(This review is also posted under the "Langham Place Mall" page)…read more One of the major factors that we have been staying at the Cordis Hotel every time we visit Hong Kong in the recent years is its convenient location. The hotel is connected to the Langham Place Mall on Level 4 via a shelter walkway across Shanghai Street. Langham Place is the largest shopping mall in Mong Kok. The 15-floor (+ 2 basement levels) mall with 180,000 sq ft of shopping space has over 200 shops and eateries, and direct access to the Mong Kok MTR in the basement level, making it very convenient to stay at the Cordis Hotel. I can't believe that the mall is already 21 years old. It still looks modern and funky. It has a 9-storey glass atrium that makes it look very airy with natural light during the day. There are many eateries and a food court on Level 4, plus many more restaurants and eateries dispersing throughout different levels of the mall. There is a long escalator going up from L4 to L8, and then another one from L8 to L12. There are also shorter escalators going up the floors after the long ones. The best strategy to browse the mall is to take either the escalators or elevators to the highest floor of the mall (supposed to be L15), and then work your way down by walking. It took me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do so. But it depends on whether you have something to shop for, or just browsing. I like to look at the cute things in the gift shops or toy stores. In my trip back in March, 2025, I purchased a Lulu the Pig disguised as Ne Zha. It was so cute and a great buy, it was on sale for HK$100 (US$13), down from HK$700 (US$90). However, the rest of the merchandises were at full price. We like the restaurants at the hotel, but have also tried different eateries in the mall. There are so many different cuisines to try. In our most recent trip in October, I noticed a big sign announcing that "Din Tai Fung is coming soon"! For a DTF fan like me, this is really great news. It is going to be close by Orchid Padaria Café (one of our favorite Cha Chaan Teng) on Level B2. I really look forward to dining in there when it opens! The Langham Place mall is an air-conditioned oasis in Mong Kok. It provides free WiFi, free parking, and long opening hours. It constantly attracts a lot of people. If you are not used to places with dense population, I suggest that you don't venture out there on Fridays, weekends, or any holidays, so that it would not be too overwhelming. Give it a try on a "slow" day first. Have fun!

You'd think they would all leave at the same time after coming back in an hour (which is what we did), but there was a set of different students right after! It's like those Matryoshka dolls that expose another doll after you take off a layer but in this case it was seeing more and more students everywhere you look at any different time. So be prepared for a war for an open seating. When we finally got our seats, we decided to dine in on one of the many different foods they had available. Hainan chicken rice with laksa. The chicken rice was good and typical. The laksa could have been better though since it was more oily and thicker than the usual ones I've had. It's honestly a better idea to venture out at the mall and find a sit down restaurant away from this place. Not only is it exhausting to find a seat, the food seems mediocre at its finest.

I absolutely loved being here in this vibrant food court that is just bustling with energy. I ordered a beautiful wok prepared omelette with rice and it came with grilled chicken skewers. Loved the soy and oyster sauces on top of my beautiful golden brown omelette that was crispy on the outside and fluffy, tender and light inside. The skewers were seasoned and grilled to perfection. This quality is supreme. My lovely neighbours recommended the Hainanese Chicken rice, the crispy pork and the gorgeous roasted goose. The prices are very reasonable. Love that this fun food court offers all - traditional Chinese. Thai, Japanese and Korean dishes. Lunch is packed. 12 to 1:45 pm daily is pretty slammed. Open every day from 11 to 10:30.

Food Republic has perfected the model of showcasing a broad spectrum of east Asian cuisine, making for fantastic variety and an ideal spot for the indecisive. Just when I thought my visits to Silvercord were for the occasional quick bite, I've found myself here at least once a week for the past couple of months. I couldn't rank all the eateries throughout the Food Republic variety, but they're all solid and most dishes are somewhere in the 40-70HKD range. There are other restaurants at Silvercord, but in terms of variety and casual vibe, Food Republic is an easy choice. This is especially appealing during that awkward afternoon tea time when every other place is closed. There is a ton of seating and free WiFi thanks to the mall. It's also super kid friendly and . I haven't quite made the rounds yet beyond the Juzzbar, Bafang Yuqi and Shanghainese spots, but I fully intend on trying everything at some point. Given its convenience, I can foresee many lunch meetings and random cravings satisfied here. Another bonus? Most places take credit card.

It's inside the mall where... it's kinda fun cuz they have a really long escalator that takes you up. But alas, this is in the food court so it's on one of the lower levels. Yes, the answer is bao. I definitely did. They have their bao characters of hot custard molten bun, steamed red bean and mochi, steamed cabbage and pork bun, BBQ pork, and green tea custard. I also went and got some pineapple dove bao as well. The pineapple was a bit hot and had chunks of pineapple. Was surprised at how good this was. Good pineapple taste, not overbearing. Also locked into a cage Went for the hot custard molten bun, which was definitely hot and so good. It's leaking custard and there was a lot of it in there. The green tea custard didn't really have much green tea taste in it - the custard was the flavor profile for the entire bread. The piggy bun was what you'd expect from it. They do charge for tea here but the tea quality is also good here as well. They do have other dim sum and dishes here, but since this was a second lunch, we didn't have the stomachs for it. It's adorable AND tasty, which surprised me as well.

I'm not usually a fan of custard. I'd love to go back with a group of people to be able to try more dishes. There's other super cute baos.

If I didn't feel like going out after a long day of being touristy/family, I would visit here. I generally went for the beef brisket wonton noodle soup. The broth was a little heavy on the 5-spice and I would've been fine with a cleaner broth. However, the noodles, brisket, and wontons were on-point. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and the wontons were delicate and filled with shrimp. The noodles were toothsome and weren't too soft. The set meals are a pretty good value as you can choose from a variety of entrees (noodles, rice porridge, etc.), a side dish/dessert (like vegetables, fried wontons, dessert soup), and a drink (hot soy, hot teas, etc.). I didn't go for the fried wontons but the fried fish balls were quite good. They were very hot but soft with a slightly crispy exterior. There wasn't a fishy taste to it, so it seemed more fresh. The choy sum was okay, though the broth it sat in was a seafood-based broth which wasn't really my style. Service was decent though like most places in HK, you have to flag down someone and don't expect someone to come to you. This spot was good (and clean) enough for me to not have to visit my former wonton spot, Mak Man Kee. I mean, Chee Kei was good enough where I didn't feel compelled to endure a cramp place with small portions and poor service. I just don't have to deal with that anymore.

Decided to get their wanton noodles, ice lemon tea and cold sea cucumber dessert while my friend had her congee/porridge. The wanton noodles were lacking of taste probably because I didn't add the condiments on the side. Generous serving of the wanton. The congee is a better option here. It has stronger chicken broth which makes you to crave for more bites after the first. The dessert was not as sweet as I would like it to be. Price wise was decent even though it is situated in a higher class shopping mall. They might provide voucher for next visits.
