I don't quite remember what I typed into the search bar on Yelp to have Pepper Lunch pop up. I was scrolling through looking for something to eat within the area and there it was. Pepper Lunch!
I immediately jumped up and said we had to eat there. Well, I suggested eating there and my cousin agreed because she loves food, like me, and had heard of Pepper Lunch and I told her that there was only one Pepper Lunch in the entire U.S. and it was in San Jose and that it was not that great, or so I've heard.
My sister, had her doubts...she hadn't heard of it and it was located in a food court. Clearly she knows nothing and should never doubt me, because she ended up loving it too. See her review for her thoughts...
Anyways, Pepper Lunch is located within the Langham mall food court, despite the fact that there were many choices for food, many of the tables had the iconic Pepper Lunch plate. Pepper Lunch originated in Japan, the founder wanted an easy and quick way to cook a delicious meal. It is basically, a hot skillet with ingredients piled on top, so the ingredients cook on top of the skillet.
The doubter (my sister) and I shared the #1, which was rice with, corn, beef, green onions and we added an extra egg. I don't quite remember how much we paid but it was less than $10 USD. I grabbed some garlic soy sauce just in case we wanted to mix it in, however the food was so flavorful on its own that it did not require the garlic soy sauce. We mixed everything so that the meat would cook evenly and the flavors would distribute evenly.
I would definitely eat here again, the location was great. It was pretty easy to find and had ample seating. The food was delicious! The doubter, our cousin and I enjoyed our meal. If you're visiting any of the countries that Pepper Lunch is in, I would definitely suggest trying it out, especially since there are supposedly only two locations in the entire North American continent. read more
