The building's renovation over the last decade has modernized this 4 star property, which is run by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong. Overall, the beds are comfy, the amenities are solid, and the hotel is an excellent value. If location is everything, then this quiet stretch of Waterloo Rd is a nice departure from Nathan Rd, which is just around the corner. It is also 2 minutes from the nearest MTR station (Yau Ma Tei) and stone's throw away from Dundas St and the Ladies Market. The rooms are spacious and modern, which is a far cry from many adjacent hotels on the Kowloon and HK island side. I'm a fan of the larger beds, which were also fairly comfy and the rooms have actual views of the city and beyond. Shower and bathroom facilities were also not a shoebox, which I very much appreciated. From an amenities standpoint, it's quite generous. They have a hotel rooftop pool, along with a 24 hour fitness center, and pretty strong WiFi. Several years ago they would equip every guest with a complimentary smartphone for local calls and internet, which was unheard of. Some good news for the environmentally conscious: It is also eco-certified. As a result, they will no longer offer disposable plastic tableware or plastic bottled water. All guests are encouraged to bring their own personal toiletries as toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. will not be provided. Where they fall short is the dining options, which have been mediocre overall. City Cafe is their all-day buffet option, the Balcony is their in-house Cantonese + Dim Sum spot, Amazing Bakery is the grab-n-go option, and the Amazing is their overly fancy but subpar haute cuisine establishment. Eating off property is far more exciting (#1), but this is to be expected. Lastly the service has been good but not great. They could certainly be more efficient for check-in/check-out times and seem to be understaffed. Concierge is not exactly up to par with the luggage handling or recommendations, but this is not a a deal breaker. All in all, this place gets a big thumbs up. The biggest advantage is the location: you're right near the hustle and bustle with plenty of food and shopping options, and the MTR station is just a short walk away, which makes getting around Hong Kong very easy. The hotel itself was okay overall. During our stay, some areas were under construction, so parts of the property felt a bit less polished. In the lobby, they have a communal water station, which was handy, but we didn't really explore many of the other hotel facilities, so I can't comment on the gym or other amenities. Our room was fine but definitely on the smaller side, which seems pretty typical for Hong Kong. There wasn't much space to move around, and the beds were extremely small and fairly firm, so comfort may be an issue if you're taller or prefer softer mattresses. The room had a cooler box instead of a proper fridge, and based on our experience I wouldn't trust it for storing food that needs to stay cold. Overall, I'd call this an okay hotel: great for its convenient location and access to transit, but with pretty basic rooms and a few quirks that might be dealbreakers for some travelers. If you prioritize being close to the action and can live with tighter space and firm beds, it can work, but it's not a standout stay.

The first thing to be aware of is that one side of the hotel faces the cemetery, so if you didn't book a Causeway Bay or racetrack view room, then you'll likely have a room that overlooks the cemetery. We were well aware of this from our research prior to booking, but it didn't bother us much so we decided to stick with the cemetery view and pay a little extra for the room with clear windows (as opposed to frosted windows which is a separate booking) to let more light in, and so we could look outside and feel less cooped up. However, when we got to our room, the windows were boarded up with textured glass panels and you could not see outside at all. We ended up going back down to the front desk to point out that this is not what we booked.  In my opinion, there was more back and forth between the front desk and the manager than there should have been. They kept stating that the room was correct and that the clear windows were just behind the paneling...and that most people just keep it closed because of the cemetery. We told them the paneling wasn't disclosed in the booking and we wanted to be able to look out the window. So the manager came up with us and tried to remove the paneling, but was only able to partially remove one of them. He told us they were fully booked out for the night but he will see what he can do. He later called to offer us complimentary breakfast for the stay as compensation for the incorrect room we got, but we declined as we were only in HK for a few days and wanted to get out and experience local cuisine. Not to mention, we didn't want to continue staying in a room where we couldn't look outside...so I asked again to be moved to a different room. After another call he informed us he could move us to a clear windowed room the following night, but since they were full for the night we'd have to stick it out one night which we agreed to.  We were told our luggage would be moved to the new room when ready, however instead we had to move everything ourselves. We first repacked everything, went down to return our keys when we were told to move our luggage to the new room, so we had to go back up, grab all the luggage, go back downstairs, return the old key and grab the new ones, and go all the way back up with our bulky luggages. We didn't get any compensation for the inconvenience as well as the fact that we were not provided the correct room type on our first night.  On top of all this, the carpets in the original room looked super dirty and stained. The shower door was also not flush with the rest of the glass..there was a gap towards the bottom which meant a ton of water leaked out onto the bathroom floor when we showered. We tried to soak it up with towels but there was just too much water, and it ended up tracking out into the entryway where I slipped and could've injured myself. Luckily, the carpet in our new room was much better, and the shower did not leak although it did have some problems with draining. Our newer room also felt more spacious as they made better use of the available space in terms of room design. Elevators were extremely slow and did not fit many people. Plan extra time when leaving your room in the morning, because some days we had to let multiple full elevators go by before we could fit in one. Even just waiting for one elevator sometimes took a few minutes. Lots of people checking out the hotel breakfast on the 2nd floor too in the mornings.  Our friends' room got a vending machine voucher for skipping room cleaning, but not sure why this wasn't offered to us as we did not have our room cleaned for our entire 5 night stay.  One plus was that flavored water and candy were available in the lobby afternoon which was a cute little perk. Location-wise, it's also  pretty close to a number of bus stops but you'll likely have to do a few bus/subway transfers if you're looking to venture out beyond Wan Chai.  Communal laundry is available and the dryer was actually powerful. You can only pay with Octopus card or WeChat pay though, and there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers.  Overall, it seems like there's a lot of inconsistencies between the cleanliness of their rooms and not sure how they can advertise clear windows when they're boarded up. Due to our experience staying here I would look elsewhere the next time I'm in HK.

The location of the hotel is convenient as there is a 24hr supermarket just beside it. Moreover, you are a short walk from the MTR station. There are shops and restaurants also located around the hotel which makes it really convenient! The hotel lobby is dim, moody, and chic when you enter (with strong AC) and there were always staff present to answer our questions. At the front of the hotel there is a small area for drop off or to grab a taxi. Rooms are spacious where there are amenities like a safe, iron/ironing board, nespresso machine with coffee pods, hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, etc. available. During our stay at The Park Lane, staff were friendly and we were able to do an early check in (checked in at 7am in the morning!). Housekeeping always kept our amenities stocked and the room clean. We had no complaints and enjoyed the harbour and city view we got. In terms of hotel facilities, there was a gym and sauna located on the 5th floor. The gym was small but had several cardio machines, free weights and several machines. I went to the gym several times where it did get busy one morning. The gym also provides you with towels and they also have a refillable water station as well. Inside the lockers at the gym you can find showers, a sauna, and resting areas. We didn't have time to check out the bar at the top floor of the hotel which gives great views of the HK harbour. Overall, a great stay in Hong Kong where the rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would not hesitate to stay here again in the future!

We are Marriott Titanium Elite members, but this was our first time booking through the Chase portal instead of our usual Marriott Bonvoy app. Initially, it felt like our status didn't matter, the city view room we were assigned was very dated and faced an old building roof. We were quite shocked given the price and the 5 star hotel, it felt more like a 3 star experience. ​ However, the service recovery was outstanding. Florence from the front desk stepped in and completely transformed our trip. She gave us the option to move us to a beautifully updated room with stunning views of Victoria Park and the Causeway Bay waterfront. Even though it was a King room, she quickly arranged a roll away bed for us and ensured our Executive Lounge access was honored. ​Another highlight of her service came later, we had headed downstairs to buy some snacks, but my 10 year old son didn't want to join us, so he stayed back in the room. While we were out, he realized he couldn't find his iPad and actually called the front desk for help! I was shocked to hear he did that, but so relieved and impressed that Florence personally went up with a colleague to assist him. It's that kind of genuine care that makes a hotel stand out. We would definitely return, provided we're in one of the renovated rooms.

The hotel is most definitely dated, feeling like something out of 80s with its dark colors, and faux-luxury throughout the place. There are numerous things that could use an update, from the gym to the restaurants. Both Canton Room and Le Cafe have fallen on hard times, but I hope they can rebound soon. The amenities in the room are not impressive, with very basic travel sized items and a confusing ventilation system. Outlets are not as widespread as I would have hoped but at least the WiFi was on point. I don't recall watching a single episode of anything on TV. Despite being across the street from some of the shady nightlife joints, the location is truly hard to beat. The MTR is only a block and a half away, there are cafes, eateries, and laundry services nearby, and it's easy to go in and out of the property. Taxis have a dedicated drop off area and it's also located near the highway. I would happily stay here again especially for $100 a night. They did not allow anyone to check in early. They told us 2pm- which seems silly to have dozens of families waiting around until 2pm to get to their rooms. There were so many of us in the lobby waiting. At around 140pm I felt that was long enough and asked if my room was ready- she said yes. The room was really small- a 4 person family room had two double bunks- a fridge but no microwave. If you have a lot of devices to charge, you'll need to bring an outlet adapter, otherwise, you have one plug in the bathroom and one plug at the desk. Both outlets only allow for you to plug in items with two prongs. FYI- if staying long without an adapter you can buy an adapter in the temple street night market for about a US dollar. The beds are super firm. I was fine with it but it is unusually firm- firmest bed I've ever experienced. The breakfast buffet is not worth it - imo. It had very little options for protein. The room was clean and you're provided with disposable slippers. We stored 10 luggages with them before check in and when we checked out. It appeared to be secure. The location was perfect and there was always a taxi at the stand ready to take you out. Almost all staff spoke or understood English so that was convenient for me. The housekeeping staff did not though- but I didn't need anything but toilet paper so no big deal. I'd stay here again .

It also we were within walking distance to the pharmacy, convenience stores and shopping malls. The rooms were OK, clean sheets, good water pressure, dark curtains, excellent AC. The breakfast (buffet) was included and there are plenty of choices for all kind of tastes. Staff mostly is bilingual so you won't want problems asking things around and requesting help. They have currency exchange at the lobby, which is very convenient if you like to gradually exchange your money per day. The Flamingo bar has a large choice of drinks and you get 15% if you are staying in the hotel! Internet / WiFi is EXCELLENT everywhere in the room and hotel. Kudos to that! Oh! There is a door by the main lobby that will connect to a bus station! The reason I gave them 4 stars is because they don't have amenities (gym nor pool) and because one day I was charged $50 HKD for a cup of lemon Lipton tea. Not specialty tea, not afternoon tea time, nothing special. I just wanted a cup of tea and that's what the manager said it was the price (plus the 10% service charge it came to 55). There is a restaurant in the hotel but its super boring, and expensive. But there is great! inexpensive restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and everywhere you go. Butterfly on Morrison lends out free smart phones with internet connection for navigating around town , phone calls , etc. for you to have 24/7 for your stay. They also lend out cell phone battery boosters, selfie sticks ( Lol !) , and other items to make your stay convenient and enjoyable. No need to bring a toothbrush to this hotel. They supply high quality toothbrushes along with toothpaste on a daily basis, to my surprise the cleaning lady kept trashing my toothbrush and giving me a new boxed and package toothbrush. In America we keep quality toothbrushes for at least 3 months before trashing. Lol! But it was all good! no complaints. There are many forms of transportation just outside the hotel door, literally. Bus stops, Trolleys, taxis, etc. and the subway MDR is not to far away and transportation cost is inexpensive and always moving, No long waiting times! Tip: get a Octupus card ASAP { Easier to buy at airport upon departure } to pay for public transportation with ease it is a must! except for taxi they take cash only and are the more expensive ( but moderate ) of the transportation in Hong Kong , all other forms of transportation are inexpensive but require the prepaid Octopus card. Hotel staff are knowledgeable about transportation and activities needs.

I won't say we're high maintenance, but we ask questions to make our time on tour more comfortable. They were instrumental in our experience. The hotel's rooms are small but comfortable. I must say there are windows into the toilet which is pretty weird depending on who you may be spending time with in your room as visitors/roommates! There is a blind, but it is just a blind. Weird, so I mention it. Views are staggering! Bear in mind that a government housing unit is right next door, so depending on what room you're in your neighbors may get to know you all to well, or you them! So my only recommendation is to get a key upon check in, travel to your room, check out the situation, and either accept it or ask for another room. Who wants to keep the blinds closed for much of the day and night on the 18th floor?! Just saying. The prices were below expected, they loan umbrellas readily, they keep elevators at the ground floor for guest convenience, and they have maps ready to direct guests around comfortably. Public transportation is ALL around, so getting anywhere could not be easier. Also, if you are staying a long time, like we did a laundry is literally right around the corner, that is almost too cheap. Drop of 10 kg of dirty clothes, pay about $11 USD up front, and return four hours later to find it "folded" and ready to pick up, bagged, tagged, and handed with your receipt. Can't beat it. We will surely return at the first opportunity.

So nice to be upgraded to a room with a harbor view to be able to see the sunrise in the morning and enjoy watching the boats along the harbor at night. The king room was simple, but comfortable. The free WiFi was fast. Nice to have water bottles and English breakfast tea. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Loved the corner with Hong King milk tea and cocktail and pineapple pastries. The pineapple bun is perfect with some cold fresh butter. Lots of Asian and continental offerings which changed daily. The cream filled bao buns were so yummy. Loved the noodles, samosas, and masala chickpeas and cauliflower. The smoked salmon was so fresh. The beet and apple and quinoa salads were so good. Definitely try their fresh fruits, the pineapple was amazing, and chocolate croissants. A great way to start the day. Want to swim? The rooftop heated pool is long enough to swim decent laps. Loved the view as well. Head to the sauna after your swim. The steam and herbal saunas were perfect at the end of a long day of exploring Hong Kong. The experience shower with its multiple options was nice as well. Location is so convenient. Easy to walk to the promenade or the MRT. Service was great. Would recommend staying here again.
