The crowds are still very present and seating is hard to come by without any wait, especially during dinner hours regardless of being a weekday or weekend. However, their previous system of securing a table by reservation online via an app has long been gone. The only way to reserve a table is to wait in line in person and they won't seat you until the entire party is present. The service is still great and quite attentive. The menu extensively includes a variety of dumplings, including those pan-fried, steamed, or soup dumplings. They also offer amazing noodles, noodle soups, fried rice, hot and cold appetizers, vegetable dishes, and a nice handful of desserts. The flavor is also on point for all the options I've ordered and not one dish to disappoint. My group and I always found a favorite item such as the pork chop fried rice, spicy chili oil dumplings, crab roe soup dumplings, jellied ham, and more. It's really an endless list of must-gets because there's hardly anything on the menu we would refuse. Overall a group favorite because of all the options on the menu plus legendary handcrafted soup dumplings that has thin enough skin to hold all the soup without the leak and juicy meat. My friend, who happened to visit DTF a few days ago, concurred with my verdict. The skin over here is thinner, the meat filling not as clumpy and juicier. By itself, DTF's dumpling is very good, after all, it's an international chain known for their soup dumplings. But side by side, Ye Shanghai has a better XLB, at least by Hong Kong standard, which always prizes a thin wrapper. We ordered a variety of other dishes, from wine chicken to shanghai noodles, and they are all quite delicious, and compare favorably to the same dish I've tried elsewhere. The only downside is, as you can imagine from its location, that this place is pricier. The pork belly wrapped with fragrant leaves is melt-in-your-mouth succulent, but not cheap at HKD30 (about US$4) for piece slightly over 1" cube in size.
