I thought the hot pot scene in the CA was good, but Drunken Pot in Hong Kong is a game changer. Broths had incredible depth (the numbingly spicy Sichuan broth is indeed numbing), presentations were visually stunning, and dishes delicately balanced innovation with bold flavors.
We ordered:
Signature Drunken Pot - includes 5 broths: Papaya & Shrimp, Clams & Crab, Sichuan-style Numbingly Spicy, Taochew-style Satay, and Squid Ink Seafood. They also give you a serious array of sauces and add-ons (see pics), but you don't need it since every broth packed a punch to the taste buds. My favorites were the Satay and Clams & Crab. The Spicy was delicious, but even little sips were too spicy for me. The Papaya & Shrimp was the mildest - making it perfect for kids or the less adventurous.
Hand-cut Beef - presentation was incredible! Beef slices were thickly cut and took to each broth very well.
Assorted Fortune Bags, 7 Color Cuttlefish Balls, and 6 Color Soup Dumplings - as with the other items, each were beautiful and tasty (though not to the same level as the broths).
I would definitely recommend getting the Drunken Pot, the Beef, and adding some udon. The noodles soak up the flavors perfectly. read more
