Whenever I visit Maiwand Kabob, I usually order one of their chicken kabob platters or a combo platter and some appetizers. I decided to order their veggie platter this time around. I really wish I tried this earlier because this veggie dish is amazing! It includes rice, eggplant, curried chickpeas, spinach, curried potatoes and sweet peas, and a sweet pumpkin topped with yogurt. I couldn't stop eating from it even after filling a little full because everything was that good. lol. I especially loved the chickpeas and the pumpkin dish. I still love everything else that I've tried from this restaurant, but I think this veggie platter sits at the top of the list now. Ordered the grilled salmon and it was delicious! 2 thick pieces of delectably grilled salmon filets that came with saffron rice, small salad and naan bread were all tasty and with wonderful textures and seasoning. The salmon was so tender, flaky and satisfying. I will definitely go back and try more of their menu. The salmon took about 20 mins to prepare but the wait was worth it! Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that it was somewhat small and dimly lit. There were tables throughout the front of the restaurant, and the order/pickup area was at the far end. Overall, the ambiance was pleasant, and the place appeared clean. Although the staff member was busy when I arrived, he acknowledged me in less than a minute. The service was efficient, and I was in and out of the restaurant in under five minutes. My order was already waiting on the countertop. After paying for my food, I left. My order included grilled salmon, chicken kabob, rice, salad, hummus, and pita bread. I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly cooked grilled salmon that was seasoned just right. The mildly flavored, ideally textured rice and salad were good. The hummus and pita bread complemented the meal nicely. Stopped to grab a bite to eat for dinner. It wasnt busy. Thw atmosphere entering was not extremely bland but calm and clean. We ordered the Chicken Kabob that had the an Afgan still rice and spinach, potato samoas and drinks. Its self seating, therefore, we tried to get comfortable seating. The air conditioning vents in the summer seem to have been on blast. Before our food came to the table we had to relocate to feel at ease from the cold. Our food came out hot and as probably expected. It was tasty. The chicken kabobs for my plate was sparse and the veggies were pretty much not grilled seemingly a little (raw). The chicken was seasoned well and not dry. The rice and spinach were of great taste as well. The Samoas were ok as Ive had better at another location. Employees at this location of Maiwand Kabob were very friendly and helpful! I got a samosa appetizer, which comes with 6 pieces, and a chicken + chicken kabob platter, which comes with rice, a side salad, and naan. There was so much food for the price! I had a good amount leftover afterwards. There are not too many dine-in tables, but it was not particularly crowded when I visited on a weekday at dinner time, so you can probably get a seat if you want. Make sure to stand in line to place an order and pay before you sit. The staff brings your food out to your table. I will definitely return in the future! Very good food! I ordered the tikka kabob and the samosas. I has samosas in YEARS and it tasted just like I remembered them The rice was super good! One of my favorite go-to places. Love the food and really nice people. I have eaten there in the restaurant, but more frequently, take-out. Their lamb kabobs are pretty good, especially since I don't think I have eaten lamb kabobs before going here. Their kabobs typically come in a bed of rice and it comes with a side of salad, but I have swapped the two before where they are in a bed of salad with a side of rice. They give a healthy portion where for me I usually have leftovers for the next day's lunch . They have a daily special but by the time I get there for dinner they are usually already sold out of it. The tables are set up where some are community tables, others are separate. If you take it to go, don't forget to grab your own plastic ware before leaving since a few times I ended up without it in there. I had to make a airport pick up run. The flight was delayed so I stopped to grab a bite to eat. This was my first time so I just decided to just get the day's special which was Lamb Curry. The sauce was too sweet for my liking. To me, it tasted more like the butter chicken sauce than curry. I don't think that meat was cooked in the sauce. It tasted as though the meat was cooked separate and then the sauce was poured over it. Now, the naan was so good. Gentleman working the register was nice and told me it would take 15-20 minutes from the time of ordering, which I appreciated the heads up. I ordered a chicken wrap that came with fries and a soda. The wrap was tasty, with kebab chicken pieces, lettuce, tomato, and sauce in a naan bread. It came with a decent amount of fries, but the amount of chicken in the wrap was rather sparse. The naan was fresh and the perfect amount of chewy. The meal came with a green sauce condiment that while I wasn't sure what it was, tasted good to dip the fries in. Unfortunately the condiment cup had opened and spilled inside the box and made a bit of a mess. With how fast inflation has happened lately, it's hard to tell whether $13.99 for lunch is expensive or just the new normal these days. It is fine for dinner but a somewhat pricey lunch for me. They had daily specials on the menu but I didn't see lunch specials. It looked like I could get a larger plate for a few dollars more, so next time for better value I will get one of those for lunch and save half for dinner. read more

Thank goodness there are multiple locations because when the counter staff at the first location answered our questions about the menu with shrugs, we headed to a different location with the most helpful employee who answered our questions and made suggestions. We stopped by on the way to NY, mainly because of all the great reviews on Yelp. At the end we were disappointed about the prices, customer service and the quality of the food. I was not familiar with the menu but I told the guy at the counter that I want Chickpea Curry with rice and salad. He charged us $10 and we waited for the food. In a minute I received a small portion of Chickpea Curry and a salad in a styrofoam plates. No rice. I was surprised to learn that curry doesn't come with rice, I have to pay extra $3.99. So at the end you end up paying $15 for fast food in un-recyclable foam plate. This is the price you pay at the fancy restaurant not a fast food place. Also, the guy at the counter could have told me that it would be better to take a combo, it would be cheaper. But no - he was too greedy and ignorant. On the positive note, the curry was pretty flavourful and tasty (for a fast food) but also too oily for my liking. I would not come back because for $15 I can eat at the good restaurant.
