I've tried Maiwand a few times so I was curious to see how its sister restaurant was. I ended up ordering a beef kabob, chicken kabob, pumpkin appetizer, and mantu. Off the bat I knew the bread was going to be amazing just by how hot and airy it was. The beef kabob was so flavorful and tender. The chicken wasn't quite as good in my opinion but it was cooked absolutely perfectly. I wish it had a little spice or punch to the flavor. The sauce that came with both dishes was also very good. The star of the meal was the mantu. It's hard to describe to someone who hasn't had it but it's a dumpling with a bunch of seasoning and sauce on top. I wasn't a huge fan of the consistency of the pumpkin, I wish it was more a mashed potato fluffiness. Overall, I'd say this place is my new go-to for beef kabobs. read more

I understand why this place is usually packed when I walk by. The food is fantastico!! My family placed a large pick up order for my brother's birthday. The restaurant is casual with a decent amount of seating, but a lot of people were getting to go orders. I'll only review what I got. The fried cauliflower is a must have! I love cauliflower and roast it regularly, so I'm strict when it comes to restaurant cauliflower. I wish we had ordered two of these! The cauliflower was the perfect texture and the chipotle sauce had the perfect amount of heat. For my meal, I got the veggies platter and it is an ABUNDANCE of food for only $14!! The pumpkin and chickpeas were chef's kiss! But the spinach?? I'm not a big fan of spinach, so I don't know what they did to make it taste so good! Sautéd with onion and garlic to perfection! My friends and I wanted to have dinner to catch up and they found this place on google maps and i am so happy they did. Their service was great--super cool and kind. We ordered our food at the counter, and they brought it to our table. Everything we ate was excellent. I love Zizi Kabob, I happen to see this place after leaving the dollar store. I wanted a quick bite to eat, I was completely blow away. The food is authentic Afghan cuisine, very fresh and the flavor is bold. The prices are reasonable considering the quality. I love the chicken kabobs, the meat is tender and flavorful. Everything from here is very flavorful and delicious. They have a wide variety of proteins including vegetarian entrees. They also have a selection of speciality and soft drinks as well as baklava. The service is done at the register upfront where you can place your order. You can place your order to go or you can sit and they serve the food to you. Spot Visit: February 6th, 2026 When you walk in, the interior immediately catches your eye. The customer service and digital menu make it easy to confidently order exactly what your appetite is calling for. The wait was a bit long, but not a dealbreaker. The food was good overall, I especially loved the salad. The shawarma had great flavor, though a touch less salt would've easily brought it to an 8.5/10 for me. That said, the lassi completely stole the show. The sauces paired with the shawarma and the oil for the salad were spot on. I also appreciated that I mentioned needing non-dairy options beforehand, and they accommodated my dietary needs without issue. I was in the mood for for kabobs and decided to give Ziza a try! When I first walked in I was blown away how beautiful the restaurant was. Great decorations and a vibrant dining room. They had a large party and everyone seemed to be really happy. It gave me a chance to scoop out what the food looked like and I was really excited to try it. Upon ordering service went fine, but it was a little difficult with all of their takeout orders going on at the same time, people seem to very territorial in line. I also had to keep adding items as the cashier wanted to quickly cash me out. I ordered the tandoori chicken platter and was able to substitute chickpeas and fries for the salad and rice which was a great surprise. I also ordered the kofta kabob with chickpeas and rice. Lastly, I decided to grab the aushak dish - which is one of my favorites! I decided to get a fountain drink and the iced tea was absolutely delicious. I liked that they provided lemons and had pretty silverware to use. They gave you a number and you sit and wait for your food to be served. Our food came out with lengthy intervals one at a time with the appetizer coming out last. The chicken was my absolute favorite. It was really moist and delicious. However I'm surprised it was all drumsticks. The kofta was herbaceous and very tasty. I really enjoyed the chickpeas however, one side dish was cold and the other was hot and had raw onions on top which I really liked. The aushak was okay but a too little sour and watery for my liking. I was blown away by the food and will be back to try more. Lovely interior with delicious Afghan food! The wait was 30 min, but the food thankfully was tasty. I tried their Aushak appetizer and the Chicken Kabob Platter. The chicken was a little salty, but well seasoned. The rice had good flavor and spice to it as well. This was my first Aushak to try so I can't compare, but I liked tasting jalapeños for a kick (it wasn't spicy for me) and it was a decent, good dish to try! I tried a bite of someone's Chicken Shawarma sandwich- that tasted really good especially with that white sauce. I usually order from Maiwand, but I had to try this place and compare! Ziza is honestly at the same level- I just am biased a little towards Maiwand as I've been going to them for years and their green chutney, salad, and naan is better (plus, one extra piece of chicken compared to Ziza) I didn't really like the green chutney at Ziza and I wish a nice dressing or flavor was provided in the salad. I absolutely love ZiZa! It's by far one of my favorite spots to eat. The food is consistent and the prices are reasonable. The service can be hit or miss only because it gets really busy. We typically call our order in to avoid waiting. Weekends is when they seem to the busiest. My favorite dishes are the chicken kabob salad and the chicken tikka masala. It does not seem much from outside but it is a nicely decorated place from inside with afghan paintings and an afghani novelty items cart. You get multiple, juicy pieces of chicken, lots of rice (they have raisins in it which is not my favorite but it really does enhance the rice so I'm not mad at it) and salad. My family and I were in communication with the owner of Ziza Kabob beginning in late October regarding catering for a family graduation event in mid-December (40-50 guests, including children and elders). Throughout the process, communication was consistently unprofessional and dismissive. Despite clearly outlining our satisfactory order in writing, the owner repeatedly insisted we would "run out of food" and stated that he would not be able to help us on the day of the event if that occurred, without asking about our guest demographics or considering our reassurances. We followed the owner's instructions to confirm the order and submit payment closer to the event date. However, just days before the event, my mother contacted the store once in an attempt to clarify details after weeks of difficult communication with the owner and spoke with the store manager, who was courteous and helpful. Despite later claims that my mother repeatedly contacted the store, this was her only call. Later that same night, at 10 PM, the owner sent a message instructing her not to call the store and abruptly refused to take our order altogether. This decision was made without prior warning and left us scrambling to secure catering for a significant family event on very short notice. Most concerning was receiving a text message threatening legal action if a "fake review" was posted. Additionally, when a review was later written by another family member, the owner incorrectly assumed it was written by my mother and publicly named and attempted to identify her, including referencing her business. This behavior felt inappropriate and deeply unprofessional. Additionally, the owner falsely stated that we requested food sufficient for only 8-10 people, despite a written, itemized order clearly documenting quantities appropriate for 40-50 guests. We ultimately worked with another local restaurant, Maiwand Kabob in Columbia, which provided the exact order requested to Ziza Kabob. The food was more than sufficient and was delivered with excellent service at a lower cost, reinforcing that our original request was reasonable. I am sharing this experience factually so others can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, the communication and conduct we experienced fell far short of acceptable. read more

I love this place!! I thought I wrote a review when the owner first opened because that first experience with this food and location was great. Most of the dishes are made to order and it's always hot and fresh. I love the shrimp/ chicken tikka masala. The shrimp and sauce are perfect and I always get a little less hot but it's always super yummy. We also love the gyro platter the lamb is so flavorful and they have the crispy fries on the side. Delicious food and fast service. Oh and the mango lime drink is my favorite go to drink. read more

We placed our orders, and I wanted the lamb kabob platter. I was excited to chow down on the food when it arrived. The pros: -The lamb was absolutely delicious -The naan was absolutely delicious The cons: -The rice is HEAVILY seasoned with cinnamon (and has raisins) and I dislike cinnamon. Be aware of this and order plain if necessary. -The salad had no dressing on it whatsoever so while I ate it, I didn't enjoy it. Lovely restaurant with an extensive menu and quality food. Stopped in for dine-in dinner on a rainy evening. The interior was bright and the energy all around was positive. There were about 6 other families seating for dinner. The menu is super extensive featuring a great selection of Afghan food that's made to order. I offered the chicken and shrimp kabob combo that came with rice, pita, and a salad. It was delicious! My mom ordered the salmon salad and I was surprised at how much salad she received. They pretty much gave her two fillets, which for the price, was great to see. The service and all the staff were great and very nice. I was able to joke with guy behind the register as well as one of the team members that were what cleaning up and bussing tables. My only critique was the the green sauce that came with both entrees lacked a ton of flavor. I've only had authentic Afghan food one other time, so I can't say for sure if it's just my palate or if it's supposed to be a mild sauce. And in conclusion...... I love the food at this place, the staff is great, and the prices are good. But there is a downside. Some of the people who come to this place are some of the rudest, most self absorbed people you will ever come across. I'll use this one experience as an example. When I walked up to the counter I waited for someone to order tand then it was my turn. The cashier asked me to hold on a minute, no problem. She returns and coming up fast behind her was a guy that had seated his family at a table. I was only about a foot away from the cashier, standing right in front. He squeezes in front of me, almost touching me with his back side and just starts asking her questions. Then he starts to order. She looked at me as if she wanted to say something but he was just firing off his order. He just orders turns around and walks back to the table. I have to admit he did look a little inbred so maybe he's just stupid as opposed to ignorant. I got a fountain drink with my food and went and stood behind a guy waiting for someone. Another one of these guys comes up with his daughter and just gets right in front of him as if he didn't see him. He proceeds to show his daughter how to use a fountain. He's finally done and the guy in front of me (that was actually in line) goes. He finishes and some other mouth breather with a kid comes up from the side just as I started to reach out and he does the exact same thing. He just reaches out and shows this girl where the ice is. Before he can continue I was like "what in the... what is going on here? Am I ever going to get a drink?" He receeds like his hairline and I'm finally able to go. The ignorance doesn't end there. This place doesn't have "wait service" so you don't tip anyone (as a waiter). Some of the families absolutely trash the place before leaving. One night there was a group that had about 3 husbands and wives and a total of 8 kids. When they left there was food all over the tables. Like literally 1/3 of the food was not eaten and it was just dumped off the plates all over the tables. The look of it was like they were furious over something with the restaurant but it was nothing like that. It was just 3 sets of parents with no morals or concerns for anyone outside of themselves. Maybe I was just raised by decent human beings, but my parents would never leave a place that trashed. Ever. It's absolutely despicable. Do better. Be better people. read more
