I approached Bath & Company in late May after reviewing online review of this company off of Angie's List, BBB, Yelp and Facebook. Generally, the reviews appeared to be mostly ok. I am a firm believer of supporting local small businesses in the area. I originally started working with one sales representative who really didn't have the knowledge of what was involved with a kitchen remodeling project and eventually got directly involved with the actual owner of the business, Roberto Santos. I explained to the owner what I wanted to do with my kitchen which was completely remove all of the original cabinetry, countertops, flooring ect.. First step in the process was to have the kitchen measured and the owner highly recommended using his preferred general contractor named Erlon. I went on the good recommendation and honesty of the owner that this was the best person to use for my job. I set up visit with Erlon to come to my house and go over what needed to be done and he was going to do the measurements. I had asked the owner of Bath & Co if he was going to come to my house as well, but he said no, Erlon will take care of it . I explained to Erlon with my wife what we wanted to do with the kitchen, which was keep basically the same design but just move the stove and refrigerator and add molding around my kitchen window as the house was not built with trim molding around that particular window, it was originally ceramic tiled around the window. Erlon supposedly took down all of the notes and measurements and said he would pass them along to the owner of Bath & Co.. Several days later I was presented a quote on the cabinetry directly from the owner of Bath & Co along with a lump sum quote of what the cabinets, trim pieces and moldings would cost. I agreed to the price and gave him a deposit to go ahead with ordering all of the materials. A few weeks later the order was ready to be picked up at the manufactures distribution center which is fairly local to where I live. I went to pick up the order and brought everything home and placed everything in my garage. Erlon started the job shortly afterwards first installing the base cabinets then the wall cabinets directly over the base cabinets. First issue arose when the cabinets on the wall went directly to the end of the wall edge of the window opening, which was not what I wanted. I was not happy with the look and told Erlon this was not right and I told the owner of Bath & Co we have a big problem. There was a conflict at that point between Erlon , Roberto (owner of Bath & Co) and myself and I was blamed for not telling them I wanted to add trim around my kitchen window, well my wife knew that we told Erlon we wanted it and it was shown on the kitchen design photos. There was a question now of who was going to pay to get the two cabinets that were too large that were around the kitchen window. I felt I should not have to pay again, but the end result was Erlon refused with assisting in the cost of the new cabinets and the owner of Bath & Co said the only thing he could do was pay for the less expensive of the two cabinets needed, at that point I had no choice and felt pressured into buying the additional cabinet for an additional $160, which the owner said it was his "cost" . My kitchen was apart, we were on a time schedule as my wife was pregnant at the time. Ironically, I was not offered any compensation towards what I originally paid for the first two cabinets that were useless to the job at that point. Additionally, I had mentioned in the beginning I wanted the cabinets to be flush to the ceiling without any gaps between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. The crown moldings were not ordered correctly and were not big enough to satisfy the difference in height. I had to return the original moldings and purchase moldings that were substantially more expensive to the cost of $420.00. So between the cabinet I had to buy for $160 and the moldings for $420.00 it cost me an additional $520.00 that I should not have had to pay if the order was done correctly. If the owner of Bath & Co had come to my house as I asked him to multiple times I could have showed him what I wanted as he portrayed himself as the "designer". The kitchen project progressed after waiting two weeks of waiting for the two new cabinets to come in. I had multiple issues with the contractor Erlon, his quality level of work was awful, he was not punctual most times showing up after 6:00 p.m. to work on the job for a couple of hours. He had no attention to detail and to be honest I don't think he was qualified to do the job. He didn't show up the the right tools and materials, mainly wood shims and nails/screws ect.. I stressed to the owner of Bath & Co I was not happy with the outcome of how the kitchen job was progressing as cabinets were crooked , misaligned and trim pieces poorly cut . The owner told me to not pay Erlon, simple as that or "throw him out of my house" with no pay. I was put in a read more
