Stir fried river shrimps, sweet and sour fish, pan fried pork Bun, Xiao Loong Bao, Zhejiang Pork, Chinese Cabbage with smoked Chinese ham, just to name a few. All perfectly done. Can't remember an occasion with a fault from the kitchen. Excellent value for money.

Congee makes me real hot in the summer. My favorites are 免戰牛肉粥 & 豬紅粥. The seating is on the foldout tables and little stools so if you are large person it might be tough. But it is typical of restaurants like this in Hong Kong so if you want a local experience, it is what it is. Between the three or four places that I go for congee, this is the best. But because of the seating and the lack of milk tea, I don't go there more than once every two weeks.

Don't want to wait 30 to 40 minutes for a HK style sandwich and tea/coffee (done right by the way)? Well then Wai Kee is your answer! Carby Comfort Goodness! Plain congee - Many will argue that plain congee is only for sick people to eat, but in reality is one of the very few ways you can actually taste the texture. Particularly if it is cooked with some dried scallops (conpoy) which you can taste. While the jook here isn't the same as Mui Kee in Mongkok, it hits the spot. Congee with other condiments may be MSG enhanced (Law Fu Kee is definitely a prime example, despite it being more famous). The fried carby stuff here (fried dough sticks) are pretty solid. But why not get the cheung fun skin wrapped around it (ja leung)? I think I enjoyed it a tad more than Tasty at the airport. And their house made turnip pudding/cake? Very respectable rendition, although it's less hearty than those Chinese New Year versions. The steamed version is the way to go here, if you prefer that classic daikon/turnip flavor. A little soy sauce is already enough. All three of these items will fill you up nicely. Not gourmet by any means, but very comforting and fulfilling. You may not look like royalty afterwards, but you will feel quite at home.

When I came in at 1:30 pm the place was about half full, and I ordered a latte and sat down. Like a typical café, you have your fellow patrons sitting down with their Macs, and I felt right at home. This is the kind of café I could see myself going back to over and over. There was also what looks like a flower shop located right inside the café, with staff arranging flowers and customers picking it up. Sounds like a good double use of the space, with something visual to go along with the coffee! The tiled floors are also worth admiring if you're not too busy staring at your computer.

But I guess you can share ONE bite among four people. I had the mango cake topped with three balls of mango. Inside, there is mango too! My girlfriend ordered a chocolate cake! I didn't try it but it looked really, really good! Aside from cakes, they have sandwiches and the like. So it's easy to have a "take away" here. I'd even consider to do a private party event here like a small baby shower or an intimate bridal shower! Internet access with purchase for ONE hour. Get the code from the barista. There's also a small florist counter to the right once you enter. I saw some people working on their laptops so I'd say this is a good place to do some work. I'd be weary staying for more than 2 hours without buying another cup of coffee. Prices for coffee are comparable to Pacific Cofee: I think it was 35HKD for a Latte and 37HKD for my small little yummy mango cake. Three tables outside for outdoor seating. See you again Agnes!

In fact I've passed this street by many many times in my travels to Hong Kong and never came across this place before. Thanks to our local contacts we were introduced to it though and it's amazing. The place is bustling with locals and they barely speak English. If you don't speak the language, then it's the old point and sign type of ordering experience. Thankfully we were with people who do speak the language though. When you come in, you will be seated at rickety wooden tables and on plastic chairs. They will bring disposable plastic table cloths, and also bring cups, spoons, glasses for tea and beer, chopsticks, and a pitcher of hot tea all in a plastic bucket. The locals use the hot tea to sanitize the cups, spoons, chopsticks, and every other thing you eat and drink with so we followed suit. I have to say I was apprehensive coming into this place because of this first impression, so I was readying myself for food poisoning, being used to western restaurants majority of the time. But I've traveled far and wide enough to know some of the best food I've ever had has come from the most "fishy" and peculiar places I've been to. And this place is fishy alright!... They have everything from pig intestines and pork legs to meat and chicken but the seafood here is their specialty (hence fishy). But I really don't know what that means cuz EVERYTHING I ate seemed like a specialty to me. It was some of the most delicious and tasty food I've ever had in Hong Kong. I'm definitely coming back here every time I visit Hong Kong. I refuse to go to McDonald's (or Ruth's Chris for that matter) when I travel around when there's new food and culture to be experienced... Well I refuse to eat McDonald's period but you get what I mean.

Many may say beef brisket noodle bowl is such a everyday dish in Hong Kong. I don't usually hold any particular expectation when I go to a noodle joint for a quick meal or late night snack. It's the quality of the beef brisket that differs Yuen Kee from the rest. The beef brisket, tripe and tendon here is a must have! It's best with home made some spicy chili sauce. Besides noodles, they also serve decent HK style roast duck and BBQ pork. However, their set lunch is just average. The ambiance is clean and friendly. The booth and tables are just like most HK style cafe. There is a basement, but I prefer the ground floor as the cell phone reception is not very good down there. They used to accept Octopus, it was one of the up side for lunch rush. For some reasons, they have taken the machine out recently. The location is great, right in the hub of TST. It's right across from The One and the Mira Hotel It's close to the TST MTR station. If you drive there at night, you can basically park on the street and walk inside for a quick late night noodle run. This place is 15 min walk from my office. I could think less about the walk if I really crave for their beef brisket. It's just that good!

Tsui Wah was first established in 1967 and has long been Hong Kong's iconic "café" or "Cha Chang…read moreTeng". Back even just two or three decades ago, Tsui Wah was a destination in itself when you visit Hong Kong, where you'll experience its famous "pantyhose" milk tea (made from tea filtered through a panty hose, seriously, so it's perfectly smooth!) and its various café dishes. Fast forward to today, Tsui Wah has grown to several dozen locations and in a way, has lost some of its magic. There is no longer THE Tsui Wah that you absolutely have to go to. They are now in almost every major areas or districts so wherever you go, you'll almost always find one. Moreover, as with any chains, once you expand to too many locations, it will be difficult to keep the quality consistently top-notch across the board. This particular Tsui Wah is a newer location (no reviews yet) which is across the pedestrian flyover from Regal Hotel and Din Tai Fung in the heart of Causeway Bay. It is large and spacious and has a contemporary design. There are plenty of tables, small booths for two, as well as communal tables for single diners. Their "pantyhose milk tea" was still rich and smooth and as good as it always has been. However, the fish ball and rice noodle soup was mediocre at best. I think the quality of their fish balls has gone downhill through the years. However, the baked pork chop rice was still the best ever, and I still cannot find any place in the US that is even close to it (I haven't found it, but if you have please let me know where!) The fried rice base was not overly oily and had a rich aroma and flavor of eggs. The rice was topped with slices of tender pork chops, delicious tomato sauce, cheese, and baked to perfection. But what really made the difference were the thick and generous slices of fresh tomatoes that made the sauce (and the dish itself) taste naturally flavorful, and help Tsui Wah maintain the magic on some of their traditional Hong Kong favorites. Tsui Wah remains the go-to place for locals who want quick but delicious meals from breakfast through late night snack, as well as tourists who wish to savour the truly authentic local "Cha Chang Teng" experience.
