This is a relatively new place in town, and I loved the sheer variety of food it offers - as its name suggests, it features menu items from both the land and sea. There are so many featured dishes on the menu that it's hard to try them all in one go, and I am definitely coming back to try more. I went with a group of 5, and still felt like there were a ton of dishes we wanted to try but were too full, so would definitely recommend coming here with a big group.
The main stars of our meal were the spicy whole fish and Peking duck. I loved the spicy whole fish - you can choose the type of spice, as well as add on a variety of optional ingredients (e.g. Vegetables, tofu) to add to the fish as a sort of side, cooking in the flavorful sauce that comes with it. The fish comes in a huge metal tray with a fire lit under, so it is kept constantly steaming, and is so flavorful and juicy. The Peking duck was also solid. Besides those main dishes, we also ordered a variety of smaller dishes like skewers, vegetables to round out the meal.
The place overall felt super hip, with a ton of young people, and I would recommend making a reservation to avoid the long long wait that seems to inevitably come with restaurants HKers collectively decide are trendy. I felt like this restaurant really lived up to its promise implied by its name of Farmer & Fish, serving up variety without sacrificing quality and being confusing. read more
