Just when I thought my visits to Silvercord were for the occasional quick bite, I've found myself here at least once a week for the past couple of months. I couldn't rank all the eateries throughout the Food Republic variety, but they're all solid and most dishes are somewhere in the 40-70HKD range. There are other restaurants at Silvercord, but in terms of variety and casual vibe, Food Republic is an easy choice. This is especially appealing during that awkward afternoon tea time when every other place is closed. There is a ton of seating and free WiFi thanks to the mall. It's also super kid friendly and . I haven't quite made the rounds yet beyond the Juzzbar, Bafang Yuqi and Shanghainese spots, but I fully intend on trying everything at some point. As you enter the flower market and walk past the colors, walk past the fruit and vegetable stalls then finally walk past the toilets, find yourself transported back in time to a hidden food market area that looks like something straight out of the 80s. Dingy food stalls placed haphazardly in a dimly lit open warehouse space, with small tables and stools littered around finding their place in any available space. I came too early so not all the stalls were open, but the ones that were were serving local hongkie breakfast foods: sandwiches and instant noodles. As I walk around, I settle on a small noodle shop with noodle ingredients on display and so I somehow point my way to a dish. The dish literally takes 30 seconds to cook, heat up the noodles in a simmering broth, quickly cook the satay beef strips and place the fried egg on top. Simple yet tasty. I still do today but not as much. Silvercord has 6 storeys of establishments but don't be fooled - 2 of those storeys are located underground; the basement and the lower ground floor. Silvercord also serves as a shortcut to Harbour City as it has an interconnecting interior bridge similar to Landmark. The majority of the basement floor consists of food republic, a decent food court that serves mostly Asian fare from Vietnamese to Japanese cuisine. In the middle of food republic, there are tea and smoothie kiosks. All the floors are equipped with restrooms as well as restrooms for the disabled. Contemporary fashion boutiques line the lower ground floor while the ground floor houses optical and jewelry shops. The first and second floor is a mix of different shops but my favorites are Pacific Coffee and Crumpler. The third floor has awesome dining options ranging from casual American Ruby Tuesday's to Taiwanese modern staple Din Tai Fung. A lot of expatriates I know have not been to Silvercord even though it's in such a prime location (Canton Road!). Compared to Harbour City, it can be seen as an afterthought but for me, Silvercord has its place. Whenever I'm in Tsim Sha Tsui, I make sure to drop by here because it is less crowded than Harbour City.

What I can't believe is how long Nathan Road goes all the way through Hong Kong and yes iSQUARE is one of them and was the closer access from our hotel. What honestly caught our eye are the many signs informing you of what's inside and it was Miniso. The cuteness overload was just so hard to resist and though there are many other biz, restaurants and even movie theater time and lack of energy has us being very selective and we did browse around a bit not really knowing the other shops that was there and getting around with some floors using the escalators while some was accessible by elevators was quite exhausting. If they had better directory so that we knew exactly where to browse we'd might've stayed longer but then again thankfully we didn't as this shopaholic had quite a full luggage. Thank you!

The mall has 7 floors, 5 above ground and 2 below. It is not like a regular, boring mall. It mixes shopping with cool stuff everywhere. The stores are perfect for younger people. We saw a lot of local streetwear, cool pop-up markets, and unique designer clothes. They even have a Pop Mart store inside, which we loved! The food areas are great for a casual meal, and the whole place feels very new, modern, and clean. We had a great time here and highly recommend it!

And then there was no Har Gow in the menu, one of the most essential in a dimsum restaurant... Price was also much more expensive than your typical dimsum places in Hong Kong, and then some outrageous charges like $12 for tea per person, when it's literally one teapot at a table... and adding an additional 10% if you want to take the dishes to go if you don't finish... The black and white sesame seeds on top added a nice toasted flavor too. They're quite rich, so two pieces were enough for a quick snack, but I completely understand why these are so popular. I had the stirred noodles with braised pork, but instead of bean paste I changed it to an actual noodle soup broth. The braised pork was braised quite well and the noodle was of decent quality for food court standards. It's not something I'd enjoy in a Northern Chinese restaurant, but in this kind of setting I'll take it for what it is. Look around the Silvercord food court and you'll see lots of food options covering several different cuisines. If you like your fast food Shanghai cuisine, by all means this is your place. Otherwise look around and you'll see something that suits you.
