I don't know authentic (my experience is from Toronto and Montreal restaurants) but here it's gooooooooooooooooood and I love coming back. The cheapest on the Korean menu is K5: lunch meat, egg, some kimchi, and Korean red spicy sauce with rice. This is $42 and very delicious!! Filling for a lunch. Then there's K6: it's Korean salty fish roe (pollack roe), salmon roe, seaweed, mixed with rice. Comes with soup. It's so delicious!!!!!!!!!! OMG I never had pollack roe before to be honest. They give you all these eggs for about $55 (I forgot exactly the price). Bibimbap isn't that good, it's very bland. SERVICE IS WONDERFUL!!!!!! Very kind. You can order to sit-in or to-go. If you order to go, they pack it up extremely elegant for you. When I bring it back to the office, I look freaking rich. I'm not.

The Korito, for which it's famous, was first created in 2011 & packed as a school lunch for the owners 6 year old daughter. K-Roll now offer a great range of rolls including chicken, beef, shrimp & tofu, each featuring a selection of sauces to tailor each roll to your taste. I can't rave about this place enough & now with multiple locations throughout Hong Kong, K-Roll makes for a super convenient option for lunch on the run. I'm hungry just thinking about it!

You are dealing with not just Office ladies in high heels but handsome guys in suits. Like for real. Thus, it has been getting pretty common to have take away shops around Central just to cater the needs for those who just want to fill their stomach real quick instead of waiting in lines in scorching heat. K-Roll is one of the examples. It has one in Sheung Wan but I was pretty glad to hear that now they have one more branch in Central at the Central station. Honestly I am such a noob when it comes to Korean food, I always thought that Korean food is either kimchi or Korean Barbeque. That's it. Turns out there's much more. Over here you can order bite-sized kimbap rolls (basically a sushi roll without the raw fish), Korean burritos. They look a lot like Japanese rolls at first glance but the ingredients are mainly cooked like rice, tempura shrimp, fried dumpling skin, veggies, etc. They certainly bring out the Korean flavor with the special Korean sauce as well. To me, this place not only offers delicious food but all the food are very colourful and pleasing to the eyes. I understand that it is also very packed during lunch hour but guess what? At least you are waiting for your orders at a place with air conditioning.

The only reason 4? Well... 5 is ONLY for "as good as it gets" something that is the best in it's league. Apparently this place is one of the only ones that do this style of cooking. Not to say they haven't earned the 5 stars. It's still dang amazing. The setup: You come in and select your seafood. In all HK style seafood restaurant cases, it's got tanks full of live, fresh, delicious seafood. They've also got a sauce bar where you can make your own sauce using soy sauce, hot oils, anything you could want. After selecting the poor organisms that will be subject to your stomach, they bring them out in various shifts and steam them in the table's central steamer. Before they start that though, they put some rice in the bottom so the juices from all of your seafood drips down. At the end of the meal, you have seafood flavored congee. HOLY CRAP IS IT GOOD. The Food: The seafood is fresh and amazing. We got a lobster, razor clams, chicken, pork, shrimp, and I honestly can't remember off the top of my head. It was all super fresh and super tasty. They set timers for each thing they put into the steamer so everything is cooked perfectly. They do bring things out once at a time so you don't have cross contamination which is nice. The only down side to this place is, as far as I could tell, they dont' speak English. As a "useless chinese person" (self proclaimed title due to not speaking Chinese) I struggled to comprehend anything. Thankfully, the cousin in laws were my translators.

Tucked away in the streets of TST (roughly a 10 minute walk from the MTR), Steam Seafood Hotpot…read moreRestaurant was my first try on the fairly new hotpot style that's currently a craze in HK. Essentially, all of the raw dishes are taken to the pot for "steaming". Most of the options that are given are fresh seafood.. so if you are a fan of fish/shellfishes, you would love this type of restaurant. Similar to traditional hotpot spots, you create your own sauce on the side. In the end, all the natural taste/juice of each unique dish is drip down to below the pot, where there's a congee (now infused with the flavours of the seafood) for your final course. Again, with this being my first time trying this type of restaurant in HK, it definitely did not disappoint! Pros: Great service. There was essentially a waitress serving two-three tables at once. As each time they insert a new dish in (whether that's fish, crab, vegetables, lobsters, etc), they have a specific timer for each type of food as they all require a unique time for preparation. Once each dish is done, the server would divide the course equally to each individual on the table. Fresh food. All the seafood is as fresh as can be (as they should be). Some of the food were pre-marinated (such as the lobster), and others were steam as it is (the shrimp balls). Sets to order from that is recommended for a party depending on the number of people. This way, you are not over ordering or under ordering. You can always add on more food if you are still hungry in the end. Cons: A little far from the MTR, which isn't a big deal but since it was raining heavily on the day that I went, it probably seemed longer than it actually was. Tough to locate. Its tucked away on a street that's virtually a dead end. Being a visitor from abroad, it took a while to locate this place. Although I'm sure locals would be able to find it swiftly and with ease. Tips: Go during lunch as you can get the same exact set of food for 3/4 of the price and also you don't need to pay for the 10% service fee at lunch time. They do take reservations so call ahead just in case especially for dinner since I would imagine it being much busier.

Living in Asia it's difficult to not try the cuisines of your continent so I've tried Korean here and there but have never been totally impressed. One day in Discovery Bay while I'm trying to ignore the barks and cries I walk towards Ebenezer's. I can't remember why but at the time it was closed, probably renovations or something. I remember being upset because I was looking forward to a kebab, spicy. Next door First Korean had recently opened and was offering a very affordable lunch set and knowing that anywhere else on Disco-Bay I had to shell out over $100 for lunch. I ignored the voice in the back of my head warning me against trying Korean again. I can't tell you how many times I've been back for the same $65 Stone Pot Rice dish, enough for the waiters to know my order before I sit down. When I'm not sure what to eat - Stone Pot Rice, too lazy to cook - Stone Pot Rice, Hmmm should I try something else? No - Stone Pot Rice. That's a lie. I've tried a couple other dishes and they weren't bad; Sweet and sour chicken with rice, and sizzling beef and enoki mushrooms with rice. The chicken dish would be great save for the bones in each and every little morsel making it more of a mission than an enjoying experience. The sizzling beef is good, no complaints on this dish. But when compared to the Stone Pot Rice, it's crispy rice and tradition Korean sauce there's simply no question. Even listening to the same ten songs on repeat for the past three months hasn't stopped me from returning - in fact I think it's helping me learn to speak Korean.

It's a surprisingly large and open wooden space, which is refreshing after bumping knees and getting breathed on by strangers all day, every day. Your first step inside is greeted with TV screens playing Kpop and the smell of sizzle and sauce; it's a Korean fried haven. Goobne specializes in, you guessed it, Korean fried chicken, but with a heavy infusion of Western bar food. They've got salads, pastas, Asian style rice rolls, and a variety of fancy margaritas (one with a shark). Mostly though, you're here for the chicken. On my initial visit, my friend and I shared: Appletiser: Some foreign apple sparkly with a punny name. It's what you expect. Fizzy apple juice in a bottle. Overpriced because of its foreignness and because it's in a bottle. Caesar Salad: This is not a Caesar salad. Caesar sauce (in a cup on the side, no less) with some veggies, croutons, and parmesan does not a Caesar make. Who adds frisee to a Caesar? Or red cabbage? OR TOMATOES AND CUCUMBERS? It's fine for a salad. Just know that you are not ordering a Caesar when you order this Caesar. Rice Crunch Chicken Boneless: Yes, this is where it's at! A well-portioned amount of crispy boneless chicken covered in sweet and spicy sauce, carried out in a cast iron pan. To make it better, tiny rice bits cover the chicken for extra crunch. To make it EVEN better, pieces of sauce-soaked Korean rice cakes are mixed in. SO. GOOD. Strawberry Milk Snow: I don't know what I was expecting for this. Something more like shaved ice? Nope. Milk snow is exactly what it is: creamy crystals that melted on impact. It was incredibly unique and the right amount of sweet with the ice cream and strawberries mixed in. 10/10, will choke on ice particles again. Goobne Chicken is goodne chicken. There, I said it. Though my puns are bad, Goobne isn't. And with this being one of several locations in HK, you can always get your fried chicken on. Whether you're in the mood to hang out, or to grab a sharkarita, or just to get some good grub, Goobne is one great choice in the city with way too many food choices. (52/100) - 100
