This is a review for work done about 4.5 years ago. I doubt much has changed but quality…read moreworkmanship will hold up over the years....Ghassan and his crew's work however, has not. The good was that Ghassan was willing to work with us on a tight time line from a large insurance payout due to water damage. It was a massive job (150,000+). The list of the bad is very long. He subcontracts basically everything, which is fine except he was not in the habit of picking great guys. The tile guy was lazy, disrespectful, and very short tempered. He smoked about 3 packs a day and discarded all the empty cartons and cigarette butts right on the drive. He dry cut TILE with a angle grinder INSIDE MY HOME. Anyone that deals with tile knows how big of a deal that is. It created a fucking huge mess and absolutely covered every last inch of things in tile dust. Oh and the tile is coming up everywhere....and we need to now fix it only 4.5 years later His carpenter was a complete hack. Some of the cuts on the finished cabinetry were some of the laziest work I have ever seen, absolutely butchered the underside of our sink cabinet because they couldn't be bothered to take the sink out which they put in too soon. Left pencil lines everywhere, No attention to detail. They consistently used our dumpster (which we paid for) to discard materials from other jobs, even after I asked them not to as it was starting to get full. The plumbers did a decent job but the fixtures that Ghassan sold us have not held up over 3 years, most of them have something wrong with them, finish flaking off, leaks even with very light use, etc... The electricians were fine but were definitely missing some attention to detail, loose outlets, bad breakers that needed replacing, etc... I also asked many time for his crews to not pull down our somewhat steep gravel driveway (because they get completely stuck every single time) and they all ignored me. I debated writing this review but every month something else that Ghassan's crew touched seems to fail on us and needs replacement (far before it normally should) I wouldn't trust him to work on my home again, and the entire experience made me paranoid to deal with new england contractors.

I rarely write reviews on businesses, but think it is important to share my experience with others…read more I spent a lot of time and money putting together a large kitchen peninsula. I had ultracraft cabinets installed with a granite countertop. I loved the craftmanship of the cabinet install (subcontractor Tim Chase was great- and also does custom work). However, the granite came in an unfinished cut, with what I believe was an unsealed, ashy finish-- not at all what was shown to me in the showroom. I called Boston Kitchen the next day after the 8:30pm install. It took them 3-4 weeks (with me checking in with them constantly as they wouldn't get back to me in a timely fashion), for them to come out and do a color enhancement, recut, and seal my countertop. By the time the granite company came, there had been many everyday stains in the countertop. In addition, one of the soft close cabinet mechanisms didn't work and they were supposed to come out and replace it. I have discussed these issues with Jim Hippern, the manager, that there are permanent stains on my new granite counter and wanted the granite company to work on it further. He was also going to get the cabinet drawer fixed. After not getting a response and action on their part, I even disputed the claim with my credit card company. I have sent follow up emails to the manager to ask him what our next steps are for having the granite company address my permanent stains, and Jim hasn't even had the decency to respond to my emails for three weeks. All in all, I like the cabinets I picked out (even if one of the drawers doesn't work right), but would never recommend this company to work with as they have deplorable customer service. They installed an unfinished product in my kitchen and now won't own up to fixing it, nor have the decency to respond to my emails. If looking for a kitchen remodel company, look elsewhere.

Northeast Kitchens & Stoneworks - The lower cabinets bases should've been 42 inches long. Came through at 48. I tried to re-order but they still came in wrong

Go elsewhere for semi-custom or custom cabinets…read more My wife and I considered Northeast for an upscale kitchen project in their semi-custom Candlelight line. When we priced everything out the cost ended up being the same as going with a fully custom local cabinet maker. They also had a painted door made for us 2 years ago to check the look of the door and told us it would be $100 if we ended up not going with them. We had to delay our project and picked up the door earlier this year after they got to use it for 2 years as a floor model and Lucy mentioned it had been damaged during that time. When I returned the door and informed Lucy that we were going with another cabinet maker Lucy said it was damaged and said she'd reduce the $400 (!!!) cost of the door to $150 to be "fair". Worst of all, she was condescending and accused me of using the door for another cabinet maker to copy the design which is not the case. We went elsewhere due to cost, better customization, and better customer service. If you're considering semi-customer cabinets, you can get full custom local made cabinets for the price Northeast charges. If you're considering stock cabinets you would get a much better customer service experience at Caroles (https://www.kitchenpeople.com/), we also considered Carole's and would have gone with them if we hadn't decided to go fully custom.

I've contacted at least 7 or 8 contractors before finding Kitchen Tune Up with Matt. Previously I could hardly even get a ballpark quote, never mind a detailed quote according to the scope of work. Matt was able to get that to me in a week that included everything we talked about. Another convenience is that its price includes cabinets. Almost all the previous contractors said they only quote me the job but I have to go find and buy my own cabinets. There could be more options if you go to a cabinet dealer, but I was able to find the cabinets that I'm happy with from the Kitchen Tune Up selection. The quote and final price was all very reasonable. Matt and his team are courteous, professional, and effective. The team has a great chemistry, which is always important for getting a project done well. They set up dividers and floor covering to keep everything as clean as possible, and also clean up after every workday; and they are not noisy since my husband and I work from home. They are very helpful to answer questions, and flexible to work around issues and requests. Schedule wise it was very efficient. Groups of workers showed up and finished on all the dates previously scheduled, no endless delays. Matt subcontracted the floor repair for me, which is included in the quote. It was a bit tricky to work on my tiles but in the end the tile floor came out nicely. Matt also contracted electricians (Wetmore Electric, separate review on them), which is quoted and paid separately. But two teams worked well together. I did find my own guy to come in during an in-between week to do a separate wall/ceiling repair and painting job (Atmosphere Painting and Plastering, separate review on them). Matt as able to schedule his team around my schedule, too, which I really appreciate. The final piece was I had a matching countertop that is to be moved and cut and reinstalled on a new base cabinet. This piece took a long time. Because the job was small, the countertop company didn't want to spend the time to come to pick up the granite. So Matt's team did the extra work to bring the countertop to them, have it cut, then bring it back to install it themselves. Even though this is not their usual job, the work came out beautifully, including covering a weird corner that has a funky whole. Again, Matt's team is amazing, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to do a kitchen job of any size.
