The restaurant serves food that is very similar to Din Tai Fung, with dishes like; xiao long bao dumplings, cucumber with chilli, drunken chicken, home-made dan-dan noodles, rice with salted egg. However, the food is just that little bit better than Din Tai Fung. Yes, it is more expensive, but the combination of the ambience in the restaurant and the excellent food, make it worth the additional cost. The restaurant itself is spacious, and they have not tried to cram too many tables into the space. It is very tastefully decorated using plush fabrics and sturdy furniture, all with a traditional Chinese design. The staff are very courteous and efficient, gliding smartly between tables without screaming the house down, as is so common with Chinese restaurants. If you do fancy some very good Shanghainese food, I would thoroughly recommend that you come here. Make sure that you book a table though, as mentioned before, it can get very busy, and the opening hours are a little "traditional" in that the restaurant closes mid afternoon.

The sweet and sour sauce is well balanced and really compliments the fish. I like the lion's head here because it's flavorful and not as fatty compared to other ones. There's just the right amount of fat in the meatball to create a very soft and tender texture while not making it overly greasy. The sauce that it's braised is also delicious and hearty. The spicy beef in pungent sauce is a family favorite. It's served boiling hot and extremely spicy! It comes with a ton of beef and Mung bean sheets. All the flavors are strong but delicious and warming in the winter. I have to say that the fried prawns in salted egg yolk are also my favorite.
