This was my first trip to "Carolina Girls", and while I had read what I could find about the food,…read moreservice and ambiance, I hope to improve upon reporting so others will have an easier time. First, I will say that the food was good! I have to admit that it was not what I expected, but here is what I found. I ordered a combination of shrimp and flounder, with fries and green beans as sides. See the photo of shrimp and flounder, with fries and green beans! Shrimp were small, about 50ct I estimate. They were lightly battered and very tasty. I expected larger shrimp, but given the light batter and excellent taste, I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp. The flounder was also lightly battered, and perfectly cooked. It was excellent. Fries are fries, and these were OK. But the real big surprise were the green beans! They were likely the best I've ever had. That leaves hush puppies, and their spread. The hush puppies could have been very good, but were served at just above room temperature. The spread was a butter substitute that was indeed sad. Here is my Professional Tip: Prepare and proudly present your own hush puppy spread. Make it by simply blending real butter and real honey and serve it in reusable stainless steel 2-oz containers. It would be unique, cost minimal, and set the pace for ambiance enhancement. Service was good, but they allowed kitchen staff to sit in the serving area and converse with customers. A little too "homey" for me. Lastly, in regard to ambiance they seem to be finding their "sea legs", as decorations did enhance the feeling of a seafood restaurant. Small improvements could be in changing ceiling light bulbs to a warmer 2700 Kelvin color range, and adding disposable place mats with three utensils, better napkins, and new condiment bottles. I know some may think of these suggestions as nit-picky, but please trust that I want this place to excel.

Rural vibes with locals hanging out for lunch. The friendly staff was fast and checked in on us…read morefrequently. Food is simple country cooking. Perhaps like grandma would make at home if your grandma lived at your house and would make a full menu of items for you whenever you wanted it! I ordered the fried chicken, sweet potato fries, and cabbage. It came with hushpuppies. I should note that I don't like most restaurant hushpuppies. These were light, crisp on the outside, and lightly sweet. These were worth eating. My chicken was good with a crunchy exterior but moist meat. The only thing I did not like (nor did my wife) was the ranch dressing. We like ranch on sweet potato fries, theirs were little containers of shelf-temperature dressing, not the good garlicky and buttermilk ranch I crave from many restaurants. I think this was Tom's brand. They were not worth eating. We did not have a desert but the brownies at the counter looked pretty good. Prices were low and our lunch and drinks with a tip was just under $30.00

The service was amazing, gave good recommendations on food choices. Super quick, very kind. Service was amazing. To the food, well, everything seemed quickly put together. Maybe it's just today but the food didn't seem to have much effort put into it. The slaw is mayo based but lacked flavor, hush puppies were pretty good. The other nuggets in the corner were corn nugs! How cool is that.... they were a good combo of batter and corn, sweet and sassy. The chicken is what you would expect at a family gathering at ma maws but could tell it wasn't freshly cooked but hey, it's a Wednesday night. If you're in the area and miss a home town feel PLEASE stop in! Until next time!

The food is ok, the service is great and the location is almost perfect…read more This is a pool deck and stage area, lots of cement and terraced levels fenced off from the pool but this also blocks the ocean and beach views. All the cement makes it a bit loud but also hot because it soaks in the heat and radiates it back out all day. This is fine in the cooler months or if you have pool access as a guest. There is an inside dining room too but why use that when its so much nicer outside? The food was good, not great, and like most tourist areas a bit over priced for the quality. I'm not saying it wan't good because everything we tried we liked. Only it was nothing to get too excited about for the higher prices. Honestly you're paying for the view and the nice outdoor seating. Note: The closer parking lots are for condo/hotel guests only and they will tow you away. If you're just coming to the restaurant you must park across the street. When we went there was plenty of of available parking but it was a very hot day in the high 90s and high humidity so by the time I parked and walked over I was already sweaty and uncomfortable. On a normal day it would be no big deal for me, but if your with people who cannot climb a steep driveway or do a long walk then I would drop them off at the front door and then go park.
