Recommended to me by a ton of people for its HK French toast and it lived up to the hype. The place is located on the second floor of the Sheung Wan municipal services building, so you have to do some searching for it. The ambiance of the place screams Asian ghetto, except this was more ghetto than the most Asian of ghettos. Think folding tables sprawled everywhere, with many dirty plastic stools. The best kind of place to go to for good HK food. The French toast was crispy, warm and soft on the inside, and had delicious condensed milk on top. Best I've ever had. I had the bottled milk tea as well. Not bad. I've had better, but when the French toast is that good, you don't really care about anything else

OMG OMG OMG My husband found this cafe on Yelp, raved about it, and then took me there on our last visit to Hong Kong. So friggen good! What makes it even more enticing is it's located on the top floor of Sheung Wan Market, on an air conditioned floor. I loved the french toast here. As other reviewers mentioned, they use condensed milk as the sauce and it is dee-licious. If you want to go the savoury route, the beef noodles are the most expensive thing on the menu but totally worth it! A decent sized bowl with heaps of noodles, beef, and a fried egg on top. Can't get any better than that. Wash it all down with a bottle of cold milk tea and you have successfully gone through a quintessential HK experience.

    Heavenly French Toast!

Located on 2nd floor of the Sheung Wan municipal building is a gem of a coffee shop. Forget the ambience -- nothing to see (looks like a Singapore Hawker stall with air on), but that French Toast, though, made me want to cry, it was sooo good! It that had this lethal combination of egg, butter and a tinge, what can only described, as a HK flavour. Yes you heard right, it's an Asian French toast. Maybe a bit of exaggeration, but it's not to be missed. This dish is best complimented by the shops famous milk tea in a old school glass soda bottle. I didn't try it, but my neighbor had the Pork, Egg, Sausage, Ham noodles. I'm definitely going back to this shop, just for that! Wow, what a find! Thank you Yelp!

Breakfast sandwich and milk tea. Really good.

This place is a little hard to find, it's deep on the second floor of the building. However, it's worth searching for. I only had the appetite and time to try the breakfast sandwich, but now I wish I tried more! The sandwich was the best I had in HK and you probably can't find one for cheaper. The milk tea in the bottle is a charming touch as well!

This review is about a month delayed but WHATEVER they are all about the Rice Bowl life in HK anyway...but for those loyal Yelpers, here is my review of what might have been one of my favorite stops when I was in HK. This food stop is in a municipal building on the second floor, so when you get to the building, go up the escalator and take a right and it will be there in the corner. You'll know you're there when you see people drinking milk tea out of glass bottles and straws. No one who works on the second floor speaks English (at least when we were there) so it's good to show pics of the food or at least screen shots. There's free Wi-Fi so looking up pics shouldn't be an issue. Here's a run down of the food we ordered: -condensed milk toast (i.e. French toast drizzled in condensed milk instead of syrup). pretty good and actually not too sweet. It's best eaten hot. -spam breakfast noodle soup. This was essentially ramen noodles in a beef broth with spam and a fried egg. very flavorful. -egg sandwich (my personal fav) which was bbq pork and scallions scrambled in an egg served on a hoagie bun -milk tea, crazy sweet but my favorite version while in HK. I'm sure there are a lot better places we may have missed during our visit, but compared to many of the places we did try, this was one of the tastier ones.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars. I really did, but I can't. I came here this morning with my friend for some breakfast before work. We went into the cooked food center and this shop was in the corner. We sat down and asked for an English menu- maybe that was the problem. Anyways, we asked for the server to take our order and he took forever. I guess you can't get too upset because he seemed to be the only one working there. It's okay, I understand. HOWEVER, he made meals for two people WHO CAME AFTER US AND ORDERED AFTER US before he finally got to us. My friend said it was because we asked for an English menu... anyways, I was late to work. Thanks. We ordered ham and eggs, French toast, and two milk teas. The food was pretty not bad. The milk tea tasted normal and the game and eggs tasted normal as well. I think that this place is known for their toast. It was good, but no peanut butter! I'd give the food 3 stars. I really wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are a local (or enjoy being ignored). I really don't appreciate being treated this way and it is unacceptable. Although the food was fine, I will be taking my business elsewhere. (Capital cafe has really good breakfast!)

French toast and milk tea were perfect combo. Although I did wish that there was less condensed milk on it.

Their popularity was at an all-time high just before the pandemic and has remained one of Sai Wan's most frequent local eateries. To no one's surprise, the seating and layout are not group friendly and it can be very cramped. Sharing tables is a big possibility, and I'd come here with no more than 3-4 folks. Waiting is a common past time here, so try to aim for a pre-noon arrival. Their stuffed toasts are legendary and are indeed the real deal. The salted egg yolk toast is fun to eat and film, but the taro custard (香芋流沙西多士) is next level good. The lava that flows from within makes this the ultimate dessert item, and should be on everyone's table. Their XO stir fried radish cubes (XO醬炒蘿蔔糕), along with the XO fried rice rolls (XO醬炒腸粉) are two of my favorite items. The dim sum items are fairly standard (especially the shrimp dumplings), but the shrimp stuffed rice rolls are very good. The shrimp toast is not my usual kind of order, but this place definitely specializes in it. The service is warm and very quick with everything: taking orders, bringing food, and getting the check. Prices are not back breaking but it's a little more expensive than other comparable places. Cash is king.

The owners aren't outright friendly, but are certainly warmer than your average cha chaan teng waiter in Hong Kong. The sesame shrimp toast is more delicious than it has any right to be - crisp exterior studded with toasted white sesame, these triangles give way to plump shrimp meat in the middle, and a cute little dish of Kewpie mayonnaise on the side. The signature egg yolk is fun to cut into - giving you some real insta-worthy yolk porn, but is definitely heavy, so consider sharing. But for me, what won my heart was a delicious take on a childhood favorite - radish cakes: Chau Kee's versions are cut up and fried, so that the crisp fry-exterior gives way to a tacky and soft interior. Flavors of shrimp and seafood are present from the XO sauce. The menu is in both Chinese and English and full of pictures, so it's also gweilo-friendly!

I'm down if it's good food! Located in a residential area, I wasn't really expecting too much honestly. But I heard good word about it so why not give it a shot? Wow, for a neighborhood restaurant, this place was bomb! I had some dishes where I never had elsewhere before! We started with the fried pomfret salad. I love the fried fish, juicy, tender and mildly sweet. I wasn't a fan of the salad dressing though. It was like the thousand island from a bottle from the grocery aisle. I wish they make a good dressing. My favorite plate-licking dish was the shrimp angel hair with pumpkin sauce. Pumpkin sauce!? Large, succulent and crunchy shrimp with fresh shredded veggies mixed in sweet and buttery pumpkin sauce. How can you not like that? The flavors were really good and I was going bite after bite until I finished it without even knowing! My second fav was the crispy chicken with apricots and honey mustard sauce served on on a plate of spaghetti and veggies. Honey mustard is my favorite, and to combine that with crispy chicken? What a great idea! The chicken came out crispy and hot and the meat was tender and juicy. Love this dish! We wrapped up our meal with the famous chocolate souffle. Dang! That was good! Piping hot, creamy, sweet, slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside like a snowball! We got the vanilla flavor too but I liked the chocolate one better. The lady owner was there last night and she was bubbly and socializing with all the customers. Friendly and good service overall. Seating was a bit tight so make sure you make a reservation ahead of time or come early. The cafe inside is very small and crowded whether you go for breakfast or lunchtime. The space is very limited and if you consider yourself taller than the average person in Hong Kong, be very careful when moving through to sit or stand as there are various ceiling heights in the old building. Service is alright and efficient as most HK cha chaan tengs are expected to be however, I didn't like the attitude of one of the servers who brought out my table's meal as it was not what was ordered. She questioned our order and it was very clear that no one in my group ordered it, yet she insisted that we did. After a bit of back and forth, she decided to swap out the meal for the one we actually ordered. The food was A-OK, nothing particularly spectacular. The toasted and buttered bun was decent but didn't have enough butter not toasty char. The macaroni noodle soup was on the bland side. The hot dog and eggs were very typical. The best thing we had were the milk teas. Prices are very normal for Central but would be considered overpriced in other areas of HK. I'm not planning to make a return unless someone requests it specifically or if I only want to grab a milk tea to-go.
