I've had a variety of their signature biang biang noodles, such as spare ribs, beef and leek dumplings, and lamb dumplings. I would definitely go with one of the dumplings. Both were very flavorful and juicy on the inside. Although the thick, flat noodles are hard to share because it's one long piece, I love the texture of them. I think they're the perfect amount of chewy and compliment the spices perfectly. Aside from the signature biang biang noodles, I've had their cold noodles with sesame sauce. This is also a favorite of mine at Yau Yuen Siu Tsui. The noodles are thinner, but still have an amazing texture to them. They're not soft and soggy, very chewy. The sauce also hits just the right amount of spice. Their appetizers are also very unique. We've had their grass jelly with peanut sauce and shredded lotus roots. The grass jelly had a wasabi element to it where the spice goes up your nose so I wasn't that big of a fan. The shredded lotus roots were fantastic though! They were cooked perfectly so that there's still a crunchy to them but not too hard. Although small, this place still get really crowded and so the service can be kind of slow but I enjoy it because that means you don't have to rush through the meal. The only thing that might give Yau Yuen Siu Tsui a ding on points is their location. It's not particularly convenient to get to.

They have a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. For appetizer, we had a noodle with chicken and cucumbers. Then for the entree, I was recommended to get the biang biang noodles, which are thicker and wider noodles compared to many other types of Chinese noodles. I got it with dumplings. The dumplings and noodles don't come in a soup, but it does have some spicy chili to go with it that tastes really good. I like the unique flavor and noodle texture. They have very nice decorations in there as well. From what I hear, they were previously at a smaller spot and relocated here. Glad they moved to this bigger spot so more people could dine in. This restaurant is a bit out of the way and the kind of place you wouldn't know about unless you knew a local. I learned of this spot from my aunt who lives in HK and has brought me here for dinner a couple times. The storefront does not have an English name so you will need to look for the Chinese title. Look for a red color sign. The restaurant interior has a feel of a hole in the wall. When you enter, grab a table if there is one open. Though be forewarned that you might need to share it if the restaurant fills up. It is best to get in early (5-ish) before the crowd at dinner time. There isn't an English menu, so it helps if you come here with a Chinese speaker. But there are menu item photos plastered over the wall so you could simply point to what you want here. The signature menu item here are their dan dan noodles. They are also a very good deal since it is just HK$24. This dish is spicy, though you can ask for a less spicy version but it is a bit watered down in flavor. On my recent trip, I had a few other items in addition to the dan dan noodles and all four of them were great. They have this fried fish appetizer which are crunchy that I couldn't get enough of. Then there were the two Sichuanese standards, chili green beans with ground beef and ma po tofu. The green beans were nice and crisp with plenty of garlic and chili pepper. The ma po tofu was silky and comforting. They also have xiaolongbao here which are HK$50 for an order of 8. For a restaurant that does not specialize in Shanghai cuisine, I thought these were quite good. Not the best I have had, but solid. The service is great here. And the chef was quite accommodating despite all of the special requests we had. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, but if you are looking for good Sichuanese food, Wing Lai Yuen is worth seeking out.

From the basket, to the vinegar, and all the way to her lips, no part of the Little Dragon Bread falls apart. Perfect. The Custard Bun looked equally nice. When you rip the soft, white buns in half, a lava of custard flows out, similar to how egg yolk would burst out of a punctured benedict. It is important to note that none of the food actually tastes great, but at least they look good, and that's all that really matters to FML. Kind of like how she likes for you to wear a collared shirt to dinner, but really, you're more of a Allen Iverson jersey kind of a guy. Some things are better left superficial. We had just missed the lunch crowd so we didn't have to wait for seating. The menu is in Chinese. When the server noticed I was using Google Translate, she brought over an English menu. 2 of us ordered the wonton noodles and one ordered a tossed noodles dish. They were all delicious! My brother-in-law who comes to HK twice a year was thrilled to discover new restaurants with us! We had ordered the noodle set so it came with choice of green vegetables and hot drink. We order the choy sum and it was the most tender choy sum we've ever had! Service was efficient. If you want to try some really good wonton noodles, this hits the spot.

Lung Tak Lau is situated on Victory Avenue, I think most people will raise an eyebrow if you told them you were coming here for food because most of the shops here are pet shops. Down an entire street of incessantly barking dogs you will find this little shop here in the middle of the street, I saw little because it really is small- it seats around 20 people but that's about that. You are all squeezed into impossibly small tables and served with a proper size teapot that takes up half the space as it is. The food is mainstream dim sum- there are around 20-30 items on there including favourites like cha siu bun, haa gaau and siu mai. All of which are extremely tasty as I suspect these people make their own dim sum rather than buy it from producers outside. Another must order is the steamed rice- with a variety of toppings this makes for a perfect cure to any hangover when you crave something filling. Drinking more tea will wake you up more so I guess this is a tasty solution to your post drinking blues. The location will also be a bonus for motorists as there are metered parking spaces outside, though it does get quite busy on weekends so expect to do a few more turns around the block before you can sit down.
