WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Placed $17K order for Cambria quartz countertops with…read moreGerrityStone/HomeDepot and it's been a nightmare. Day of order delivery, GerrityStone calls us to tell us that they broke our quartz countertop at their warehouse. We ask them how much longer it would take to get an unbroken countertop. General Manager Mark Capuano tells us we need to receive the two broken pieces with a seam because "contractually he can put a seam anywhere he wants." Mr. Capuano offers us a "$250 gift certificate for a nice dinner" on our $17K order. We say no. He asks us what we want? We ask for our original unbroken countertop order to be fulfilled. He tells us that'll cost an additional $3,000. He asks if we would receive the broken countertop with an additional seam. We don't want to take the broken countertop, but we'll take it if we're given $2K in compensation. He tells us this discussion is a waste of a time and hangs up on us. GerrityStone comes back and offers us $500 to receive the broken countertop. We refuse and are still waiting to hear from them. Addendum * In GerrityStone's document, it specifically states "Seam placement should be discussed during the in-home template appointment...Final seam placement is at the discretion of the professional, and seam location may be able to be moved or eliminated in particular circumstances...Additional seams may be required based on the ability to maneuver a piece into position at the installation site." We reviewed and approved the single seam placement for our L-shaped kitchen countertop. GerrityStone is not moving a seam, they're introducing another seam due to damage to the quartz countertop under their supervision at their warehouse. Doesn't GerrityStone have insurance for damage like this? GerrityStone's website says "we will only be satisfied when you are"....we are definitely not satisfied.

A couple years go we used Bradfords for a carpet installation. This time we needed hardwood…read moreinstalled in a new home office. We had such a wonderful experience previously and hoped we would be as lucky the second time around. The floors came out absolutely perfect! They helped choose the best flooring based on the look we were after. Ultimately, we choose a new type of flooring that is waterproof and scratch proof and looks like real hardwood. The only downside is, now I wish we had that throughout the entire house because our dog's nails have done a real number on the original house floors and water stains in the kitchen. Alas, that larger project will have to be for another day when the penny jar is full. The installers worked quickly and flawlessly and were very helpful with the best options on how to blend the new floor with the floor that is in the rest of the home at the doorway for a seamless transition. We are perfectionists and are never thrilled to have to delegate home work to strangers, but thankfully we've found a company we trust with our floors. Highly recommend them and will let you know if we use them again in the future.

Pam was our sales director and it didn't seem to be disturbed about the awful condition of our place. Stan is a direct representative of sorts and I had complained about tiles not installed properly. He agreed because in one section I felt I was walking on a trampoline. When I didn't hear from Stan for a few weeks , we returned to the Bradford store on Newbury street only to find out he didn't remember me. That was our last interaction with Bradford. Matt is the best communicating contractor I've met so far. This is one of the best parts of this…read morekitchen remodel project. I've contacted at least 7 or 8 contractors before finding Kitchen Tune Up with Matt. Previously I could hardly even get a ballpark quote, never mind a detailed quote according to the scope of work. Matt was able to get that to me in a week that included everything we talked about. Another convenience is that its price includes cabinets. Almost all the previous contractors said they only quote me the job but I have to go find and buy my own cabinets. There could be more options if you go to a cabinet dealer, but I was able to find the cabinets that I'm happy with from the Kitchen Tune Up selection. The quote and final price was all very reasonable. Matt and his team are courteous, professional, and effective. The team has a great chemistry, which is always important for getting a project done well. They set up dividers and floor covering to keep everything as clean as possible, and also clean up after every workday; and they are not noisy since my husband and I work from home. They are very helpful to answer questions, and flexible to work around issues and requests. Schedule wise it was very efficient. Groups of workers showed up and finished on all the dates previously scheduled, no endless delays. Matt subcontracted the floor repair for me, which is included in the quote. It was a bit tricky to work on my tiles but in the end the tile floor came out nicely. Matt also contracted electricians (Wetmore Electric, separate review on them), which is quoted and paid separately. But two teams worked well together. I did find my own guy to come in during an in-between week to do a separate wall/ceiling repair and painting job (Atmosphere Painting and Plastering, separate review on them). Matt as able to schedule his team around my schedule, too, which I really appreciate. The final piece was I had a matching countertop that is to be moved and cut and reinstalled on a new base cabinet. This piece took a long time. Because the job was small, the countertop company didn't want to spend the time to come to pick up the granite. So Matt's team did the extra work to bring the countertop to them, have it cut, then bring it back to install it themselves. Even though this is not their usual job, the work came out beautifully, including covering a weird corner that has a funky whole. Again, Matt's team is amazing, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to do a kitchen job of any size.
