Not only are the margaritas some of the BEST, but the tacos are amazing and the churros are insanely good!! But honestly, one of the biggest reasons I came back to Coco Bar was because of Jackie! She truly makes the entire experience worth it. She was so sweet and welcoming to me, my fiancé, and even our dog, who she offered water too. My fiancé and I came back tonight for the second time, and Jackie remembered us AND our order from our last visit! She even remembered us debating between the house tequila and Patrón Silver for my margarita. LOL! Now THAT is amazing service and attention to detail. Jackie, Luis, and honestly the entire staff were so freaking amazing. Great drinks, great food, great energy, and even better service. We'll definitely be back. Thank you guys for making our night so special! Jade read more

Omgoodness. Such an amazing experience. We were in the city to celebrate our anniversary. And this was literally a pit stop. And I'm so glad it was. We just wanted something small to share... This place. So cute. So well put together. I just love the vibes as a whole. The staff. AhMazing. And the food. Yummy. We got the nachos and the horchata. I mean. So delicious. We ate outside. Cuz well. I think that's the only seating provided. Lol! We sat by the little fountain and just had the BEST time. read more

Great place to grab a quick drink by the riverwalk! I recommend the tamarindo margarita. There is seating around the bar and you can use the restroom at the business down the stairs along the riverwalk. Drinks were prepared fast and everything was tasty. read more

Flavor was good but the chicken was very dry. Especially on the tacos dorados. It was hard to swallow so I had to dunk them in the very milks salsa. My favorite were the beans. Staff was very friendly. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. read more

Came here on an impromptu night out with colleagues after an event. I ordered the mangoñada which is mango ice cream, tajín, and Chamoy sauce. Definitely would read it a 10 out of 10 experience. The only reason I'm not reading this five stars is because the location is kind of sketchy because it is on the corner of really busy streets and it was nighttime. I feel like anybody could just walk in. read more

I love this place. There is a lovely large shaded patio tucked away in the middle of the city. This backs up to the Riverwalk. What a great place to take a break. We had the margaritas which you build and they make for you there. Very refreshing! read more

Was walking around and stopped here for dinner. I got three chicken tacos and a strawberry margarita for $30. The margarita was given to me immediately and the food was brought out shortly there after. The portion size was nothing crazy, but filling for a meal. I did think the tacos were a little dry though, even with the sauce served. Be warned- it's spicy! The atmosphere is quite nice and although it doesn't overlook the water, you're still in the general area. It's sectioned off enough where you don't feel stressed from the busy atmosphere of the street. I probably wouldn't return for food, but the drink was quite tasty. read more

Great location and service but absolutely the worst food I've ever had. I'm vegan so I thought cool they have beyond fajitas. And let me just say it was not bad because of that... it's not just the worst vegan tacos I've ever had but the worst tacos/ food I've ever had. Especially since I spent over $75! It was 90% grilled veggies like zucchini no that is that's not in fajitas and mush. Besides the lack of beyond meat it was flavorless. The beans, chips and salsa (mediocre) were the only edible part. Would say just get a marg and chips. read more

Cocobar was such a great find! I had the walking taco, and it was really good, especially paired with a delicious frozen margarita. The customer service was fast, friendly, and welcoming. And you can't beat the location--right on the river with such a great atmosphere! Definitely a fun spot to grab a bite and a drink. I'd happily come back! read more

Great location, underwhelming food and drinks We stopped at CocoBar purely based on its prime location by the river. The views are lovely and the vibe is festive--but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food quality was disappointing and definitely didn't match the high prices. I ordered a regular margarita, and it was sour in all the wrong ways--harsh, unbalanced, and honestly pretty unpleasant. I couldn't finish it. If you're here for the scenery, I'd recommend grabbing something canned and enjoying the view instead. It's a cute spot, but you're paying for location, not quality. read more

Tacos & margarita were decent but they earned an extra star for the overall vibe. Fun atmosphere & right on the river walk

I visited Chicago for my first time and came here twice! Once with my sorority sister and the other time later that day by myself. I absolutely love the vibe as a fellow Hispanic and it gave such summery vibes! The food was absolutely yummy and our frozen margs were strong! We did the mango and prickly pear flavors. The staff and service was kind and overall I really enjoyed finding community at this bar. read more

I walk past this place on my way to work. It's such a cute little place and looks so festive and I have been dying to sit out and enjoy some street food and a margarita while watching people go by and enjoy the views of the Chicago River. During my lunch hour I ordered steak tacos and a margarita. Very expensive, but definitely taking into consideration and that they are located in the River North area but the price did it feel worth what I ordered. The tacos were mediocre at best and strangely, they topped my tacos with Parmesan cheese. The margarita was standard. I would definitely sit here again and maybe enjoy a cool beverage but I think I would pass on the food. The ladies serving were pleasant enough. There wasn't much interaction with them, but I think they should have given me more detail about the cheese they were putting on the taco, so that was a negative. read more

I had their chicken street taco, and it was quite overpriced. The chicken had a lot of fat, the taco was very soggy, and it was overly salty. Overall, it definitely wasn't worth the price. read more

I pass the CocoBar every day and was determined to try it this summer. The food was ok, the service was good. The ambiance was good except for the pigeons and bees were too comfortable with the us. I know the CocoBar cannot control the environment, but the animals/bees did put a damper on our experience. There were other guest jumping up running from the bees. Maybe a certain flower or scent can be used to deter them all. read more

I'd recommend grabbing a seat before ordering so you can really enjoy the view -- nighttime is especially nice with the perfect lighting (not too bright, not too dim). The staff was friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. There's plenty of seating both inside and along the Riverwalk. I tried the Veggie Nachos, and they were filling, tasty, and definitely picture/video-worthy. Whether you're in town looking for a quick bite, or just need a spot to relax after a long day, CocoBar is a great choice -- especially during Happy Hour. read more

Cute spot with great views of the river. Such a nice outdoor spot to enjoy drinks and food with your friends during Chicago summers. The blood orange margarita is perfect. I've been wanting to try this place because just from driving by, it stands out being in a great location by the river north, surrounded by the buildings. Finally had time to stop by, before the winter hits, and it's more snack food than actual dishes but I really enjoyed them. I love the option of creating your own margarita as well as other variety cocktails. No indoor space, just the stand to order and all seating outside but I love the trees surrounding and creating some privacy from the constant foot traffic you see. The overall attitudes were very positive, especially form the waiter delivering the food. Super sweet and made sure we didn't need anything else. Overall very happy we stopped by. read more

After a long day of walking and Chicago adventures this was the absolute perfect ultra casual place right near the river to stop for a bite with my family. They have guacamole and chips ( which the adults loved but was a bit spicy for kids), 6-7 types of empanadas that are grilled and not deep fried ( DELICIOUS) as well as some flatbreads and fun drinks ( eg smoothie type etc). The margarita flatbread is perfect for picky kids. My tween loved her ham and cheese empanada , husband loved the corn one and my bacon/ goat cheese one was great too ( 3 empanadas for $ 14.50 which is reasonable ). Order at the counter and food will be delivered to your table. Friendly and fast service. The best thing about this place is super festive Mexican music and tons of entertainment for kids while you wait for your food ( eg corn hole or " bags" as most Chicagoan's call it, giant connect four game, and chalk to decorate their patio kept my kids entertained so the adults could chill and relax). This is just a feel good sweet little place perfect for a good weather Chicago day ( no indoor seating ). I left with a smile on my face and recommend, especially if you have kids and want an alternative to fast food chains and don't want to sit in a stuffy downtown restaurant. Could see it being fun sans kids too. read more

got asked, "did you read the menu" from a supervisor when I made a simple mistake reading the menu (poorly structure by the way). Rudeness remarks are rewarded with this 1 star review. don't come here expecting good service and customer treatment. This place is perfect for a light lunch near the Chicago River in downtown. Who doesn't love sitting outdoors in a cool breeze near the river?! There was music playing in the background and outdoor patio tables and chairs. I ordered the food at the counter and waited about 10 minutes for the food to come out. When I saw Mexican Affogato on the drinks menu, I knew I had to try it. And I'm glad I did. It is like a fun kids drink for grownups. There were about two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a sea of espresso, sprinkled with a dash of spice. It was the perfect mix of spice and sweetness. The size is generous too. The Churro Fries and the Carne Asada Tacos came next. The slim Churro Fries were tasty and easy for dipping into the chocolate sauce. I wish the chocolate sauce were warmer and more liquidy. It was a bit too solid and thick, but I still enjoyed it. The Carne Asada Tacos had a generous serving of beef and went well with the salsa and diced onions and tomatoes. For all three items, the bill came out to about $45. A bit pricey, but worth the visit. read more

such a cute outdoor spot by the river. you gotta order up front and then they bring your food to the table. their $15 margs were pretty good but not really strong. if you do get it, get the tajin rim! really enjoyed their walking tacos with al pastor + their churro sundae read more

So this place is straight up a tourist trap. Great pictures of the river for the gram I guess. The strawberry margarita is underwhelming in its flavor. Definitely could use more mix or heaven for bid actual strawberries for $50. We got the chips with Verde salsa but that was even more disappointing. This places Verde salsa is more equivalent to a tomatillo broth. It is nothing but a straight puree that is served hot!!! Why?. The chicken dorado tacos were okay but a tad bit dry as it came with a side of the tomatillo soup and beans The Black beans were also blended and resembled sludge. I'm not in general a hater but this place is a terrible Mexican joint with a great location. read more

It was a decent spot right above the riverwalk to grab a quick drink. The drink was pretty good, but the up charge for the mango chamoy was a little unnecessary considering this margarita's base price is $15. The drink comes out of a hose made in front of you, so nothing about it indicates that the price is worth it. Quick service though! read more

A bit chaotic - took the cashiers a few minutes to realize we were waiting to order rather than waiting for drinks, but I certainly could have spoken up sooner. My biggest gripe is the food. Jamaica was too sweet and lacking that tart hibiscus flavor. Al pastor tacos were mediocre, very greasy without the flavor to match, plus the tortillas tasted store-bought and had a dryness that overpowered the filling. Way overpriced, you're paying for the location rather than the food. It's a cute place with a good location, but convenience does not outweigh quality in this case - look around for a food truck instead, or go for another cuisine while in the Loop. If you can't find a taco truck, you really have to go further out to find good Mexican food in Chi. Caveat - after the first confusion, service was quick. This makes it a good option if you have a hungry kid who needs food urgently, although again, expensive. read more

This place is incredible! Amazing location and patio. Great food, drink and snack options. Plenty of seating. I had a snack, horchata and churro fries. Just the right amount. Flavor and culture.
