It is a spacious, quite well appointed, middle-end restaurant of a known Federal brand. Last Monday…read morewe came for the afternoon tea. There was a large crowd by the door waiting for the afternoon tea time to start at 2pm. We thought, that was a good sign for good food. Right? Unfortunately, we had a disappointing 2-Star experience here with several of their dim sum dishes! DETAILS We ordered several COMMON dimsum dishes, and 5 of them turned out to be BLAND in taste, including one in Sichuan style, which should have been traditionally spicy! Go figure! SPECIFICS 1. "Blanched squid and tripe in lettuce": - Totally without taste and flavor, albeit tender; the cooked lettuce made the dish watery and bland! The accompanying dipping sauce didn't help. 2. "Sichuan style stuffed tofu": - While looking good with a nice texture, the dish had no taste, nor flavor! Sichuan style? Go figure! We had to ask for hot dipping chili oil! 3. "Fried radish cakes in XO sauce": - No hint of radish taste! The cake was also too hard in texture! The cake must have been pre-fried PLAIN, then just added xo sauce on top of the radish before serving! 4. "Orange peel flavored beef meatballs": - No hint of any orange peel flavor; the meat had good texture but quite bland, even with extra vinegar sauce. 5. "Char sui (roasted) pork rice rolls" (no pic): - Even with the pork, it still lacked flavor; the skin was also a bit too thick. This restaurant is spacious and quite well appointed. Some tables have a view of the water. We were totally disappointed at their bland tasting dishes. To be fair, this is our first and only visit at this restaurant, but after having a sad experience with 5 dim sum dishes, I don't think that we'd come back here again. May 04, 2015

As gweilos we have enjoyed dining at Praise Noodle in Popcorn Mall, TKO, in recent years. Last…read moreevening we went with two HK friends who chose the dishes for us. The meal was a whole order of magnitude more excellent than what we expected. We had (our usual) wonton soup, but also fish congee, beef noodle (without soup), spicy pork noodle (no soup), hot almond pudding and cold mango/sago pudding. We had the usual choi sum (needed a few minutes more on the stove). We also had sweet and sour pork which I dreaded given how disgusting this dish generally is in the US. All I can say is that we inhaled all this food. Amazingly the sweet and sour pork was a standout for me. If you decide to try this restaurant you should know it is extremely popular and extremely noisy. The Cantonese do consider noise to be a vital component of enjoying a great meal, and the noise level matched the wonderful cuisine. Also, you are almost going to be the only non-Chinese diners at Praise Noodle, unless my wife and I happen to be in attendance. See you there!

The quality of the food was very fresh and the price was very reasonable. The texture of their congee was perfect, not too thick and not too runny. They are also quite generous with their portions. If you are looking for chinese comfort food, this is the way to go. The restaurant is located in a shopping center and so expect long lines during the weekend.
