I got a Groupon deal for 2. The Groupon deal came with a shared green salad, shared chicken kaarange, two flights ramen sampler, shared dessert and 2 glasses of either wine, beer or sake. We paid $53 for the deal which was not bad. The ramen flight came with a vegetarian mala soup based ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen and Creamy Chicken Ramen. I really liked the Tonkotsu ramen and the creamy chicken ramen. The vegetarian was my least favorite because I am not a fan of numbing spice. The broth for both the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Chicken Ramen were very rich and flavorful. I got the thin noodles and they were not bad. The restaurant was a lot smaller than it looks from the outside. Inside was clean. Service was ok.
I visited Zubu for promotion course menu. We can choose 1 appetizer, 1 ramen, 1 dessert, and 1 drink(mocktail or beer or wine!!) This is one of the best deal I ever seen. We chose 5 pieces karaage, 1 tonkotsu ramen, 1 ramen flight(chicken soup base, tonkotsu, and vegan) and Aburi Cheesecake(extra CAD5.00) and mochi ice cream. For drink, I ordered Tokyo Sunshine mocktails(pineapple, peach, lychee, lime, mint), and partner had a Sapporo beer. We were so surprised Karaage's portion! They were very generous amount and came on large plate!! Tonkotsu ramen was decent. I liked Chicken soup base one (Ramen flight)which was very creamy and smooth, bold flavor. Vegan one was very spicy. Bean curd on the top was unique. Noodle was very good, too. Mochi ice cream was decent. Aburi cheesecake's torching presentation was amazing. This was second time I had this cheesecake. However, Cheesecake texture required refinement. The last one was better. I prefer more smooth texture. And Mocktail was great. Strong pineapple, lychee flavor and tasted great. Overall, we were really satisfied the meal. Service was great and quick. Highly recommend this special menu while it is available.
Starting the new year with a 5 star review on this cozy food spot because Zubu at Metrotown has delivered numerous good dining experiences over the years and I appreciate restaurant consistency. I applaud this location for keeping up its service through all its staffing changes because we all know how tough it can be to train staff. It offers a clean and cozy environment with fair service for lunch, happy hour or dinners. Thus, it has my 5 stars for its solid delivery of over couple dozen meals for me, and my friends & family with overall 8 to 9 out of 10 on food taste and presentation. This is not a "let me WOW you" with extreme extravagance place; instead, this place has won me over with genuine friendly service and its consistency in simple dishes. I actually don't always order rice and ramen when dining alone here; I prefer to order hand rolls and their appetizers here as a full meal. Some of my favorite dishes are ebi mayo, salad, fries, salmon taco, brussel sprouts tempura, and hand rolls. Dessert and drinks are my "must adds" to a full meal experience here. Thus I liked how they have expanded dessert menu so it's not just ice cream and that they also add new drinks to their beverage offerings and main menu items. I like their lavender and plum sake and the variety of flavors such as grapefruit beer etc. They actually have the lemon beer from Japan which is very refreshing! This is also a good location with free parking via Metrotown and it is a notch above in comfort and service from Metrotown Food court or Starbucks, especially when craving green tea or fizzy drinks with some light bites during happy hour. $3.95 green tea would beat the bubble tea places that lack the authentic green tea flavors and happy hour drinks here beat an overpriced Starbucks drink in my books. Finally, I am impressed by their yummy seasonal specials and honest loyalty program as I have actually enjoyed free yummies like rice bowl and it's not a program of endless accumulation with a long road to reward redemption. Recent December specials included $50 gift card with a $10 voucher and the seasonal menu offered huge bone marrow ramen. This spot has nice chilled vibes for dates and quick service for takeout orders. It may not be the most ideal for large groups, unless your group can fit at the rectangular bar in the front which probably can seat groups of 8 to 10 people. Zubu at Metrotown remain on my list of good Burnaby places to dine in and takeout in 2026!
Zubu, located just next to metrotown (Walmart/T&T area, where the old Zellers was, and where Bread Garden used to be), is in a pretty prime spot as you will see it driving along Central Blvd. But the parking. Not sure if it shares the metrotown parkade though. I have been here a few times and I like the ramen. My favorite is the spicy tonkotsu ramen. I prefer the "thick" noodle which is the classic. The thin noodle is like vermicelli to me. I like the broth to be rich too. The house salad and fried chicken are tasty. The temaki is also good but quite small. Love the Brussels sprouts. On my last visit, I had the ramen flight where you get 3 tiny bowls of ramen to try. They are spicy vegan, creamy chicken and tonkotsu. All are good though I don't like the soucy vegan as it's actually mala spicy where it's a numbing spice. I much prefer the usual spicy where you get the heat but not the numbness. Some of us requested non spicy when the server took our order. But it came spicy. When we asked about it, apparently the chef said no to making it non spicy. Then what's the point of asking if we can take spicy food? I went to look at the menu online and there is non spicy version! Server is great but the chef or whoever was in charge, not so much. So basically it's either suffer the burn and numbness or just leave that spicy ramen untouched. They are usually pretty good at accommodation, so I don't know what happened. Just be careful to dine here if you have allergies or can't take spicy food.
Zubu is a great spot for a nice evening hangout with friends! The ambiance is lively, exciting and they have great specials! My favourite is the spicy chicken ramen which is rich and flavourful!!!
Delicious Ramen & Convenient Parking! Visited Zubu at Metrotown and had a great experience. Parking is incredibly easy since you can just use the mall parking lot. They have a couple of excellent vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. The ramen broth was rich, deeply flavourful, and highly satisfying. Definitely worth a visit! Service and ambiance were really wonderful. Totally worth
Ramen place just S of Metropolis, on Central just S of the S parkade by the Walmart. I assume this building technically isn't part of the mall complex. Not sure if the mall (Metropolis) parking is supposed to be used for this place, but I imagine nobody would check. There is very little street parking around. The place looks pretty trendy and modern. Dark wood trim and somewhat dim lighting. Reminds me of eating in a forest for some reason. Staff are friendly and helpful. No complaints. As of the time of writing, there is a lunch special that includes an appetizer and dessert. However, the bowl is "mini" (or "medium") size. I asked the waitress to show me the 3 bowl sizes. Their "large" bowl is a "small/regular" bowl at other places. In other words, I think I would've starved to death if I ordered the lunch menu. Their "small" bowl could be used for holding peanuts at a bar. In other words, stick to the "large" bowl. Honestly I wasn't too happy with portion sizes. Knock 1 star off. Ramen quality is decent. Nice light broth, with a choice of "thin" or "thick" noodles. My understanding is that "thin" is the original, and that "thick" isn't really that much different (probably still less thick than pho). Pork slices were pretty good. Served with crispy garlic, 2 sheets of seaweed, some wood ear (fungus), and green onions. I also got their soft boiled egg for an extra charge. Not as soft/gooey as I would've liked, but it was acceptable. I guess this place is a somewhat decent option, but there are several other choices in the immediate vicinity including nearby Crystal Mall.
we were a party of seven for dinner on a saturday at 6:30 pm. reservations were made by phone the night before. we picked this spot because of its vegan friendly menu, a big plus when dining with dietary restrictions. tucked near metrotown on the walmart side (where the old bread garden used to be), with parking available at metrotown metropolis. we had high hopes for the garlic fries, but they didn't quite deliver. they were more bland than bold, and no garlic in sight. the texture was okay, but they weren't particularly crisp, and someone in our group said they reminded them of the masala fries from mcdonald's. paprika on top was an odd touch. i went with the creamy chicken ramen in a mini bowl, a solid choice if you want something light. it wasn't mind blowing, but it was comforting enough. we shared the chicken karaage, which turned out to be the best dish of the night, fresh, crisp, juicy, and exactly what you want when ordering fried chicken. service was polite but spotty. it took multiple tries to flag someone down to order gyozas, dessert, and to get the bill. staff were friendly, but we were seated at the back, and we were not in their line of sight. dessert was a bit of a mixed bag. the mochi ice cream (yuzu, matcha, and mango) tasted like the kind you'd get at t&t, not bad, just nothing special. yuzu was the standout. the cheesecake, which was torched tableside and recommended by our server, looked impressive but fell flat on flavour. style over substance. overall, it's a decent spot if you're already in the area or need a vegan friendly option, but not necessarily one i'd rush back to.
We recently visited ZUBU at their Metrotown location to satisfy our ramen cravings while shopping at the mall. This spot is conveniently located outside the mall, right across from Walmart and next to the parking area, making it super accessible. We are regular members of ZUBU and are familiar with their Happy Hour menu, which usually offers excellent variety and value. The food and service at this location were consistent with the standards we've experienced at other ZUBU spots. However, we were slightly disappointed with the ramen noodles -- they were soft and overcooked. This was unexpected since ZUBU typically delivers on quality. We also noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, which may have impacted the kitchen's focus. On a brighter note, we redeemed our ZUBU rewards points for their 5-piece Crispy Chicken and Pan-Fried Pork Gyoza, both of which were delicious! If you're a fan of ZUBU, downloading their app is a must -- it's an easy way to earn rewards and enjoy perks during every visit. Overall, ZUBU Metrotown is a decent option for a casual bite during a shopping trip, but we hope they can improve consistency, especially with their ramen. Food: 3/5 Can Try! Service: 4/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! The kid's menu has various kinds of food. Price: $20-$30 each person (Happy Hour) Presentation: 2/5 Parking: 4/5 Free parking available in the mall parking lot, but it is not easy during busy time or shopping season. Tips: * can get a free hand roll when signing up for their ZUBU app. * serve Happy Hour Sunday-Thursday from 2-5 PM and 9 PM-close. * can join the ZUBU app to rack up points and make your visits even more rewarding. * have an outdoor patio in warmer weather. Would I Return: Yes
We were looking for a Ramen place while shopping at Metrotown mall. The location was actually not within the mall but outside the mall across from Walmart. We ordered Brussels sprouts tempura for appetizer. It has a nice smell of the truffle oil but the tempura texture was not crispy and the Brussels spouts was flavorless. Since we have never been here, decided to try the ramen flight. It was really nice to try the 3 different ramen. We chose the 'thick' noodle. I liked all 3 but I think with the flight option, you are missing the egg, and extra seaweed/mushroom sides. We also signed up as their 'member', which gave us a free Temaki. The Spicy tuna was good, the blue crab was unfortunately a little dry. Would try the salmon Jalopenos next time. Service was decent but since you don't have an assigned waiter/waitress, no one knows what the last waiter offered.
Honestly, I like this place. The ramen was decent, they had a summer deal where you could get basically 2 basic ramens for a good price and they have some sushi items available. I got their zubu zubu ramen which was a good amount of food. I was pretty happy with the size and the chili oil was a nice touch to the ramen. I also had a temaki salmonella avocado hand roll as a starter. The salmon looked oddly fake in appearance, but it was salmon. Didn't really like how high the table and stools were. It was like a bar seat and just wasn't too comfortable since there's no backing on the stool. It was busy too, so we couldn't really ask for a regular table. I definitely do like the food though and I would go back for sure for the ramen.
Considering how cold Vancouver has been the past week, I was really craving some good ramen and decided to try Zubu. I did not dine in there but placed an order for delivery. It was also my first time getting ramen delivered so I was a bit skeptical but Zubu did a very good job of making sure the broth was nice and hot when it reached my doorstep. I got their spicy vegan ramen with extra bamboo shoot and it was the best decision I made!! The Spicy Vegan Ramen came with kale noodles, tofu, spicy bamboo shoots, kaiware, onion, corn, shredded Japanese leek, crispy garlic, black garlic oil, chilli oil, and sesame seeds. I also added extra fresh garlic to this which made it even better. The broth was the right amount of spicy, but a bit creamy as well! My favourite part about the ramen were the spicy bamboo shoots, I had never tried them in ramen before but my friend had really recommended them so I did and it was sooo flavourful!! Truly the best part about this ramen. Next time I would go in-person to check out their dine-in space :)
Nothing better to have ramen on a cold rainy day to warm you up. Busy location by Metrotown mall. Ample of mall free parking available. Little wait time of 10 mins. Service was readily available and quick to assist when needed. Had the following - * Ebi Mayo * Pan fried Gyoza * Nothing but Zuni * Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen * Creamy Chicken Ramen * Kid's Ramen Seating available are table and bar stool type. When it is a packed, place can be loud and challenging to hear others talking for atmosphere Recommended for ramen to go that is near the mall instead of having usual food court selection.
They currently had their grand opening (for their downtown location) special promotion! Until Jan 9, only $10 ramen at some of their current ZUBU locations I recommend making a reservation but they will still seat you otherwise if you don't mind the wait! I signed up for their Zubu app and got a free appy out of it so I tried their spicy salmon temaki hand roll. I choose the Zubu Zubu ramen with lean chasu! There's quite a few pieces of chasu for the Zubu Zubu it's a hefty bowl. The noodles are nice and thick. The only thing I didn't like was how oily the soup was, just wasn't for me.. I couldn't finish the soup. I also got a tonkotsu aka which was better and more my taste because you could choose the spice level and I choose hot which wasn't super spicy, just right. It gave the broth good balance I think. Finished it all, even the soup! It's a good place for dinner. read more
It's grand opening today and we were so excited for the 50% off deal. Their phone is super busy and so hard to call through just like Air Canada customer service. We decided to head to Metrotown around 11:30. We were only moved up half the line an hr later so we tried calling again. After redialing 6 times, we got through and placed our order! We were told to come back 3 hrs later which was fine. We went back at 3:30 to line up at the pick up line and the order was not ready. There were other people in line that have placed their order around 11 and were still waiting for their order. At around 5 something we finally got our order. When lunch becomes dinner... The staff is the same Jinya. They are very polite and apologetic for the wait. Zubu separated from the Jinya franchise because they want to be more local and source more locally. They really need to get the take out order straight. It is pretty chaotic today with the grand opening. People were lining up an hr in the pick up line just to check on the status of their order Foodwise: The ramen broth is good and I like the chewy texture of the ramen. I would like my chashu to be more tender. The Brussels sprout tempura is really good. The gyoza and fried chicken are ok. They are opening for dine in service on June 10. I would wait for the craze to die down before going back read more

Old weather calls for ramen . A nice big bowl for warm delicious noodles for the belly. I had the Tonkotsu Aka - chashu with thin noodles, nori, crispy garlic and black garlic oil. Added a perfectly cooked egg is a must. He had the crispy chicken ramen on the seasonal menu and he loved it. Not too spicy. The tables were nicely spread out with clear partitions between tables, the restaurant is good for social distancing. read more

Went for the $10 ramen promotion, the wait was around 2 hours to get a seat for 4 at dinner time so ended up getting seated at 9pm. Ordered: Tonkotsu Shiro Ramen Tonkotsu Aka Ramen Mazesoba Spicy Chicken Ramen Ramen broth was savoury with a good amount of spice that you can adjust based on preference. I got the extra spicy and it was a lot spicier than expected which I personally like. Each ramen comes with 2 pieces of fatty, lean, or mixed Chashu. The chashu was tasty with decently thick slices. The noodles we're undercooked though, a little too al dente for ramen. All of the noodles we ordered were thick noodles except for the Spicy Chicken. We also got 2 noodle refills of thin noodles for $2.5 each. I prefer the thicker noodles because they seems to grab the broth better. 8/10 overall read more
We dined in and got the $15 set menu which was a great deal as it included an appetizer, main, and dessert. The mains themselves were already $14 so it was certainly well worth the value. The edamame and mochi was pretty standard, good but not outstanding. I liked the flavour in the pork chashu bowl and the egg was done how I liked it but wished the mazesoba had a bit more flavor rather than just chili oil. Overall an okay place for ramen in the Metrotown neighborhood. read more

I stopped by for lunch over the weekend and really enjoyed my meal. We were seated right away. The restaurant was very child friendly with high chairs, cutlery, plastic bowls and plastic cups. They know how to cater to parents well. We ordered a number of items. I ordered a cucumber lemonade and it was more expensive than their summer alcoholic drink specials. It tasted exactly as I would expect. It appears cucumber syrup was used to mix with the lemonade. I wanted a refreshing drink that I can share with a child. We shared the gyoza and crispy chicken for appetizers. They definitely have one of the more interesting gyoza presentation. It arrived sizzling hot on a frying pan. Gyoza filling was made well and the gyoza was tasty. The crispy chicken was seasoned nicely. Meat was moist and tender. I had the the tonkotsu shiro with an egg added. The broth was flavourful with the mix of pork and chicken broth. Noodles had a good chew. There were two thin slices of chashu that were alright tasting. There was a spicy kick from the bean sprouts. Definitely, I needed the seasoned egg for the added protein. The egg had a soft yolk that I enjoyed. My husband ordered the bone marrow ramen and I took a small bite. It was full of beef flavour. Roast beef was tender too. The bone marrow was rich, soft and melt in your month. Beef broth was a bit on the oily side. This is a ramen worth trying once for the uniqueness. Service was great. Meal was on the more expensive side for lunch. It was about $75 before tip. COVID precautions were in place. Staff wore face masks. Hand sanitizer was available. read more

Tried Zubu for the first time during their promotional offering ($10 select ramen). It was a Friday night and there was a huge lineup when we arrived. Luckily we made reservations so we were seated quickly. Service was friendly and quick, we got our orders in and our ramen came out in good time. I tried the Tonkotsu Kuro since I love black garlic. It comes with pork broth, thin noodle, pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, crispy garlic, black garlic oil, crispy onion, nori seaweed. You get a choice of fatty or lean meat or a combination. I'd recommend lean since there's not much meat on the fatty cuts. The ramen won't fill you up by itself so I also ordered a baby scallop hand roll, which was yummy. Would definitely come back again for my ramen cravings. read more
Food: For only $15, we got a three course meal which was super worth it! For Appetizer, I got the garlic fries and my friends and I all thought it was better than the curry fries. The ramen broth was super yummy and thick. The noodles were okay but I've definitely had better. There was two pieces of fatty pork which were braised pretty tender as well. The best out of all was definitely the mochi. I was so surprised we each got not one but TWO mochi! Environment: Covid safe with plastic separator between each table. Portion: SUPER WORTH IT. Especially with the bite of Burnaby deal read more
[Takeout review] First time trying Zubu! I had heard fairly good things about it and we decided to try it this lazy evening. I ordered the cold ramen and my boyfriend got the mazesoba. The cold ramen has two options for soup/sauce - sweet soy and sesame. Growing up I had cold ramen ("hiyashi chuuka") at home on hot summer days and I always preferred sesame sauce (vs a more vinegary soy sauce) but today I felt like trying out this sweet soy sauce and it was great! There was plenty of sauce that all the toppings and noodles got a good covering, and the topping themselves were tasty too (seasoned beansprouts, chicken chashuu, cucumber, pickled ginger, and marinated egg-my fave!). Note that cold ramen doesn't come with a soup, it's more of a sauce to mix in, so it's seasoned but not sitting in a soup- perfect for hot days. I had a bite of my boyfriend's mazesoba and it was alright, a bit spicier than I expected. I must admit I was a bit preoccupied with my own food! The only downside is that the prices are a bit on the higher end for what you get, but it may also be because I ordered takeout via an app. All in all a pretty good meal and I'd love to try the usual ramen too once it's a little bit cooler! read more

The service was good, there were a few misunderstanding but the staff was accommodating. Food was great and was very fulfilling. There were a few things that could've been done to make it better like the amount of broth, I felt it lacked on how much was in my bowl so I order more broth. The ramen doesn't come with an egg, additional cost. The location is right by the mall, it's clean only thing is you share tables and are divided by a clear binder read more
My wife and I finally found an opportunity to try out Zubu. We were greeted and seated with happy staff who made sure we followed the covid protocols by registering ourselves through their online portal using a QR code. The early evening rush had the restaurant about 50% full and dividers and such were in place to make everyone safe and sound. My wife chose the Tonkotsu Aka with mixed chashu which is their spicier option with five levels of heat available for the courageous. She chose the "spicy" level based on the recommendation of our server. As a garlic lover, I chose the Tonkatsu Kuro with fatty chashu which includes garlic chips and black garlic oil. I also ordered a seasoned egg, since the bowls don't include them on their own. The ramen noodles were good. Springy with a good chew and the portion was enough to considered it a solid meal. The broth was a mixed bag. While the Aka's spicy broth was very good, I'd recommend choosing their "hot" level instead of "spicy" if you were looking for something that would release some endorphins. The broth for the Kuro was disappointing. While it did have some garlic flavour, it didn't have enough meat flavour. In fact, I'd say it was a bit bland. I was also disappointed at the cost of the bowls since they didn't come with a seasoned egg or bamboo shoots and could only be added for an additional cost. Overall, I'd say the experience was pretty good. However, I hope they'd reconsider adding half an egg to each bowl or reduce the cost of the additional toppings. read more

2/5 is a fair rating for a dine-in experience. We had to wait 10-15 for a table despite the seat being empty the entire time and it was when they first opened the doors for lunch. Upon arrival, they make you scan your phone to download the online menu and fill a questionnaire to ensure you don't have any covid symptoms. The tables outside were evenly spaced out to maintain social distancing. All the staff wore masks and always maintain distance by placing the food at least one table away from you. Staff was okay. They weren't bad, but the service was also not amazing. I don't believe they even checked up on us once or brought me the ice water I asked for. I understand it's covid, so they may shy away from talking to customers, but then don't prompt customers to give a 25% tip on the machine as the first option. It's a personal pet peeve of mine because I think it's highly misleading. Also, the fact that the three staff we saw wasn't Japanese kind of threw off the authentic experience for us. The food itself for the cost was also underwhelming with tiny portions. Frankly, the picture looks better than the taste. I don't think I would be returning. There are far better other ramen places around. read more

My friend and I had Zubu Ramen two weeks ago. The restaurant is nearby Metrotown Walmart. The location is easy to find and parking the car. Our experience was OK. We had Calamari (calamari, broccoli, cauliflower, dill, red onion, spicy mayonnaise, tzatziki sauce) and Takoyaki (5pc takoyaki battered octopus, egg tartar, okonomi sauce, mayonnaise, dried bonito flakes, green onion, shredded nori seaweed) to share. The appetizers are very tasty. But, they were a little bit experience around $8 or $9. We both ordered $16.5 ZUBU ZUBU ramen. *Choice of pork chashu: Fatty or Lean pork broth, fish powder, thick noodle, pork chashu, kikurage, bean sprouts, white onion, green onion, garlic, chili powder. The noodles are OK. The soup is too salty for us. The food is in large portions, which is good. But, they are not really worth the prices. read more
Zubu is always consistent. The vegan ramen is very good, and I have gotten it a few times when I'm in the area. The location is conveniently located near Metrotown mall. I really like the soup they use, and never fail to finish it. What I do wish is that they gave you more tofu. I feel like the portions are a bit stingy. read more

Was out at Metrotown finishing my Holiday shopping and grabbing some groceries. Decided to get take out and have been meaning to try Zubu, after it took over Jinya's location. I ordered the poke bowl as it had a mix of everything and did a pick up to go. Poke bowl cost $15.50 plus tax and tip and boy was I disappointed in the quantity of food given. As you can see, the height of food barely makes it halfway to the take out bowl so it was a light portion. There was a small portion of the seaweed salad, some salmon pieces (maybe 6 at most), some tuna pieces, and some baby scallops. The menu advertises Tobiko and clearly there are none in my bowl, except for it mixed in my scallop (scallop was served with a mayo Tobiko dressing). Even the amount of sushi rice and salad wasn't much, and that's the cheapest ingredients of the entire rice bowl. Was not even half full after eating it and wished I went to Pokerrito to get a FULL sized bowl, that I can barely finish, for under $13 plus tax and tip. My take out experience is night and day from the poke bowl pictured from eating in. Poke bowl tasted fine but the quantity definitely wasn't there and felt ripped off. Never again. read more

Should've posted this sooner but this past Saturday I had such a stellar experience at ZUBU that I had to Yelp it. I am super happy with the food, the decor, but above all the service and charm of the place. I wish I lived closer and could be a more regular visitor. Shoutout to Jessica who made me feel especially comfortable and welcome throughout my dining experience. I ordered the chicken ramen special and the yuzu cream cocktail. It was yes. The bartender did a fantastic job and was also friendly I should've gotten his name too! If you're on the fence, do go here. It's nice :) read more

This is a ramen place that took over what was once Jinya. Once you enter the doors, you scan a QR code where you fill up a form, I'm assuming due to the pandemic. Then sanitize your hands & you're directed & walked over to a table. The tables are separated by plexi glass. The menu is also via QR code. Honestly, there wasn't much of a selection for ramen,I wish there was more, but it was still good. It was a cozy & clean place. It is an open kitchen, so you can see all of them hard at work to feed our hungry stomachs! Haha. The staff are all friendly & approachable, so rest assured, you are in good hands. I chose a combo, so I could try a bit of everything. The food was good & filling. Once you have paid for everything, there is a one way exit through the side doors going towards the patio. Overall, for a first time visit, it was an OK experience for me. Nothing special or exciting. read more
We had ramen and poke bowl here. Ramen is amazing - the broth is rich and delicious, definitely one of the best in town. Poke is a bit disappointing, you don't get to pick and choose any topping or sauce and the combination they have is not something I like. I found it boring and lack of flavor. We also tried takoyaki which came with cheese (or maybe it's egg white?) on the top- yummy! read more
This used to be a Jinya chain restaurant, before the franchise owner of several Jinyas decided to spin off and create their own ramen restaurant - Zubu. That's the best explanation I got. We ordered several appetizers including crispy chicken, takoyaki, tempura Brussels sprouts, and Gyozas. For our mains we ordered unagi hand roll, tonkotsu zubu ramen, and pork chashu bowl. Food was solid, good flavour combos. Executed with care. Although their crispy chicken can use more marinade. Their takoyaki can also use some improvement on the batter. The hand rolls were not worth it as they are quite pricey for what you get. The rice bowls and ramen were excellent. Lots of toppings and have good flavour. Servers were attentive and food was served in a speedy manner. Overall not a bad choice for quick ramen fix. read more
Munch, crunch, slurpp - just as the name says! What a quaint little restaurant with lovely fusion menu. I went in for a quick dinner with a year old son and was promptly seated. Staff was so very welcoming and they made extra sure my baby was comfortable as well. Staff was quick to take my order since I indicated I knew what I wanted at the time of being seated itself, citing baby has limited patience with sitting in a high chair. The front desk staff who sat me immediately took my order herself , she did not waste a minute getting an actual wait staff to get my order. Now that is what I call is excellent customer service - going above and beyond, even though it was not her duty to take my order. As a mom of an active baby, I truly appreciate saving of those precious minutes while dining outside. I got the Salmon sushi tacos and the Pork Gyozas - food was delish through and through. Loved every bite of it. Best of all, they are not super expensive to dine with unlike other outlets in this area, so nice to have a decent bill for a good dinner. Will be back soon for sure! read more

Like what the hell is this sad thing?! Is this what a 10$ calamari is supposed to be like?! I'd rather have the food court calamari if I knew this is what I was going to get. If you ran out of it have the decency to call and cancel it instead of shamelessly packing this for takeaway. read more
Dined here during covid. They have plexiglass up at every bar table and communal table but did not separate guests (I guess the plexiglass is their excuse to have full capacity). If you are uncomfortable with this, I advise you not to dine in at all. Tried 2 of their ramens - the tonkotsu kuro and tonkotsu shiro. The kuro is saltier with bolder garlic flavour and the shiro is lighter. I am not a fan of their thin noodles (not thin enough) and it's my personal pet peeve to pay additional $2 for a ramen egg. Broth is decent and portion size is above average. The char siu is not bad either. Overall, a decent bowl of ramen. We also ordered a baby scallop temaki (handroll). They present it in the trendy way now where it's not a cone. Personally this is not the best design because stuff spills out on the opposite end when you just roll it like that. Pretty average hand roll. Dessert we tried the london fog cotta - very light and refreshing. Good to share with 2 people. The zubu zubu ramen was acceptable, but the chicken ramen was greasy and bland. Portion was super small, was the size of small cup noodles at over $14, such a rip off. Fried shrimp gyoza was soggy and barely had shrimp in it. Fried chicken tasted alright tho. The dipping sauce portion for the gyoza and fried chicken was just ridiculous (attached pics). Would not recommend read more

ROUND TWO! went back to see our favourite server karina she gave us amazing sake recommendations. This time we went on a Wednesday, Which is half off sake. I am obsessed with the Asian pear and umiblu!!! We also ordered an insane amount of food: Truffle wonton ramen: this is a seasonal item, it is a must order!! Ikura and blue crab temaki: these were good but too much rice to seafood ratio Bara chirashi: omg another seasonal item, but good! I would say it's a must order but if you like chirashi bowls it's a good one. Lettuce wraps: these were really good as well! Again not a must order, but I'd recommend for sure. Negitoro dip: really good. More of a western fusion, but still good. Shishito peppers: I was super disappointed, because I love shishito peppers. I wouldn't order again. Cheesecake: I think if you love cheesecake it's a good option. They torch it right in front of you so it's super fun! I'm not a cheesecake person so I wouldn't order again, but I liked the experience! read more

Having a hot spicy bowl of Zubu ramen in a cold summer night is so perfect. The broth is so rich and creamy. No fatty at all. I choose spicy but tbh it is way spicier than I think. Should go mild next time. Patio is nice with heater light. Our waitress - Ruth is really really friendly. All of these experience will sure make us want to come back again. And guess what? Dessert is on the house - mochi ice cream. read more

I'd come back to try ZUBU's other vegan items but for this first visit I just had their Creamy Spicy Vegan Ramen. I added extra broccoli and extra fresh garlic. I definitely missed Jinya's version of this. It was tasty but a bit one dimensional and not as robust in flavour or fillings as Jinya. When I add extras at Jinya I get a lot more but here I got very little. Jinya also just came with more fillings by default, like more tofu, tons of onions or spinach or kikurage. Service was attentive. They take precaution for the pandemic better than many restaurants--I had a half an hour wait even though their large indoor space was nearly empty. read more
Tried the cheesecake and it was not for me like the flavour didn't meet. The ramen was okay overally and the service was okay. There was no lineup when I went there. Something that I really like is the pork on the ramen since it was super good. Not gonna lie but the pork is best in town for ramen. They have three kind of broth, but I personally love the fish and pork broth compared with the other two. Zubu has a wide choice for food as well so definitely I would come back to try the different menu they can offer. Would recommend to try! read more

Ramen was good, soup not very rich though. The gross sauce is average and a bit too much soy sauce read more

Found my new favourite vegan ramen place! My partner isn't a vegan and he loved it as well but even said he would order the vegan one too next time. I really liked the Kale noodles it came with and felt a bit more healthy! I ordered garlic and broccoli on the side as well which was a great recommendation. I'll be back for sure soon read more

Convenient location at walking distance to bus stops, skytrain station, and parking lots if you drive. This same spot used to be another ramen place called Jinya. I was a bit skepticism at first and didn't go in to try until a year after I decided to give it a shot. Wasn't disappointed at all. Very friendly staff and we didn't wait too long. Parties of 3 or above sometimes need to wait a bit longer. Prices are a bit on the higher side but it's still reasonable. Not as many options as Jinya but still a good quite of different items that you can choose from. Plating is simple but nice and look appetizing. The decor is modern and pretty. The portion for me is slightly small but that's because I eat a lot. For many people, Zubu's ramen portion is the perfect size. If you do eat more, you can always order a refill of ramen. There drinks are cute and not too strong but not watered down, although, personally I wish they could have an option of adding an extra shot to their cocktails for someone who need something even stronger. Definitely a place I'd go back to! read more
