Unfortunately, I do not understand the hype this place has as a "Michelin Guide" restaurant. It was very disappointing, even with regular restaurant standards. I will say, this place being "Michelin Guide" is quite affordable. However, the food sucked, to put it bluntly. i ordered a large Wonton Noodle Soup, the very dish they are known for. The bowl was very small, like a small side of rice bowl. It was not not even a regular size wonton noodle soup. The entire dish, from the soup, the wontons, and even the noodles, lacked a lot of flavor. In addition to this order, I got the bbq pork with egg noodles dry. Again, the noodles just weren't that great. Like they were super thin and didn't have much of a crisp crunch to it, which indicates it may have been overcooked. All in all, I do not recommend nor will return. The service was okay. The food did come out fast, so I appreciate that. The place was packed when I went. Lots of seating and bright restaurant. It is located in a mall.

Beautifully decorated restaurant that almost reminds me of being inside a Tiffany jewelry box. However, the food didn't meet my expectations as a Michelin star restaurant. The fish skin was overly salty and wasn't very crunchy. The wonton noodles had an EXTREMELY strong ammonia taste and smell that I had to drown out with vinegar. I've never had ammonia smell this strong from these noodles elsewhere. The noodles weren't as springy either. Located a mall in Causeway Bay, prices were a little bit higher.

Call me crazy but after eating Michelin goose 2 hours ago, we are now eating at Ho Hung See. The very first wonton noodle restaurant to receive a Michelin star. The soup is a tad bit salty for my palette but the shrimp wontons were delish! Also ordered other dimsum dishes such as steamed chicken feet, steamed pork bun (3 in a basket and ate it all. Sooo goood!!!!) steam brown sugar sponge cake, meatball congee (this was sooo goood!!!) and my favorite Chinese dessert osmanthus jelly with red wolf berry.

Very clean interior. The wonton and dumpling noodles soup were very good. The beef brisket noodle soup was very good as well. The portions were small so ordering the stir fried beef Ho fun was not too much food.

Some dishes are single person servings. Food come out very fast. Food comes out warm. Not hot. But taste is great!

This is the Parent Restaurant of my favourite noodle place: Tasty Congee & Noodles ( Happy Valley Branch ). Originally, they are located across the street of Time Square on street level, in a very small space. Space is bright with very light color scheme, I would say the interior design is a bit out of place for this type of restaurant, but who am I to judge. Food wise it is top notch! Noodles are done just right, we ordered both wonton and sui gau to try out and both were done to the right consistency but my personal choice lean on the sui gas more. I especially like their Fujian Fried Rice; rich silky sauce and full of ingredients such as scallops, prawns, diced BBQ Duck, mushroom, etc. Service wise, we were greeted at the front by their hostess who is very friendly and polite, she made sure we had a booth and also came to make sure we have our tea cups filled throughout out meal! This is a good place to take a break after you have done your shopping and enjoy some wholesome wonton soup!!

Ho Hung is a popular place for both tourists and locals. When ever I come you will see a good mix of both. As the name suggests they are known for their noodles and congee. Their wonton noodles is one of the better ones in town. They also serve select dim sum and some stir fry dishes as well. Food: 4 stars Service/environment: 3.5 stars Overall: 3.75 stars Recommendations: wonton noodle soup, fried beef flat noodle, crispy shrimp roll If you come here you really need to order the wonton noodle soup. It hits all the notes that you look for. The noodles are nice and springy and soup has a rich depth of flavor to it and has tons of umami. The wontons for me are more complimentary part and these are good here too.

We tried the signature wonton noodle soup, beef chow fun, chicken feet, fried cruller wrapped in rice noodle, and fried custard buns. The noodles were al dente and the wontons had a silky wrapping with 2-3 shrimp inside. The chow fun was lighter in color than what we are used to but still had a great taste. I was disappointed with the chicken feet as it had a strangely thick sauce that was overly salty. The fried cruller wrapped in rice noodle was freshly fried and crispy, with the a delicate rice noodle. If you have a wonton noodle craving and want a more fancy feel, this is your spot. The decor is fancy!

Knowing that it was going to be packed lunch hour, I arrived almost when Ho Hung Kee was about to open. Fortunately, I was able to snag a table, but it definitely got crowded within 15 minutes. While it's a little pricey for the style of food you're getting, the quality is apparent. I went for the signature wonton noodle soup (雲吞麺). The large size would be a small in the States. However, the noodles were quite good, with a nice bite to them. The wontons had a delicate wrapping and plump shrimp inside. The broth was very clear and clean, but with a savory flavor. While there is red vinegar, if a broth is flavorful enough, you don't really need red vinegar. The fried cruller wrapped in rice noodle (炸兩) was one of the best I've ever had. The cruller was freshly fried and crispy, with the rice noodle super transparent and delicate. The rice noodle was opaque and barely wrapped around the cruller. Service was decent, though it is clearly advantageous if you know Cantonese. I'm not a big fan of the decor here, as I feel like I'm in some bizarre b-movie sci-fi/fantasy ice palace...even though the cold never bothered me anyway. :-P

Are you a shrimp wonton lover like I am? Delicately wrapped and crisp shrimp in every bite is what you'll find here. The broth is so flavorful it is hard not to slurp the entire bowl of wonton soup. The atmosphere is dazzling with a modern and clean feel. Service is prompt and efficient, so fast paced that our dessert actually came out before our meal. The beef chow fun was also nicely prepared, with a small amount of char on the noodles and a decent amount of sliced beef. The wontons were a clear winner as each bite was full of shrimp and the seasoning of the broth was slightly peppery. We ended our course with a refreshing osmanthus flower jelly with wolfberries. I definitely recommend this place to all the wonton addicts out there!

Ho Hung Kee might not be the hole in the wall hidden gem but still worth visiting if you want to experience traditional every day Cantonese food. Located in Hysan Place right in the heart of CWB. Easily accessed by MRT, trams and buses. They are even carry on suitcases friendly as a lot of tourists or out of town visitors does drop by before going the Airport. Arriving early before the lunch rush and we ended up get seated in a comfortable booth right away. After eating in Hong Kong for awhile, I can no longer take for granted that one can enjoy their meals in clean, private and spacious space without rubbing elbows or even sharing tables with strangers. Ho Hung Kee, though a little pricier but sometimes it worth the higher prices. Plain Congee ($29) 明火瑤柱米王粥 Rice Roll with Fried Dough ($48) 香油條腸粉炸両 Wonton Noodle Soup ($39) 正斗鮮蝦云呑面 All were freshly prepared and delicious! I love the bouncy bite of my noodle and the perfectly cooked one bite wontons. The rice roll so thin and almost transparent. Plain Congee so soft and fluffy with a nice contrast of fried shredded dried scallops. 10% auto gratuity added but the service was fast and friendly.

One Star Michelin restaurant - Ho Hung Kee Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop A little history about Ho Hung Kee... Ho Hung Kee started as a small food stall by a gentleman named Ho Wing Fong and his wife in 1946. It was well-liked by locals, senior government officials, celebrities and acclaimed businessmen. Fast forward to present days, Ho Hung Kee is still very popular and reputable for its high quality service and food. From 2009 to 2011, Ho Hung Kee was featured in the recommendation list of the Michelin Guide of Hong Kong. In 2012, it was awarded a star in Michelin Guide. So how was the experience for me? Service was A+; staff was friendly and helpful. Tea was constantly served. Food: Wonton noodles - A+ : noodles was perfect in texture or qq if you know what I meant. The shrimps inside the wontons were so fresh. Soup was light but tasty. Bean curd with prawns - A : in general I do not like bean curd skin especially those in dim sum places. The bean curd skin here was very thin and no funky taste. Congee with meat balls & leaned pork meat - A+ The congee was delicious with savory meat balls and leaned meat. Cheong fun (rice noodle roll) with BBQ pork - B+ The rice noodle a little too thick for my liking Flat wide noodles with beef - B : The flat wide noodles would be a lot better if fried for a longer time. Not too tasty; a little bland. Would I ever come back? Sure, but not for anything which I ranked less than an A. In general, stick to the wonton noodles and congee. Decor is nice and I like the turquoise color found on the seats and lighting fixtures in the restaurant.

Best cha leung in Hong Kong! Nice and thin rice noodle with crunchy texture inside

Solid dim sum in a crowded market. One of the few nicer ones with carts, which, if your friends…read morelike carts, is a plus. Definitely nice to get a few items not common in the states, such as duck feet with pomelo, and for the non-Chinese-speakers, the carts are all labeled in both Chinese and English (brilliant!). And the shu mai are tight little bundles, elegantly done with a shrimp curled on top-- again nothing crazy by Hong Kong standards, but still elegant enough to warranty praise. The pain is the price. As a higher-end place, well, it's not cheap. It's not priced too badly, but then, it doesn't compete with the very best either. And one slight weakness-- the char shu in the char shu cheung were overcooked. 3.5 stars, but I'll round up.

I'm quite sure that most dim sum lovers would have had a version of stuffed peppers somewhere. But how about a dish (or pan) of freshly pan-fried stuffed peppers and eggplants served - you guessed it - in the pan! Absolute yumminess can somehow indeed be found. (See picture) -- More Creativity. How about some fried bean curb rolls with baked lobster broth? (See picture). Bean curb rolls are a very common dim sum dish. But wait! Deep fry these super yummy rolls and serve them with a bowl of baked lobster broth with a flaky crust? Just in case you don't know how you're supposed to eat these (LOL) - Take a piece of the roll and dip it into the lobster broth, let it soak for a few second, then put it in your mouth and at the same time contemplate how far you are away from dim sum heaven. -- A rare gem perfectly made. Trying to find a quail's egg in the US in not that hard. But trying to find a quail's egg siu mai in the US is close to impossible Especially a really good one. I don't usually write in such hyperbolic terms, but I was truly taken aback by the design of the space that seems inspired by a Wes Anderson movie in its choice of a pastel colour palette and the symmetry in its lines. Throw in some mid-century modern elements (how can you ever go wrong?) and some splashes Chinese-hipster chic, you've got yourself an incredibly lush space. I could go on and on, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Given the visual splendor of John Anthony, you may wonder if the menu is worth ordering from, or should you instead just jump to the cocktail menu. Fortunately (and perhaps surprisingly), this isn't "just another pretty face". Similar to Mott 32, their menu is inspired by Cantonese style grill (and dim sum). They offer a similar (if not identical) IBERICO PORK PRESA CHA SIU, which his highly recommended. We also order the MINI LION'S HEAD, which was a succulent and tender take on a dim sum staple. The SEAWEED OKRA was perhaps one of the more surprising dishes in how light it was fried and how flavourful it remained. Finally, as many other reviewers from other sites have mentioned, the AUSTRALIAN WAGYU BEEF CHEEK IN WATERMELON CHILI SAUCE is a must try! The flavours and textures were, simply, amazing. A word of caution, it IS quite spicy, so buyer beware. Finally, to round things out, the service was impeccable - attentive and unobtrusive. Depending on what you order, be prepared to spend the equivalent of about USD30 or more per person. What sets Lei Garden apart from the rest of all the dim sum restaurants is not just the deliciousness of their food, but their refinedness and creativity. Shredded Yam Egg Rolls: That's exactly where their creativity and sophistication come in. The filling tasted like a puree of yam mixed with minced pork and was almost heavenly. These are hands down the best egg rolls that I've ever had! Honey BBQ Spare Ribs: This is one of their specialties and I highly recommend that you order this dish. The meat was so tender that they fell off the bones. The honey BBQ flavor was so delicious that I needed to borrow a phrase from KFC that "it's finger licking good!" (Yes, forget about the chopsticks and eat with your fingers!) Fried Chicken Wings: The skin was perfectly crispy and the inside was moist and juicy. This is another dish that requires you to eat with your fingers and lick them to completely enjoy the experience. Har Gow: Thin, translucent, and slightly chewy skins were graced with a shrimp filling that was bouncy in texture and rich in natural flavor. Bean Curb Rolls in Broth: The fish broth was richly flavored, and not only did it make the bean curb rolls more enjoyable, it was so tasty that we finished every drop of the broth, treating it just like a soup dish. Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf: Tasty and not overly oily (Yes!) fried rice was generously mixed with Chinese sausage, minced pork, salty egg yolk, among many other goodies. It was wrapped in a lotus leaf and steamed to perfection that the aroma of lotus filled the air and stimulated the palate. This is another one of their specialties that I highly recommend. Siu Mai: They were tiny but were packed with a concentrated richness that was enhanced by the flavors of black mushrooms. Small, bite size, refined, and delicate - They were exactly what dim sum should be like! Beef Balls: Quality speaks here. There was not even a hint of soda powder or tenderizer. Again, the serving size was tiny but the flavor was supreme. And that perfectly matches the city where the value of food is generally not measured by its size, but by its quality.

Definitely one of the best siu mais ever!…read more These tiny bite-size dumplings (quality, not quantity) were packed with delicious flavors and juices, which were further enhanced by the rich taste and aroma of diced Chinese black mushrooms - the perfectly authentic recipe. (Most dim sum places in the US leave the black mushrooms out of the recipe because the good ones are expensive). The dumplings were smooth and tender, and without a trace of chemical tenderizers commonly used by most dim sum restaurants. This is as good as it gets! Other staples were also amazing. Har gows were fresh, crispy and juicy. The rice noodles were so perfectly thin that they were translucent. Bean curb wraps were super yummy. Beef balls were on point, moist and flavorful, and sans the taste of tenderizer. The XLB's were good but unimpressive, but that's probably because we just had those at Wu Kong the day before. Every item was freshly steamed and served piping hot - so fresh and so hot that the steam messed up my camera lens and I had to wait for the steam to dissipate before taking my pictures. (Note: While carts are still a gimmick in parts of the US, it has been pretty much extinct in HK and many parts of Asia for decades). Other than dim sums, we also ordered a BBQ pork and roasted pork plate, which was delicious, and light on soy sauces and artificial flavorings. The delicate Chinese almond pig lung soup was absolutely refreshing and nutritious (yes, it was made with real pig lungs, which were separated from the broth and served separately in a dish). This was one of the higher-end restaurants and it was definitely quite expensive, depending on what you order. Including the above expensive items and about 16 - 18 dishes of dim sums, the bill for a lunch for 4 came to HK$1,200 (approximately US$150). It's worth every single penny. A solid 4.5 stars dim sum experience by Hong Kong's standard. Rounding it down to 4 stars due to the rather slow and unenthusiastic service. At this price range, top-notch service is expected.

Superb quality and service. Great menus, with a huge selection. Dim Sum was great. A super place to…read moregoals family and friends when they visit Hong Kong

1/2 Order Roast Goose (Bottom) - 4/5 BBQ Char Siu (Lean) 4/5…read moreCrispy Pork 4/5 HK Milk Tea 4/5 Price 3/5 - Tourist prices (not surprising) The roast goose is pretty delicious, juicy, and fatty. Bottom half is the way to go. But it's way greasier than expected, and the skin wasn't as crispy as I imagined it would be. We also ordered half/half mix of the char siu and crispy pork so that we got to experience both of those without ordering too much of one thing. Crispy pork could've been fattier, but it was still good with decent crisp in the skin. Their HK milk tea is the first one I tried while visiting overseas and it had a heavier tea taste compared to some of the other ones I tried at other places later on (which can be totally subjective and better if you prefer a heavier tea taste). Service wasn't that great in my opinion, but I believe it's the standard semi-rude/impatient Asian service that you'd expect at most places in Hong Kong. Food and drinks came quickly. Limited seating and packed completely when we went, but had a short wait time (quick turnover). You are seated close to other customers, but it didn't feel overbearing. They take Visa. If you like roast duck and want to try roast goose, this place is probably worth a shot.

I really don't understand why this place is so popular…read more The roast goose looked great, but that's about it. The skin wasn't crispy at all, and it was unbelievably greasy--oil was literally dripping everywhere. There was barely any meat, and after a couple of bites, all I had left were bones. The taste was okay, but definitely not worth the hype. The biggest issue is the price. You're paying premium prices for average food and tiny portions. It feels like they're counting on tourists who probably won't be back anyway. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely renovated, but that's pretty much the only positive. The service was by far the biggest disappointment. After I asked for a glass of water because the food was so greasy, the two employees at the ordering counter started making comments about us instead of simply helping. Our table was right next to the counter, so we could hear everything they were saying. It honestly felt intentional, as if they wanted us to hear them. I've never experienced something so rude over such a simple request. What makes it even worse is that they charge a service fee. I'm perfectly fine paying for good service, but if you can't even bring a customer a glass of water, what exactly is that service charge for? Taking orders and bringing food to the table is just the bare minimum. To top it off, after finally getting a table, we were told to go wait by the entrance again. The whole experience was disorganized and frustrating. Overall, this place is incredibly overrated. Hong Kong has countless small neighborhood restaurants serving better roast goose, at better prices, with friendlier service. I'd rather spend my money there than come back here. Would not return, and definitely wouldn't recommend.
