Dog Town NY - This is what he looked like after the hatchet job

Let me start by saying that I NEVER leave reviews, but I feel I have not choice but to share so…read morethat others avoid this issue. We booked our golden doodle for a groom. I gave very specific instructions including a picture of what he should look like. He has a beautiful shiny coat, and we have had him groomed quite frequently over the past 3 years. When I went to pick him up with my mom I knew we were in trouble when my mom let out an audible gasp when she saw him. He literally looked like he had been electrocuted, or like a caricature of what a mutt in an alley would look like. His tail was chopped so short it looked like a rope toy, and there were tufts of uneven fur everywhere. The groomer asked if there was anything she wanted us to "clean up" but there was zero chance she was ever touching my dog again. I left and took him home at which point my wife was near tears upon seeing him. I called and asked for a manager, and got a call back FROM THE SAME GROOMER. So that was awkward! I explained I needed a manager, and eventually the owner called me back. He was very apologetic and said this had never happened before. He said that he could have another groomer try and "fix it", but only at their Calverton location, which is 45 minutes from my house. He refused to offer any help at the location in Southold. I took him to Calverton today. The groomer there was very professional, but immediately told me that she was not a "miracle worker" and there was only so much she could do to fix this "hatchet job". She also said she had to fix 3-4 dogs from this other groomer just this week! She did a professional job, and did the best she could, but in order to do that, she had to go really short to even out the places where he had basically been shaved down. My dogs hair is now 3x shorter than it ever has been before, to the point where I don't even recognize him. I called the owner back, and explained that I should not have had to pay for this service, as the other groomer admitted it was not a professional job, and that she had cleaned up multiple other dogs done by this first groomer. Additionally, I had to devote three hours of my day to getting this fixed. The owner said the best he could do was a 25% discount off of a future grooming, which I find laughable given this experience. I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERYONE AVOID THIS PLACE FOR GROOMING AT ALL COSTS!!!

We moved to the a North Fork full time in August 2019. I was a little nervous because our Shamrock…read morewas so used to his previous daycare and we hoped to find someplace he liked. We found Dogtown and was very comfortable from the first day we brought Shamrock for daycare. We also boarded him overnight when I had surgery. We bring him at least twice a week and Shamrock loves going, has a wonderful time and comes home happy. We also started using Heather for Grooming. Love his haircuts! Chris and the whole staff are wonderful!

One my favorite spots of 2026! I wish yelp would allow…read morefractions of stars as i would rate this 4.75. Beautiful dining space tucked behind a street front bar entrance. Contemporary wood paneled room with a window wall overlooking the river below. Expertly made martinis followed by watermelon beet and feta salad; and wild mushrooms with Parmesan bread crumbs, mint, fried rosemary and whipped ricotta. Both were very tasty expressions of the season. Our table raved over the tagliarini with a local beef, pork and veg ragu and a shellfish version with a spicy puttanesca. The menu changes regularly to highlight the best of the season and local producers. Sometimes it's nice to eat delicious food with no blasting music, at reasonable prices (app/salads: $12-16, most entrees high 20's to $36) just hanging with happy well fed adults enjoying conversation. It would have been 5 stars but for the forgetting of complimentary bread service until we asked for it during the entrees. The bread was mediocre and chewy. Our primary waitperson sort of disappeared for a bit. An evening special of soba noodles with julienne vegetables was really just a bowl of noodles with little evidence of any veggies. Regardless, I've recommended to about 10 people already today and I'll keep doing so!!

A while ago, my wife and I had a positive experience at River Tavern. That experience has endured…read morein our minds through a number of less positive experiences. After a recent disappointing experience at RT with my son and father, I have to accept that the the initial positive experience may be the exception and not the rule. RT is located in Chester Center, which is a top CT town. Top tier location. The restaurant is cute, but cramped. After we were seated, a while passed before we saw our server. We were ready to order for 10 minutes and she still hadn't checked in with us. I told another employee that we wanted to see our server. She shook her head and we waited another 5 minutes. We finally were able to order. Then people who arrived after us, and ordered after us, received food first. Multiple tables. Through multiple service issues, there was no recognition from the employees about the issues. Our primary server asked how things were going when she first checked in with us. I told her the truth. And she didn't seem like she cared. She was apparently hoping that I would just say "good". The food was mixed. My son and I split a burger and an order of chilaquiles. The chilaquiles was good. The burger was medium rare rather than the medium we asked for. The burger was underseasoned. It may not have been seasoned at all. The bottom part of the bun was cut at a weird angle. As the juices flowed from the burger, it soaked the short side of the burger bun so that it was unusable. My Dad said his salad featuring peaches and nuts, barely had any peaches or nuts. I'm unlikely to eat at River Tavern again anytime soon. 2.5 Stars

By the time I got her she was crazy to play and pulled my back out by lunging toward other dogs for a wrestle. As a responsible dog owner, I didn't want to bring her to the dog run w/o testing her first so I called Dogtown for training and dog walking and was told that there was a two month wait. After two months I had difficulty walking at all but had learned that she wasn't aggressive to anything except maybe birds. When I called Dogtown back for an appointment I left a message and received an answer that there was a wait list. I called back to be put on the list and was told that I needed to speak with Julie. Julie never called back. I left two more messages before giving up. This was over a four month period. I guess Dogtown business is so good that they don't need any more customers. I would never go back because of the disrespect and unprofessionalism I experienced from just their front desk. I got a different trainer and dog walker & that pup is happily living with a four yr old child, two cats and a 20 year old canine sister. My experience with DT was frustrating and horrible and I would never recommend them.
