Presentation looks like a decent food truck in an open parking lot, but there's something wrong with this place. We live in Millersville and I have been meaning to try this place out, so we drove to the BWI lot and didn't see them. I gave them a call and turns out they have temporarily moved to the gas station in Pasadena (for about another 2 weeks) on the corner of Jumper's Hole and Ritchie HWY across from Walmart and we literally live only 5 minutes away! I wish I had known that, but they don't have a website from what I can see to verify their location. Anyway, we made our way there and I ordered the falafel platter and my boyfriend got chicken over rice. Then we also ordered the cheesy fries. The cheesy fries were a nice hefty amount and it came with melted nacho cheese which were perfect all the while, the fries stayed nice and crispy! I had no idea my platter also came with fries, so I probably didn't need both but it's hard to pass up cheesy fries. All in all, we loved our food and it was a generous amount for the price. We were both extremely full. We'll definitely go here again before they move back to the BWI lot! read more

I had never had Halal before, but this place is so freaking good. The only problem is that now I'm disappointed any time I get halal anywhere else and this place is over an hour from home. A must try if you're in the area!! NY Halal Food is a food court located in the BWI cell phone lot. I tried their mixed platter which has chicken and lamb in it! I thought the chicken and lamb were cooked really well and you could taste the slight char to it. I got the sauce on the side and they packaged it really well where it was wrapped up in tin foil to make sure it didn't spill. The service was relatively quick. Very easy to find, just navigate to bwi cellphone lot. Parking is free for an hour! Be mindful that there are no tables or chairs, so you'd have to eat on your car, or on the grassy area. I ordered the chicken and lamb platter, and asked for no rice. My total came out to be $13.20 after tax. When I paid, they mentioned it came with a free drink, so I got myself water. When I finally got to my car, excited to indulge on this meal, I found I had nothing but rice under my meat. I explicitly asked for no rice. There was no miscommunication, because I asked what was in the plate (meat, rice, lettuce, sauce), and they confirmed they would do no rice. I didn't notice until I ate some meat, since they do pile on the meat and sauce! Since I needed other textures, I went back and informed them I asked for no rice, and only got rice. I simply wanted them to dump my meat onto a bed of lettuce. They argued saying that since I ate some, I would have had to buy a brand new one. After I repeated myself, saying I only wanted the lettuce that's supposed to come with it, they threw some on top and gave my food back to me. The lettuce added the extra crunch into the texture, and made the meal almost perfect. Most importantly, the cook/server was unsanitary. He had a glove on but he used the same gloved hand to receive money (mine and the people ahead of me) and to prepare my food. The service was lousy. Here's a petty issue: I asked for a 'yee-ro' (gyro) and the guy looked at me and asked "you want a jy-ro?" The food was just OK. Instead of pressed meet from the spindle or donner style, it was little cubes of lamb. And it was messily wrapped. Friendly staff and the food is cooked to order so there's about at 10 minute wait. I also get the chicken and lamb over rice, it comes with a little salad and tomatoes on the side. I also get extra white sauce and red sauce - to me the red sauce is not hot at all, I do eat a lot of spicy food, but I absolutely cannot take the red sauce at Halal Guys, this is a much milder sauce, so don't be intimidated if you are. The white sauce also lacks the same flavors as the white sauce I've had at other places, could use just a little more seasoning. A LOT of food plus a drink for the price $10.99. What a deal! It was clear that people come to this airport parking lot JUST to get food from this food truck. The service was great too. Very nice! Food came out within 10 min of ordering. We live 2 hours away but usually fly in & out of BWI. We have never found a decent place to get food around here until this evening. (I always add a pita on the side, so I can make my own little halal burrito) For less than 9 dollars. You get a bowl of food that weighs 2 pounds. The food is fresh, delicious and hot. If you paid 12 bucks you wouldn't be mad. I'd you're into spicy, you're in luck. Add a few lines of the red sauce, and youre spitting flames. The guys who run it are awesome. They really know how to make you feel warm and welcome, and always carry nice conversation. The only reason I haven't reviewed it sooner is out of selfishness. When you find a hidden gem you're reserved to share it.... but I feel like I'm doing everyone a disservice by not telling them to GET OUT OF YOUR CAR AND ORDER A PLATTER WHILE YOURE WAITING FOR YOUR PERSON TO LAND. I haven't written a review in years. Until today. And for the record, I am literally writing this having stuff myself full about 20 minutes ago. Today was my first time trying the NY Halal Food Cart at the BWI Cellphone Lot and let me tell you, I will come back here just for the food and regardless of whether or not I'm picking up someone. Like many of you who, sitting in your car are probably googling this spot and maybe even reading this review, I didn't know what to expect. And when I saw the reviews, I more or less bolted out of my car. I think you should too. Like right now. Are you still reading? Ok then... Now, if you're still reading and not dashing over to put in your order (you should get the lamb and chicken platter or the gyro...or do what I did and get both), let me tell you something. The food is spectacular. The lamb and chicken platter was loaded with incredible rice and meat. The seasoning of the lamb and chicken were perfect. The same must be said of the gyro. The chunks of meat are significant and frankly, I thought I'd tear my bicep from picking up the gyro that was so considerately double-wrapped for its journey out of the cellphone lot and eventually into my stomach. And hyperbole aside, what they charge is beyond fair. And in this economy, like anyone, would appreciate a good bang for your buck. Fair value and deliciousness, what more can you ask for. Talk about a surprise, and I'm not usually timid about hitting up food trucks and hawkers stalls anywhere in the world. But to be 100% honest, a halal meat truck in the cell phone waiting lot of the Baltimore Washington International airport just seemed a tad sketchy. To make matters worse, as many times as I've been to that same cell phone lot I've never seen anyone there. "Strange," I always thought to myself. But as I sat in my car I saw several people go up and order, and they weren't order Snapple iced tea or hot-dogs. So, I pulled up my big boy pants, got out of my car and walked over to the cart. To my pleasant surprise, it smelled FABULOUS! I ordered! Straight up, the lamb with rice platter was the best I've ever had, anywhere, and I've been to over 120 countries (although admittedly most aren't of Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean origin). But that is beside the point, it was wonderful. So simple and yet spectacularly delicious. The owner grilled the lamb on a hot top inside this tiny little cart. The white and red sauces were delicious and added a wonderful depth of flavor without masking the flavor of the grilled lamb. The long-grain rice was perfectly done and aromatic. It was 20$ for 2 chicken and lamb platters we got it spicy and they gave us lots of sauce and gave each of us a huge portion of rice and meat, it even had some lettuce and tomatoes to freshen it up! Today I decided to give NY Halal Food a try for lunch, and let me tell you, IT HIT THE SPOT PERFECTLY. Something told me this gem in the middle of the BWI cell phone parking lot had potential.
