My new favorite Mexican restaurant! First, it's not just tacos, although there are many taco options. I had the Texas-style fajitas, and they were great. So many Mexican restaurants that offer fajitas don't season or cook them properly, use inferior meat, or overcook the meat while undercooking the vegetables. I found the rice a bit dry and have had better Mexican-style rice at other places, but I don't always eat it, so that did not bother me too much. The decore is LA street art with murals, stylized tagging, and graffiti-style artwork. Even the restrooms are decorated. read more

Food was really good, very flavorful! I got the california burrito and the fam got ACP. Chips were very crispy, salsa was watery and queso was on point. For food, this place is awesome. The service was weird, there was an argument between employees up front, idk it was a strange moment. The vibe of the place is not for groups and not really a standard theme. The overall feel of the place minus the flies and small dining room was good. If you want a quick meal or after date dinner this is a spot. My craving for chips and salsa El Cerro Tacos Such a cute spot with great food! We had wonderful service, great chips and salsa, and all of the food was so good! Also the prices were SUPER reasonable, especially on their lunch menu! I got the California burrito (not a lunch special), and it was delicious and so filling! My friends tried the fajitas and quesadillas and both said they were great! I was also able to get some beans for my baby to much on and by the mess on her face, I think it's safe to say she approved! Definitely will be returning:) read more

Kind of disappointed. They have increased their prices by nearly 35%. A taco was 3.75 and is now 5.00. EACH. You don't get to pour your own salsa anymore and it's poured for you instead. It's been a while since we've stopped by here to enjoy this place and decided to give it try this weekend. Unfortunately, it was a bit a of a let down. From the service to the food, everything was just pretty disappointing. The service seemed rushed, and we felt somewhat dismissed. One of the members of our party didn't receive their food until we were all done because they forgot to put their meal in. The salsa that comes with the chips tasted old, one of the guests at our table compared it to "mop water smell." Everything seemed rushed, from the food, to the service to everything. The drinks were off putting, the food was disappointing and the service was subpar. We will remain hopeful and will put this off as a dip in their quality of food and service and hope they come back to the top. We won't be going back for a while in hopes to see them improve. read more

This place had great reviews so we decided to give it a shot! I usually don't factor price into a rating (you can always check the prices online before you come in and not go if it's too expensive) but across the board this place was pretty expensive for being a Mexican restaurant in a city full of pretty good Mexican places. Most aggregious was the $8.50 large Modelo. Margaritas were also pretty expensive but at least they were a little larger. Most plates ran $15+ and the lunch portions were still $9. May actually be cheaper to get stuff alacarte than get a plate to be honest. The main reason I'd probably go elsewhere next time I'm in the mood for Mexican. Moving past price, this place had real style -- the menus looked great and matched the interior decor. Artwork throughout was great and they had a hip vibe that didn't try too hard. Music was good, but it was too loud (to the point that it made conversation difficult) and upset one of my kids. Kid needs to get over it but that was how loud it was, if you are sensitive to loud noise order to go! Food was really good. Wife isn't a fan of Mexican food but she really liked the fish tacos she ordered. Kids enjoyed the chicken taco and the cheese quesadilla, both with rice. I thought the refried beans tasted pretty plain compared to other replaces I've been when I sampled my kid's refried beans. I ordered the A.C.P. - chicken strips with a rich cheese sauce and rice. I've had a similar dish before and loved it but the cheese sauce was a little too salty and rich by the end. Though the salsa and queso dip we ordered was really thin and watery. Overall food quality was very good though. Wait staff was decent, no drawbacks but not a standout. Solid 4 out of 5 stars, give it a shot. read more

It has been a year since my first time here and I must say that of all of the Mexican food establishments in Jacksonville. This is my favorite. I eat her probably once a week. The fact that they know my order they always are smiling. They're always friendly. You just don't get that in Jacksonville that often so just on the customer service alone this is my favorite place. now, I have eaten several things off the menu since my original review and I will tell you that the fries are probably one of the most delicious things and I try not to order them every single time but it's hard not to because they're just a party in your mouth. The California burrito is my go to I ordered every single time. The servers know that's my order and it's so good and it's huge. I usually don't eat the whole thing I eat half take the other half with me. Carne Asada is amazing. The homemade tortillas are so good queso is probably the best queso I've ever had in my life. I wanted some good tacos. My wife and I arrived and had I nice table in view of the TV. One thing that I liked about the booth seats was that you don't sink into them. The seats were very comfortable to me. The chips and salsa was very good. The chips were warm and salsa was cold and fresh tasting. We also ordered the cheese dip but I thought it was too thin for my preference. My wife liked it because there were not additives like jalapeños in the cheese dip. About the tacos, the menu has several selections of tacos. There are shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, and more to choose from. We ordered four shredded chicken and four cheese and bean tacos. A fair warning about the Guacamole having a recipe containing some type of hot pepper in it. My wife is super sensitive to spicy foods and the guacamole got the best of her. We ordered some more chicken tacos without the guacamole for her no problem. I may have been starving but I thought these tacos were the very best tacos that I have had. They were made with a toasted corn tortilla and each one is assembled with perfection. I may have missed it but I don't think there were any tacos with those hard shells. This place is a must for a taco fix. The service was prompt and pleasant. I need to make this my weekly taco destination. read more

We arrived 6:00 pm on a Friday night and even though the place was full we were seated in the bar area right away. We were served our drinks almost immediately and our food order was taken by a pleasant bartender. The music was kicking (although a bit loud). Our party all ordered different taco offerings, and the food arrived very timely. Everything tasted delicious and there were plenty of chips and salsa for everyone. So I've been wanting to try this place for away. I don't go to Jacksonville often but when I do I like to try new things or places I've heard about. This place did not disappoint. As a native Californian I always am a bit cautious when it comes to Mexican food. This place was awesome. Not only was the food great but the owner was really nice and told me a bit about the restaurant and his story. The diablo salsa paired great with my carne asada tacos and the rice tasted like my family back home made it. I also had the horchata, it was the perfect amount of sweet and definitely was finished before I left the restaurant. I decided to give this place a second chance after a first bad experience. My husbands food was wrong and took our waitress 20 min just to come back so he could request to have it fixed. My burrito which was supposed to have chicken in it, had literally two pieces and the rest was all rice, then after eating my rice burrito, there was a man's hair. I am so grossed out. Like so flippen grossed, we will not be back! The service was awful and the food followed! The n, when the bill came we were double charged for my husbands order and the redo order. The waitresss was like oh my manager has to fix this, as if she knew it was on there but too busy to request it. I am so unhappy and the food and service was so gross and a total waste of money. Well this was my first time there and it was a pickup order, cause I just wanted to eat in peace and quiet in my home. My meal was two chicken tacos and rice. Not a hard order but the food was just not great. The service person was in a hurry. To take my order. Which didn't make my day. Also on their menu it's say they have Flan. It Carmel's dessert. Well they didn't but still keep on their menu? I rather pay a bit more and go to where they want me to come back. A server didn't come to our table to greet us for 10 minutes. Our server didn't seem to be in a good mood at all. Our food wasn't that great. I hope next time you will follow up with the customer and let us know it will take longer than expected. That's a long wait.... Do better Marian. Food was soggy and messy. One of the tacos was empty...carne Asada fries was undercooked. poor execution overall. 3 year old restaurant has some growing pains. Hope they will get better as they grow.
