The infamous Tai Wai fishball stall. Open till late, serving hundreds of fishball-loving patrons…read moreevery single day. The service is always endearingly rude, hollering at you to hurry your ass up and tell them what you want. And honestly, no wonder - there are always at least ten people just waiting to get served here. Actually, there's two lines - one line for people who want fishballs, and another line for people who want anything else. Anything else includes the stuffed vegetables, like red peppers and eggplant etc., although I've heard you can get a imitation shark fin soup too. As you might've guessed, I stick to the fishballs. The fishballs themselves are, admittedly, not the bounciest or biggest of balls, but they're a good 'vessel' for that amazing sauce. I've tried many a time to recreate this, and I think it comes down the ginger bits, chilis, and long stewing hours. It can get super spicy sometimes, to the point that eating these fishballs almost seems like an effort or test of brute strength. But, generally, I'm all to happy to nom nom nom. Of course you can opt for the not-spicy balls, but then you might get called a wuss by the shopkeepers. ...Kidding, they're not THAT rude. But I'd recommend the spicy sauce. Pro tip: If you want your balls in a cup instead of on the stick, you need to order three sticks worth, and definitely throw in some turnips if you do so you don't waste any of that precious sauce. There is nothing better - the combo is SO good.

Their desserts are as traditional Chinese as it gets. I couldn't resist their black sesame soup…read moreafter I saw someone else eating it. It's one of the best ones I've had in Hong Kong. The consistency is awesomely thick and the degree of sweetness is perfect. In addition to having awesome desserts, I loved that they described the different health benefits of all of their ingredients. It was all in Chinese so I couldn't read all of it, but I still think it was very educational.

I decided to give this place a try after a friend recommended it because I was in the area. I had a…read morecouple of their signature things: leek and pork fried bun, black sesame and peanut mochi, and two varieties of steamed buns: mushroom and pork and veggie and pork. The leet and pork fried bun lives up to the hype and more. It's always fresh because they go through them so quickly. The outside is crispy, and the inside and steaming hot and gooey. When I first bit into it, I was a little bit disappointed because it was very doughy, but as I kept on eating, I realized I just must have started on one side that doesn't have as much filling. The filling is tasty and fresh. The black sesame and peanut mochis are HUGE, much bigger than normal ones. There's a lot of the filling inside, but I thought there was too much sugar so it made the whole mochi too sweet. Plus, it's a really large portion that you're eating. The dough is really soft and gooey though. I haven't had the steamed buns yet, so I will update that portion when I get to them.

My friend and I only actually went here because the restaurant we had planned to go to was shut! We…read morewere starving and didn't want to walk far so we popped up here. Everything is in Chinese, so luckily my friend is a Hong Konger and was able to help me order. I ordered from the stall on the far right corner diagonal to where you walk in and got some pork dish with cabbage and vege rice and my friend ordered from a different stall (last one directly to the right of when you walk in) and ordered some rice with tomato/egg and salt and pepper pork. While my dish was served piping hot and the sauce on the pork was just the right amount of sweet, my friends dish was luke warm, dry and a bit stringy. I was very pleased with my meal but my friend wasn't, so I think it will be a mixed bag. If you don't speak or read Chinese you will find it very difficult to order anything. The atmosphere was quite canteen-y and not the cleanest but it filled a whole, I paid less than $50 and I didn't get sick.

You come here for exactly one thing: the grape dessert ice ("Purple In Love")…read more It won some sort of Gold Award back in 2009, and even if you're not a huge fan of grape, holy crap it's an intense, amazing burst of flavor, bite after bite. Hell, if they sold only one thing here-- or even three things-- this would almost be enough to earn them five stars. Sadly, they serve a lot more things here, and while quite a few are pretty good, none come anywhere close to the Purple In Love. The Ujikintoki is a fine dessert, but it's almost disappointing after the Purple In Love, and the same goes for the shaved ice-- good, but I can get good shaved ice lots of other places. The other thing that kills me? No wifi, and no bathrooms (at least not the few times I've been). Minor things, really, but for a trendy, modern dessert place...

But they didn't have tapioca the night I went which was kinda disappointing for my bf because that was something he was looking forward to. So, I ordered a strawberry pudding and he had a tofu thing with red bean and red date I believe. Not exactly sure what it was but there was a picture of it on the menu that look pretty good. Another thing about this place was their washroom at the time was out of service which made it pretty not convenient for us. We had to go somewhere else at around 10ish at night to find a washroom. The dessert itself was kinda meh here. Nothing too special about it and the price was kinda meh too. Not my favourite place to have dessert in hong kong but it was doable that night.

I always order their mango series because it's always yummy and not overly sweet. You can taste that it is made with mangoes! Good thing that I like to order in this restaurant is tofu, sweet dessert. It's usually very very smooth and again not overly sweet. This place can't really go wrong if you wanted to have some nice dessert. The service is really quick. The waiters would come to you immediately and ask you for your order. Usually people come and know what they want to get. The place itself is quite small, so there isn't a lot of seatings people come and go quickly I would have given it five star if the seats are more comfortable But it is kind of crowded and a bit rush. I knocked down star. But if you're here, just for the food and don't care for the environment and ambience, this is a place to go !

It was quit busy as everyone in Hong Kong love late night snacks or desserts. As usual, people go in eat, pay and leave. Don't expect too much of a service from employees.
