    Carne asada tacos and poutine.
    Lisa C.

Loved the carne asada tacos. I probably didn't need to order the huge plate of poutine although it was good also. Maybe if I had more people to share it with. There were some outdoor tables or you can take your food inside where you can order drinks at a common covered area.

From the moment you walk up to this cute little cart, the servers have always been friendly and the menu choices great. This food truck has got to be the anchor for the Lot , which by the way is not on my list of favorite food card areas. If you're looking for french fries in Central Oregon, this is hands-down the best food cart fries you will find. The sweet potato curry fries are a huge generous portion and absolutely worth a visit.

Nicely presented food but not edible. The meat is extremely salty and fatty. The salsa just feels jarred. Overall couldn't eat much since it just tasted like salt and lime. I have almost a 100% confidence the staff has never eaten their own food.

Got the tacos and was impressed by the flavors. I'm pretty picky on tacos since Im from SD, so when i stumbled upon this food vendor I was like okay why not. Definitely must try! The carne asada was cooked so well and the pork curry taco was not what I was expecting but even better. They have a pineapple sauce that worked well with the tacos too! Yum

Great food cart with fresh and delicious options. Try the pineapple habanero, medium salsa on the steak tacos for a real treat.

This food cart has fresh, delicious options. I'm a fan of their veggie or meat soft tacos. Fast and affordable, too. I'm gluten-free and dairy free, and I've never had a problem when I've eaten here. I just request to hold the dairy off my order. (The tacos come on corn tortillas.)

If you want something out of the ordinary, get the curry pork tacos or curry pork rice bowl here. When it comes it won't look like anything you're expecting. You'll open up your container and it's all pretty and colorful and then you bite into it and you get this flavor explosion that you weren't expecting! And the truffle fries. OMG. If you like thin shoestring fries and you like truffle oil. Do yourself a flavor and order these. We actually ordered TWO orders, thank goodness, or it would've started a war during the drive back to Portland. The tacos are small so you better order a bunch of them. This place isn't cheap but it's good food. Recommend!

We got the pork curry taco and the sweet potato curry fries. The taco was delicious; I could totally make a meal out of three or four of them. The sweet potato fries had an excellent crunch and decent flavor. The hoisin sauce seemed to overpower the curry initially but it once we got to the middle where more of the curry was, it complimented and went very well with the fries.

Pork Curry, Spicy Shrimp and seasonal veggie tacos!

3.5 stars, rounded up for friendly faces and creative cuisine. Why is it that we find so much creativity coming out of food trucks? Is it because the owners are motivated by the challenge of cooking in confined spaces? Is it because the most creative cooks and chefs are the ones with the least amount of capital and are forced to start up this way? Much like a tootsie pop, we'll really never know how many licks it takes to the center, or why this seems to hold true all around the world, but what we can count on is finding solid food inside trucks when we visit! A la Carte is a pretty non-descript truck that serves food at the lot. Their menu is made up of tacos, salads and fries, which on the surface sounds super generic, but in reality are quality offerings with some great creativity. I settled on the seasonal veggie taco, a spicy shrimp taco, and a pork curry taco, with an order of the Gorgonzola bacon fries. The tacos are packed full of goodness, and you could easily put half of the filling in the second tortilla and make two tacos from one! The standout was the seasonal veggie taco. The combination of wells roasted cauliflower, butternut squash and peppers with the added crunch of pepitas and cooling cotija, topped with shaved radish was awesome! I added some of their medium red and spicy green salsas and it was heaven! The pork curry was my second favorite, I only wished the pork would have been tossed in the delicious coconut yellow curry sauce that was on top. The braised pork was tasty but a little on the dry side, and the creamy sauce brought it all together. Shrimp taco was good, but not much to write home about. I didn't get that tell tale hit of harissa I was hoping for and felt the pineapple was a little too sweet. The shrimp would've been awesome if they were a touch larger and grilled to add in that charred flavor. Now for the fries... My gut told me to order the sweet potato curry fries, but my brain said I already had curry flavor in the taco, and suggested I pick something else. So I went for the Gorgonzola bacon. The combo was good. Gorgonzola aioli, fresh Gorgonzola, green onion and lots of bacon! The fries were thin and crispy shoestring style, and this dish was best eaten with a fork. The letdown was that the fries weren't fresh cut, which I so love and think have become more of the norm. IMHO there are just better quality frozen fries you can use, especially when charging $8-$9. Overall, these guys did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to return. With some fine tuning, I could see this truck reaching full five star potential!

I used to think Spork had the best tacos in Bend. These are better. Especially the veggie tacos. Don't skip the house made salsas.

You counter order/pay and then are assigned a table (very helpful when you are a party of 6). Later on, we even saw people getting delivered their drinks while waiting in line). This Asian inspired fast causal place did not disappoint in flavors or food (and with very reasonable prices to boot). We loved the esquites (traditionally Mexican style street corn) with fish sauce - so so good. The strawberry & crispy rice salad and Thai beef salads were both bright, fresh, and tasty. The dan dan noodles, lomo saltado, and curries were all great as well. As an extra icing on top - the drinks (especially the $3 nonalcoholic shrub and homemade sodas) were great as well. We loved this place.

Needs one guy serving drinks and answering questions about the menu, and one person taking orders. The food was Chinese fusion with Mexican influences and we got mala noodles, 1 shrimp taco, and fried chicken. I'm Chinese and my husband is Mexican, so in theory this place would be right up our alley. However the shrimp taco's tortilla was not made fresh which is is the whole point of the taco (the salsa and the tortilla). The chicken was decent but not spectacular. The mala noodle was good on flavor (kudos for keeping the "ma" part intact) and probably the best part of the meal, but the rice noodle needs to be cooked 1-2 minutes less.

Loved that all the food is homemade including the tortillas. We ordered the carne asada and chipotle tacos along with an order of eloté. We could not have been more pleased. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and we grabbed a table under a big tree. The menu offers some great selections. I was tempted to try the chilaquiles but tacos always get me. Carmen's Famous Tortilla Soup looked really tasty as well, so it looks like I have a reason to return. Alcohol including tequila is also served along with refreshing aqua frescos. Our food came out fairly quickly and it was hot and ready to eat. Tacos were juicy and the eloté although not the best I have ever had still provided good flavor. Location is easy to find although parking was tight. Perhaps it was the time of day we came and it was a weekend. Service was quick and efficient. Ambiance was perfectly beautiful sitting amongst the trees. I would recommend should you find yourself in Bend stopping here for a little bit of Mexico!

Randy ordered the chile rellano and a cheese enchilada. The enchilada was filled with cheddar and no white cheeses and not much of it. The chile rellano was better but the crema didn't have much flavor. The filling of the rellano lacked flavor too so he added salsas and that helped. The beans were too thick and the rice was dry. I ordered grilled chicken tacos and they weren't good. Overcooked meat and no flavor. I added some salsa and that helped a bit. I'm sure it's an us thing. We are used to so much more flavor.

Review - Don Gabino's Mexican Restaurant - Bend Oregon - Delivery DoorDash…read more This review is based on a number of delivered meals from Don Gabino's. The orders have been delivered via DoorDash. This restaurant is very near my home. I mention this because the most noticeable thing in ordering delivery from there is that each time, the food has been cold. It is surprising to me that a burrito wrapped in foil would become cold so quickly. The other consistent trait with the food I've ordered from there is that the meat is consistently very salty. The food is neatly packaged. Outside of the saltiness, I've enjoyed the flavors of their food. Plus, I can take the foil off the burritos and heat them in the microwave. I've also had their carne asada plate. I was surprised that instead of sliced steak, it had small cubes of steak (the same as in their burritos). Discussing cost for Don Gabino's is a little complicated. Their costs in restaurant seem to be very reasonable. The cost via DoorDash is not. However, for my last order (today 10/01/2025), there was a discount. Carne Asada Burrito $16.25 Delivery Fee $0.00 Service Fee $0.81 Discount -$2.30 Dasher Tip $6.00 Total $20.76 This left the Carne Asada burrito at $13.95. There was a time I would have scoffed at a baseline burrito costing almost $14 but those days seem to have disappeared. The delivery from Don Gabino's is always fast. DoorDash routinely beats the estimated time of delivery when I order from there. In the end, this is an average burrito at what seems to now be the average burrito price in Bend. It will scratch the burrito itch. This is the Bend based Mexican restaurant I've ordered from the most often.
