I decided to give this place a try after a friend recommended it because I was in the area. I had a couple of their signature things: leek and pork fried bun, black sesame and peanut mochi, and two varieties of steamed buns: mushroom and pork and veggie and pork.
The leet and pork fried bun lives up to the hype and more. It's always fresh because they go through them so quickly. The outside is crispy, and the inside and steaming hot and gooey. When I first bit into it, I was a little bit disappointed because it was very doughy, but as I kept on eating, I realized I just must have started on one side that doesn't have as much filling. The filling is tasty and fresh.
The black sesame and peanut mochis are HUGE, much bigger than normal ones. There's a lot of the filling inside, but I thought there was too much sugar so it made the whole mochi too sweet. Plus, it's a really large portion that you're eating. The dough is really soft and gooey though.
I haven't had the steamed buns yet, so I will update that portion when I get to them. read more
