There's no servers either, you go to the counter and order your food. The food is a bit overpriced, but you're in a hotel in downtown Chicago, so take that into account. However, the food wasn't very good either. I ordered nachos, which tasted mediocre. The tacos were ok. If you're staying in the hotel and you need quick food, it's enough. Ordering was a little confusing but the burritos I got were really delicious. I would for sure order burritos from here again if I stay at the moxy. I went here to try their signature taco, the jalapeño bacon taco, and I used the yelp check on offer for a free side of street corn. The bacon taco is good but didn't have the texture or substance of a thick bacon, but the other ingredients meshed together produced a delicious taco. However, for $7, I expected more than what I see as the 1 taco does look kind of sad for the price. The street corn is hearty with cotija and other ingredients, but it was not too saucy so I got to enjoy the entire bowl without feeling too bloated. At $7, this was a decent price. This is conveniently located at the Moxy so I guess you pay for convenience, but there is a good amount of Mexican food around River North area at various price points if you want to venture further. read more

While the bacon itself wasn't that bad, the rest of the ingredients were pretty bland/there wasn't much other flavor (sans the taste of thick cut bacon). I did not taste jalapeño or even pico de gallo. It was more like regular tomato, and then the lettuce, avocado and ranch. Got the taco to-go and unfortunately when I ate it 10 mins later, the wrapping made the flour tortilla soggy and it fell apart pretty quickly. And not even visually appealing--it looked like a very sad taco (see pic). Overpriced for what it was. Tried the food while we stayed at the hotel for the weekend. Honestly, I did not like any of the food I had. I ordered a corn in a cup, which is a snack I grew up eating at least once a week, and it just didn't taste like what a corn in a cup usually tastes like to me. Only giving this place a star because 1) it was open late (3am on Friday and Saturday) - surprisingly there aren't a whole lot of late night options in this area even though we are a stones throw away from lots of nightlife. & because 2) the staff was friendly We ordered a zombie burrito and a taco, and it was extremely overpriced and realistically not that great. The taco being $7 was an extreme waste of money. It wasn't good or that flavorful whatsoever. Keep in mind, they don't even have salsa here. It's literally packet of Tapatio or something along those lines. The $14 burrito was okay. I genuinely would not cone back here unless you have money to blow for subpar food. Although the guy who took our order was nice, he also would not accept my Yelp check-in which currently (as I write this review) gives you a free elote with your purchase when you check in on Yelp! He told me they it's a third party app and he wouldn't be able to add that on for free. I've never heard that one before, lol. Anyways, if you're desperate and there's nothing easily around here, I guess come here by all means... but I would skip. Being a native New Mexican, I know a thing or two about breakfast burritos. Zombie Taco's American Burrito is the REAL deal. Fantastic ingredients (egg, sausage, bacon, green chile queso, hash browns, cheddar, salsa) come together perfectly inside a flour tortilla to form a truly great burrito. I would have been interested to try a house-made salsa on the side, but the Cholula provided was just right. The service was crisp and efficient, and the setting was clean, comfortable, and chic. I stayed at the Moxy for a few nights and one of those nights, my friends and I found ourselves hungry at a much later hour than normal. We decided to head back to the hotel and order a few items from here. Since we were staying at the Moxy, we came inside to order. I got two tacos, my friend got a quesadilla, and my other friend got the nachos. We grabbed a table and the hotel staff was nice enough to bring our food out to us when everything was ready. I ordered a baja fish taco and a veggie taco. Both were rather large so I'm glad I stuck with ordering two. The baja wasn't my favorite, but this city has a lot of competition on the fish taco front. The veggie taco with black beans and avocado was great. I enjoyed the lime vinaigrette that was splashed on top. I give the food a solid 3 stars but the service gives them another. I should mention that the quesadilla wasn't even on the menu but they were sweet enough to make it for my friend. We all appreciated the flexibility. read more

I do not know if the hotel owns it, or if these guys are renting the space. Either way, they turned out to have pretty good Mexican food. There is also a to-go pickup window on the outside. We had some tacos and burritos and everything tasted great. The menu of this place is somewhat fusion. Along with classical options like carnitas, they offer such meat options as Korean Beef, and Braised Brisket (which was the most delicious one for us). For the most part though, it is fairly authentic Mexican food in terms of the style of cooking and vegetable fillings. You can even get bottles of Jarritos here too. read more

I ordered two tacos. Battered fish and the adobo chicken. Both tacos were underwhelming. To be $6 and $7 they were so dry and tasteless I was in shock. Cholula hot sauce was the only thing that save both tacos. The tortillas were dry. There was slaw on both tacos which was unnecessary. The only good thing I can say is that the meat on both were fresh. That's it. Then I got thirsty and decided on 1 coconut water and 1 Red Bull. Why did these two beverages cost $15? Beats me! I met a friend from out of town who said she also did not enjoy the tacos. I had to defend Chicago and let her know this is not an accurate representation of Chicago tacos.
