drinks and tasty bagels with really endless choices for sandwiches when you consider all the bagel choices. If you want a bagel meal if you are in the area check this place out!
