What I like the most about Spices, is that they have gathered all of the best spicy dishes and put them all on one menu, and in one really nice location.
The menu is described as Asian fusion, and it covers all things curry and spicy from India, through Thailand, to China, and a few other places in between. It does mean the menu is large, in fact I sometimes find it rather overwhelming, "do I have the Indonesian massaman or the tandoori chicken tikka?", so be patient and have a good read. You will be astounded how far you can travel just in this menu alone.
Once you have your country picked (or several if your feeling "spicy"!), you will find the food very well prepared, extremely tasty, and fortunately, not so hot that it shreds your taste buds and ruins the possibility of tasting anything ever again.
The venue itself is great. Of course it should be, being in Repulse Bay after all. You have a choice of inside or outside. Be warned, inside gets booked up, especially at the weekends for lunch, so you may be relegated to the outside terrace, which is delightful, but can be hot mid summer. The staff are five star, gliding elegantly around the venue and speaking in nothing more than a whisper. The dress code is casual, but given the venue and the politeness of the staff, I would always go smart casual here. After all, no one wants to look like a hooligan now.
This is a great place to come, to enjoy that fierce heat both on the terrace and in the food, that only mad dogs and English men can stand. Get your linen suit on, start smashing into the Hendricks, and order the hottest thing on the menu - you know you want to. read more
