I tried Zoox out here in Las Vegas and didn't really know what to expect, but it ended up being a really awesome experience. Thanks sis. You do have to download the app first, but it's super simple and easy to use. And honestly, if you've used Uber or Lyft, it'll feel very familiar. Booking was quick and the whole process was super easy. The ride itself is smooth and way more comfortable than I expected. Acceleration is actually pretty quick too, but still feels controlled. Honestly, the best part is just sitting back and taking it all in. No driver, just cruising around Vegas... kinda wild in my view. And the fact that it's free right now, makes it a no-brainer to try. I highly recommend when visiting Vegas. Overall, just a fun experience and something totally different. I'd definitely invest in this new technology as the future is here. All aboard.

Note you get sent after your ride.

First, know that you MUST have the app on your phone or you're going nowhere. You will need to enter information about yourself and add payment method. like you do when you sign up for any ride share app. Then you request a genuine ride. I took the Zook from Resorts World to NY NY Hotel and Casino as it is their longest route. You can follow the time until your Zoox arrives by looking at the app. Since there are several, you are shown the license plate number on your app. When the Zoox arrived, you open the doors with your app. After being seated, if necessary, there will be an announcement that all seat belts had to be fastened before going anywhere. Then off you go. Like smart locals, the units use back streets. They do not go on the Strip. I went Sammy Davis Jr. Drive, then a left at Frank Sinatra, and finally, a left into the T-Mobile Arena area and past the Toshiba Plaza. Since I requested my first ride at 11 AM, the time they start operating daily, there was a longer wait than when the units were out and making pick ups and drop offs. It is interesting to see how well they can navigate traffic especially busy at NY NY's porte-cochère. After a Starbucks in NY NY, I went outside and requested a unit to go back to Resorts World. I would recommewnd if you are going to try this out, too, that you start from RW. There is a booth there and two workers, one a lovely, very helpful young lady! Currently, there is no charge during this opening phase. Las Vegas, you always set my soul on fire! Remember--GET the app!

UM YES! I finally was able to take a Zoox ride as they have opened up the entire Vegas district (no longer just point to point) and had a ball. The app often says "try again later" as I think demand is higher than the supply of zoox. I love that you can play your own music, sit back and relax, and I found all 5 of my rides comfortable, smooth, and felt safe. It's very smooth and feels like a party every ride. I didn't want it to end. I did pick-ups and drops at MGM Grand in the main Uber pick up area, Aria, and Mandalay Bay - all without any issues. The app experience is almost identical to Uber and I found it very easy to get into my first ride.

When my friend suggested riding in a "self-driving toaster", I thought he was kidding. Once I realized that he was serious, I became intrigued. I've never ridden in an autonomous vehicle and figured Vegas would be a perfect place to try it out. Zoox is a subsidiary of Amazon. They describe their vehicles as robo taxis. In order to ride, you have to download the app. Rides are currently free as they are still in the testing phase. We waited about 20 minutes for the Zoox to pick us up. Unlike a typical taxi, they only have a few designated pick up/drop off spots around the Strip. We opted to get picked up at Nordstrom (Fashion Show Mall), and dropped off at Top Golf. Once we were dropped off, we had about a 15 minute walk to our destination. In addition to the limited stops, they do not currently offer rides 24/7. At the time of our ride (February 2026), we were able to request a ride until 1 am. The vehicle seats 4. Each seat has a touch screen where you can control the temperature and music. The screen shows you how long you have before you arrive at the destination. I didn't realize it, but there's a wireless charging pad near the cupholders. The car had a cool ambiance. Since we rode at night, the interior had a starry night feel. There are two mini moon roofs that literally look like a toaster. The seats were comfortable enough for a short ride. Each seat has seat belts and the vehicles does have airbags. I felt pretty safe during the ride. Zoox is currently operating in Las Vegas and they're about to roll out in San Francisco. The website mentions that they will be bringing their vehicles to Austin and Miami too (not sure when). It was nice to not have to make small talk with a driver. Though it's currently limited, it's a unique option if you're on the Strip. It was a fun and interesting experience and I would ride one again (especially while they're still free).

Music and temperature for your comfort.

WHAT IS ZOOX AND WHY DID I TRY IT? Zoox operates in limited locations and is one of Amazon's fully driverless vehicle initiatives in Las Vegas. I booked the ride primarily for the experience and, secondarily, because I have teenagers who think this technology is fascinating. HOW DOES ZOOX WORK? You download the Zoox app, schedule your ride, and add a credit card. During this early phase, rides were free, even though a card was required. Ride wait time can last up to 45 minutes, but service is limited to about five Las Vegas hotels. I stayed at the New York-New York. Be aware that pickup locations are at the front of hotels, not always where Uber picks up, even if the drop-off location looks similar. Everything runs through the app, which worked smoothly and provided arrival updates and a live travel map. The app worked great. HOW SAFE AND COMFORTABLE DID THE RIDE FEEL? From a safety and comfort perspective, I had mixed feelings. I'm a Class B driver so a driverless car is not more safe than having class B driving experience. During the ride, another vehicle came close to sideswiping us. Zoox did move out of the way, but not as quickly as I would have expected. I could not tell whether the delay was due to sensor interpretation, or system decision-making, or whoever is controlling it at the "secretive station". As a passenger, the hesitation increased my anxiety. The situation resolved safely, but it did not inspire confidence. WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST SAFETY CONCERNS? One critical concern for me is that the vehicle does not have a horn. As a Class B driver, I consider a horn a fundamental safety tool. It is often the fastest way to communicate with other drivers and prevent near-miss situations. The absence of a horn alone would make me cautious about riding again, and it is the primary reason I would not support widespread adoption at this stage, unless you have stock. HOW DID IT FEEL AS A PASSENGER OVERALL? The ride was smooth, seating spacious. While it was a short trip (2 miles) my anxiety was manageable, I would not choose this option for longer distances. The experience felt more like a controlled experiment than everyday transportation. WHAT FEATURES STOOD OUT IN A POSITIVE WAY? *Fully driverless design with no steering wheel or pedals, which is striking to see in motion. *Spacious, symmetrical interior that allows passengers to sit facing each other comfortably. *Smooth acceleration and braking overall, especially in normal traffic flow. *Stopped completely at all stop signs and lights. *Large windows and a clean, modern cabin design that feels intentionally built for passengers, not retrofitted. *Tinted windows. *Music & sound was good. *Inside mood lighting. *On-screen ride information that helps passengers understand what the vehicle is doing during the trip. WOULD I RIDE ZOOX AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT? I am glad I tried Zoox for the experience, and I understand why teenagers and tech enthusiasts find it exciting. However, from a professional driving and safety perspective, I would approach it with caution. Until basic safety signaling, such as a horn, and more predictive responsiveness are addressed, this is not a service I would personally endorse for regular use. BTW, Zoox is safer than some human drivers, smh. "The Jetsons era is here. But on land "

Had a chance to try out the zook autonomous ride while we were in Vegas. For the rollout, all of the rides are currently free. To use, you download the app and do a simple registration, no CC required yet. There are only a few stops so far( Luxor, New York, New York, Area15, Resorts World, and AYU Dayclub). So your only options are to go between these locations at this time. The ride is a unique breadbox shaped vehicle. It's not a car, but a pod which seats 4 comfortably with ample space for some luggage. The seats are bore like sitting on a bus, than the more laid back chairs in a car. In addition there are controls for temperature, and music controls. The windows are smoked and hard to see outside at nighttime. The ride was smooth, and uncannily accurate almost amazing. I felt that the car drove fast as well, so you are really putting your trust into the technology so to speak. Looking forward to the updates and expansion of this new transportation and how it will affect the current landscape in Vegas.

Currently no charge because it's in testing stages. I've taken it twice. First time from Resorts World with 0 wait time & second time from Nordstrom's with about a 1/2 hour wait. Both experiences were flawless. You can change the music to whatever you please & even charge your phone. At night the interior roof lights up. Download the app & give it a try....especially while it's free!

It was cool. Self driving "cabs". The wait was long... like excessively long. But it was also free so there's that. I liked the buggy and the concept the missing star was purely on the wait time

Since we were staying at the Luxor, we had to try the Zoox robotaxi. Before our visit, I downloaded the app. During the testing phase it is free and only goes to a few locations. Pretty handy and a little more like a theme park ride since there is no steering wheel. Order the ride but you only get the wait time after you book it. Open the doors via the app then you do everything via the touchscreens - close the doors, start the ride, control the type of music, control temperature and finish the ride. My only beef is that the wait times on a busy weekend are not known until you book it. Otherwise, it is a great ride.

This is mind blowing and futuristic.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are technologically in the 22nd century, after experiencing Zoox. Zoox is affiliated with Amazon and it consists of DRIVERLESS.....yes, D.R.I.V.E.R.L.E.S.S....vehicles that are constantly zipping around the Las Vegas Strip. Zoox Las Vegas is in a beta program and is offering "FREE" daily rides, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. After downloading the Zoox application, you'll be able to schedule rides throughout selected sites throughout the Strip. Once the Zoox arrives, you'll be able to open the doors through the app. Once inside, you'll see seating for a maximum of four riders. The vehicle will not move until every occupant is seated and seat belted. Once the ride starts, you'll be able to control the music and the environment. The rides are smooth, the music is enjoyable, and the vehicles moved a lot faster than I expected. If you ever require help at any time, you could speak to a staff member. So, assistance is always available. Zoox will be rolling out programs in Austin, Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., soon. When you use Zoox, try to ride it during the day and the evening. It is two different experiences that will leave you in awe and wanting more.

Console image during the ride giving no way to stop the ride and exit at the nearest road side.

Was fun riding around. We did two rides. A ride from Vdara to New York New York hotel and back. Ride to was smooth. Ride back we realized it was uncomfortable when it went over speed bumps because the head rests were solid not cushioning. Also concern about not being able to stop the ride. The biggest thing was the wait times. It was ridiculous long of 17 minutes wait for each time we waited for a ride and that doesn't even include waiting with the app open for it to give you a ride. It drove safely though and obviously these roads are very safe and low speed.

    The ride!

I saw these running across the street from the Trump Resort. Google search found Zoox. Download the app, be in range of a pickup spot & request ride. Follow the online map for your ride, with timely arrival. After it parks, you approach the vehicle and it recognizes your phone, it says hit button to open door. The interior is huge - 4 plus size passengers would be no problem. Once seated it informs you to fasten safety belts. Once done, push button to close door, push button to start ride. The Luxor ride was 12 minutes, Resort World 6 minutes. We rode to the casinos daily enjoying the free trial period. I would pay for this anytime. Better than Disney E ticket ride. Air conditioning adjustable, music channels available, and at night the ceiling has stars!!! Huge fan of the robot car.

They said under 8 yrs can't ride but it's not true. Double standards

Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct and Overcharging…read more I sincerely hope this remains the most unpleasant experience of my entire trip. As I don't live in Vegas, the general quality of taxi services in Las Vegas doesn't personally affect my daily life. However, I felt a strong obligation to report this incident to your headquarters. I gain nothing from doing this, but I am taking time out of my busy schedule because I believe this behavior is unacceptable. Incident Details: * Route: Flamingo Hotel to Gold Coast Hotel * Estimated Fare (Rideshare): Approximately $12-$14 on Lyft. At the Uber pickup area, I encountered a taxi. The driver was an Indian woman wearing a long dress and a hijab. Since the taxi was right there and the driver ask me where I go to, I asked for the fare to the Gold Coast Hotel. After making a quick phone call to someone, she initially quoted me $20. When I declined, she consulted further with the person on the phone and changed the price to $12. Since this matched the rideshare price and the car was already there, I decided to take it. She assured me she would run the meter. As I got in, she seemed visibly--almost overly--excited to have secured a passenger. Issues During the Trip: * Intentional Detour: I had checked Google Maps several times and knew the route was essentially a straight line. However, as soon as we started, she took a completely different direction. * Distracted Driving: She remained on a speakerphone call in her native language for a significant portion of the trip. When I asked if we were going the right way, she insisted we were, but then--incredibly--asked me where I was going. * Lack of Navigation: She handed me her phone and told me to type in the destination myself. Only then did she start using navigation, even though we were already headed in the wrong direction. * Overcharging: Due to the massive detour, the fare came out to $24.38. I ended up "touring" New York-New York and MGM Grand and even took a photo of the Golden Lion statue out of sheer disbelief. Unprofessional Interaction: When I pointed out that Uber had quoted $12, she sarcastically replied, "If Uber was $12, Why don't you take uber?" I repeated. "Why don't you take uber?" I reminded her that she was the one who lowered her initial quote from $20 to $12 to get me to join. She then started making excuses about fluctuating Uber prices and road construction. I originally intended to pay exactly $12 in cash and leave, but assuming she was a salaried employee, I decided to pay by card. I left zero tip, as I felt I was the one who deserved compensation for the wasted time and stress. With the rise of Uber and Lyft, taxi revenues are surely declining. If this is how your drivers treat passengers, no one will want to use your service. I believe it is vital for the company to know that you have drivers representing you in this manner. I felt like I was in India.
