Heart stopping, both figuratively and literally. Decadent, heavy, rich, low grade cheese! Covering some charcoal-barbecued slices of pork neck, and mixed with the other most popular unhealthy food on the planet - instant noodles, how could one resist? If that isn't enough for your arteries, go on and order the honey glazed bbq squid; it's sweet, it's sticky, it'll leave a smile on your now frozen-by-heart-burn face. Sun Kee is one of the four legendary ghetto Hong Kong noodle shops (the other one is actually right downstairs - a less sinful tomato noodle shop). It's no longer cheap after it gained fame, and portions have shrunk. But seriously, more would become too much of a good thing, unless you can unflinchingly eat an entire block of cheese. Then I would applaud you sir, from my seat, because the blood no longer goes to my head when I stand up quickly.

You may already know that the popular dish here is the cheese sauce pork neck noodles. As a tourist who hasn't tried something like this before in my life (yes, from where I come from, cheese sauce like this usually happen in a melting pot for fondue or maybe the closet is perhaps pasta carbonara), it's a novelty. But for HKD44 a bowl, and a pretty small bowl, it's kinda expensive compared to what you may get for the same portion at other cha chan tengs. The cheese is thick and creamy so it's not something that I can personally stomach after about half the portion. So the tomato sauce noodles really came in handy cos the acidity helps to reduce a little of the thick sauce. The star to me, is not really the sauce. It's the freaking pork neck. It's really tender and soft. While the overall serving is small, the amount of pork is still decent. Enjoyed the protein thoroughly. It's a little hard to find cod you have to go INTO the building to locate it. But hunters like us, will not give up. So dive into the maze-like streets of Hong Kong and enjoy a bowl of cheese sauce pork neck noodles!

Noodles , cheese sauce, tender roasted pork. And a coke.

We met friends for dinner and actually went to the wrong restaurant, for there is another Star of Canton just up the street at I Square too and we went there by accident. This restaurant has an expansive and striking view of the harbor, high ceilings, big glassy chandeliers and is very spacious. There is a stage and so much room that it seems like the appropriate spot to have a banquet or wedding. It is one of those large Chinese restaurants that serves a lot of people and thus the soft goods (carpet, chairs, linens, etc) seem warn and need updating. Although I did not do the ordering and did not pay the bill, in addition to special orders of hairy crabs at an additional cost, we had a set dinner with like 7 courses for around $400HKD (which seemed like a great value, knowing all the delicious food we had). The set included their highlighted dish of Braised Whole Japanese Oma Abalone, in addition to marinated sea cucumbers, shrimp, sticky rice, a great soup with bean curd on top and although small and at the very end, a seasame rice ball that was really spectacular & a party in your mouth. Found in 1998, Star of Canton insists the tradition of the canton dishes with less oil, less salt, no MSG and no artificial colour. I like that and it is a niche in a sea of Chinese restaurant options. We had a good experience and liked the ambiance of the place, so we would reccomend and absolutely go back.

The dishes I must order here are their cheesy lobster with longevity noodles and their pepper salt pissing shrimp. Oh so good. My mouth is watering now just writing about it! And that night I went they also had razor clams as well! Yum! Service was great. The people were really friendly. The restaurant was busy on a weeknight as well. It's easy to find, near Jordan station located inside a plaza. Just take the elevator 7/F I think? and it'll take you straight there. Most of all their prices are very reasonable! You can't get this quality and taste for this price anywhere else; that's why I keep coming back. Writing this review makes me happy because I can relive this meal. :-)

We did not know it was a 2 star Michelin restaurant, and I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning, because we did not want to spend too much money on food on this trip. Upon our request, we were seated right in front of the Harbour view and were able to see the light show that start around 8pm. The most beautiful view of HK at night! We opted not to order the duck, which needs to be ordered 24 hour in advance and although I am sure quite delicious is quite pricy (HK$1,438+10%). Reservation in this place is a must! Highlights were the Wok-fried Wagyu with Green Peppers, Mushrooms and Garlic, Wok-seared Chicken Fillet with Lemon Sauce The server was so kind as to give us half servings so we could "sample" some of the more expensive items, add fried rice for substitution with the meat dishes and free desert. This flexibility in providing half portion and substitution is something i've rarely experience in a Michelin restaurant. Overall, we payed $US240 (1,900 Hong Kong Dollar) which includes the 10% service charge for two people for a michelin 2 star restaurant for an unforgettable meal! If I return to HK, I will definitely come back and try their dim sum.
