It was hot and humid, like any day in Hong Kong and I just wanted to sit down. At 1pm, we didn't wait long and the server was very courteous to us. It's always tricky to determine how long the wait will be and I appreciated that he kept checking in with us as we stood outside hot and sweaty from our walk; letting us know that as soon as a group pay their bill, we can be seated. Their set lunches range from $40 to $70, which is reasonable. We both ordered their set lunch no. 9 - soy Korean fried chicken wings. Perfectly marinated and served to us quickly. Their drinks are not as desirable though. I ordered their signature ice coffee and it just didn't hit the spot. for a $15 add on, it was less of a bespoke, unique Korean coffee and more of a Nestle instant with a bit of caramel on top. Their signature dishes? Cheese Egg Roll and Oppa Riceball. This foodie will definitely be returning for more chicken, more cheese, more rice and that chilled and friendly service! OPPA!

Still my favorite Korean BBQ place in Hong Kong. I used to go to their TST branch but the lines…read moreare too long. Here at CWB, there is virtually no wait time if you come on a weekday. (The lines are still bearable on weekends, if you are early - like before 7pm). The must-have for me is the 護心肉, i.e., meat around the heart. So meaty and packed with flavor! The other thing I also loved about Seorae is the condiments that comes with the meal. I usually order one meat + one carb (ramen or bibimbap) for 2 persons, and that's plenty because I get at least 5-6 sides, free with unlimited refill. Among which I love their steamed eggs and kimchi. The kimchi here is quite spicy but oh-so delicious! Service is quite good as well, especially true on weekdays! The staff came and refilled our sides without prompt! They also came and switched our BBQ plates for us without calling. Again, I went on a weekday when the restaurant wasn't busy. I am sure there are plenty of amazing Korean BBQ but why continue the search when you have already found one you enjoy? Plus, my bill usually averaged to only HK$150-200 per person, which is honestly a steal in CWB Hong Kong.

The place is more smokey than some other k BBQs I've been to, the kimchi has a kick but also surprisingly more ginger taste which I'm unfamiliar with in kimchi. The meats were well marinated albeit serving sizes were small. The beef was sliced so thinly they were probably more appropriate for hot pot! And again, easily stuck to the hot plate which made it difficult to cook. The bean and soft tofu soups were well made and flavoursome...and the bimbibap was as expected. One annoyance was that they didn't change the hot plate for about 20-30 minutes despite continuous request and as you can imagine with the sugars in the marinade, it was a charred mess. We also really enjoyed the chestnut rice wine, I've been to many Korean restaurants both in Sydney and HK and this was the first I've tried it! Very nutty and delicious! Overall decent experience and not very pricey.... But then again maybe that's because we waited so long for the hot plate to be changed we managed to eat in moderation for once.

Service was a bit slow, even though the restaurant was not full that day, being Chinese New Year and all. The decor is nice, clean and fresh. A huge drawback is the lack of restrooms, and that one has to go upstairs, out of the restaurant into the mall, meandering through various corridors to find it. That was a bit of a disadvantage after a pleasant meal.

The decor was cute, gold spoon and place mat all over the wall, it has a semi private area upstairs for large group booking as well. We made a reservation about a week ago and after we sat down at 8:30pm, we were told that about 30 dishes (no kidding) were "sold out".... I didn't really think it was sold out given that it was only 8:30pm, I firmly believe that they didn't budget their food properly. It was extremely disappointing but a bunch of us were already there, and how were we suppose to find another restaurant during that time on a Saturday night? So we sucked it up and hoped for the best. Unfortunately - on the meat page on the menu, only the most expensive beef dish was available (was hkd 4xx), but given the limited choice we had we just went with it. It was tasty, but it was served cold, seriously cold, at one point my friend even asked if this was an appetizer. The chicken wings looked much better than it actually tasted, I sound like such a whiner but it is what it is. Kimchi pancake was decent. I'm running out of things to say about the food. It was honestly a disappointing experience considering it's not a cheap restaurant, but staff acknowledge that they are in a "soft opening" mode and asked for understanding, they were in okay good spirit at least, so in return, I asked for a free beer and they said yes, so, I will give them another chance and return after they have fully settled in. Haha. Cheers for free booze!

This was my first time having Korean Cuisine (at least, I think so)…read more We had some time in between meetings so, we decided to sit and take the time to do the "cook at the table" menu. The meal my coworkers ordered included some meats, vegetables, and a fish soup. The soup was extremely hot but, once it was safe to taste it, it was delicious. Hearty, flavorful, really good! I'm not sure if you are allowed to cook the meats yourself but, our server did it all for us, explaining the right way to do it, and how to tell when all is cooked. I really enjoyed the process, I've always loved watching people cook and open kitchen restaurants so, this was fun for me. On top of that, everything was cooked perfectly and all tasted so fresh. They also had a sort of mini salad bar on the side, with some few items for you to help yourself from. I only tried the pumpkin soup. I was a little hesitant at first but loved it. It's creamy, a little sweet plus, it's pumpkin so, you feel like it's good for you. If I'd known of this before I had all the food on our table, I would have had seconds. Do note, the two servers we had did not speak English. Thankfully I was with locals so they helped me order, if not, I'm sure pointing at the pictures in the menu (those are helpful) would have done the trick.

Though Sorabol's Causeway Bay branch seems to be more popular, you'll still need reservations to chow down in TST - you're not missing out! As a party of five, we ordered a pretty wide selection of side dishes including two types of kimchi (which were later refilled four times - for free!). We began the main part of the meal with one portion of the Sliced Beef Chuck Flap, two of the Marinated Top-Grade Short Ribs, and a basket of lettuce to accompany them. A server usually comes by to prepare the barbecue dishes, but it was apparent that the restaurant was quite understaffed, strangely enough on a Friday night, so we cooked them ourselves. That being said, the quality of the beef was sick, being perfectly tender with a tang of sweetness. Its marinade made it sweet enough so that it would've tasted great without any additional flavoring, but also mild enough so that it got even better with a dipping sauce of sesame oil and fine sea salt. The Seafood Pancake was just the right amount of crispy with plenty of seafood per slice, and it came with a nicely curated soy sauce with scallions, sesame seeds, and fresh chili slices. When it came time for the Seafood Noodles Hot Pot, however, it took quite a while to get someone to come and cook it (they got distracted multiple times), and they forgot to return when it was finished. Overall, I'd say this: the friendly attitude of Sorabol's service was great for our experience despite the shortage of help. The price you pay, though relatively higher than some other KBBQ joints, is pretty reasonable considering the value you get in food quality. Will definitely be back!

Living in Asia it's difficult to not try the cuisines of your continent so I've tried Korean here and there but have never been totally impressed. One day in Discovery Bay while I'm trying to ignore the barks and cries I walk towards Ebenezer's. I can't remember why but at the time it was closed, probably renovations or something. I remember being upset because I was looking forward to a kebab, spicy. Next door First Korean had recently opened and was offering a very affordable lunch set and knowing that anywhere else on Disco-Bay I had to shell out over $100 for lunch. I ignored the voice in the back of my head warning me against trying Korean again. I can't tell you how many times I've been back for the same $65 Stone Pot Rice dish, enough for the waiters to know my order before I sit down. When I'm not sure what to eat - Stone Pot Rice, too lazy to cook - Stone Pot Rice, Hmmm should I try something else? No - Stone Pot Rice. That's a lie. I've tried a couple other dishes and they weren't bad; Sweet and sour chicken with rice, and sizzling beef and enoki mushrooms with rice. The chicken dish would be great save for the bones in each and every little morsel making it more of a mission than an enjoying experience. The sizzling beef is good, no complaints on this dish. But when compared to the Stone Pot Rice, it's crispy rice and tradition Korean sauce there's simply no question. Even listening to the same ten songs on repeat for the past three months hasn't stopped me from returning - in fact I think it's helping me learn to speak Korean.

The tasty kalbi (not the best quality) arrived on a sizzling platter along with some Korean mochi sticks (tteokbokki) that weren't spicy! Yay! They had a nice crisp outer layer from the caramelization of the teriyaki sauce. The inside of the tteokbokki was soft and comfortingly chewy. Service was efficient. We ordered and paid at the counter. Our food was brought to us. There wasn't much interaction because of the language barrier. The shop was clean and bright with lime green chairs and accaccents. We appreciated the air-conditioning and seat-yourself, casual style. No reservation needed!

I dined with several companions and we enjoyed our time. There is nothing outstanding about this restaurant. The kimchi was a bit bland. The kalbi was flavorful but the meat was obviously not as good as the meat used in Korean restaurants that I have visited in Korea and the US. The bulgogi was a bit bland. The panchan was limited.
