About a HKD 92 or roughly USD 12, these have to be the most expensive momos I have eaten till date. I did see the price before ordering but I was thinking they might a whole platter for that price. I stood corrected. So while they stood out on the price, they'd not and out on the taste. Add to the hilarity of the situation that my son went on about how I ordered smelly food and reserve stinky place. It was the cauliflower in the momos the cauliflower in the momo that he was talking about.Let's just say carrots, corn, cauliflower and Nepalese spices didn't taste as good, served as momos. Their green and red chutneys though could be the best I've eaten in Hong Kong. Fresh and feisty. They were served alongside masala papad, on the house. They skimped on the quantity of mangoes put in the mango lassi. At roughly USD 7 for a glass size that I would call small, the least you can do is be generous with the fruit portion when we order the beverage? It hardly looked yellow. How else do you justify the high prices? SOHO, Mid Levels, again? The samosas didn't come with a tamarind chutney but they were good. And four in number - decent sized ones. I'd come here craving samosas and happy to say that craving was satisfied, though tamarind chutney along would've been cherry on the cake. The mixed vegetables with paneer were absolutely disappointing. Too sweet. Tasted of sweet, undercooked tomato sauce. And broccoli doesn't do well with the South Asian subcontinent style of cooking. I don't know why they don't get it? Do you? The tandoori naan tasted a bit raw and dry. I may come here for the samosas again (and probably sneak in my own homemade tamarind chutney), but not sure about the other things. Their menu did look pretty elaborate. Yes, not a typo, this Indian restaurant is located inside the Queen Street Cooked Food Market. You will find the escalators across from the 7-11 on the corner of Ko Shing Street to take you up to the dai pai dong. The manager/head guy (might be an owner, not sure) has the nicest friendliest face. He is Nepalese. His nephew was working as a waiter that night. Keep'n it real in the family. Service was friendly, simple, quick. Not forging new ground on customer service here, but staff seemed happy we were there. NAAN! I might have the cheese naan bread from Chautari on final meal list if I knew I were going to die tomorrow. It is that cheesy, piping hot, buttery and delicious. But in addition to my addiction to carbs via naan bread, we enjoyed basmatti rice, fish curry and saagwala paneer (spinach and cheese...love any culture to includes cheese in any dish!) Everything is cooked to order, tastes home made like from some old Indian woman's kitchen and all dishes arrived in good presentation, piping hot, super flavorful and colorful to boot. We will be back.

I'm normally an advocate for our local businesses, but I can't be so generous with this venue. We grabbed a big table on a lovely afternoon. Great view across the bay towards islands and the City. Plenty of day trippers wandering past to keep us entertained. Lots of room at the tables outside on the pavement. So far so good. We ordered an assortment of dishes: pizza, fried squid, wings, fish and chips, nachos, olives... olives and wings were good. Everything else was lacklustre: flat pizza, over cooked fish batter, and nachos comprised of the chip crumbs from the bottom of the bag. Disappointing all round. Hence my advice to come here only for a drink. Milkshakes were good. Unimpressed with the wait staff taking a smoke break at the end of the outdoor tables. Three steps and they would have been around the corner, discreetly out of view.

Yeah sure, if you've missed the ferry, and need somewhere to kill an hour or two, then by all means you should drop by. It is really convenient, there's plenty to eat and drink, and the service is brisk (I suppose they get that they literally have a lot of passing trade, or should that be waiting, trade). The drinks are as you would expect in a pub anywhere in HK. Beers on tap, plenty of decent enough wine, soft drinks if you've had a bit too much sun. However, I am a big fan of the food, and do come here just for that. It is regular Western pub fare; pizza, pies and mash, burgers, ribs, but it's nicely cooked and a good size portion. If you do miss your ferry and decide to stop for food, then I'd leave a couple for hours for ingestion and digestion. To be fair, I do think they also have a good and loyal following, both local and from "the main island". At the weekends, it is often packed all day, which to me indicates not just ferry trade. They have a big terrace (or is that just commandeering of the pavement), which is often full when the sun comes out, and a reasonable sized indoor area, which tends to be full of sun dodging Hong Kongers. I have noticed that a lot of the Lantau locals speak very fondly of this pub, and when I get sucked into a conversation with one, they would steer me there for lunch. It's as though they all have shares in the place. Last note the service in here is always very friendly and courteous, which is always nice if you've frustratingly just missed your ferry.

Add some big projectors showing the latest sports and there's little more I can ask for. I think the reason why I don't eat here often enough is because most of my family and friends prefer one of the other cuisines around DDeck, I can't blame them. However, whenever my vote counts for anything it's usually to here. When I don't know what to order I go for their burger and mozzarella sticks, in fact no matter what I go for something and their mozzarella sticks. The burgers are good, big filling and with a generous side of chips, the sticks fantastic. Generally, though, I'll order something from the Indian section, a madras chicken curry and some garlic naan. I'll try to convince some one else to order a plate of chicken tandoori so I can take a bit of that as well. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger stomach so that I could have the tandoori and the curry... and the naan. The food is full of flavor, the portions big, and the service relatively quick.I can tell you how good it is but I think the best way is to go for yourself and try it. It gets busy on the weekends because there's always one sport or another showing; football, rugby, motor sports, and the crowd can get a little rowdy, but don't let the outdoor hooligans intimidate you because inside it's normally much more tranquil. On a non-sports night its a great place to sit outside and enjoy a peaceful, quiet, group dinner. Remember... get the mozzarella sticks.
