I grew up in the Middle East, and Abu Shawarma is the place I go whenever I miss it. The food is delicious, hearty, and authentic. Their toum (garlic sauce) is phenomenal. The owners are also incredibly kind people.

    Chicken Shawarma Wrap

I've been wanting to try Abu Shawarma since they opened and finally got the chance last weekend. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and took it to-go. The inside of the restaurant was spacious and bright, and the employee that rung me up was pleasant and friendly. The food was 10/10, for me. The wrap was crispy, the shawarma inside delicious and juicy, and the sides a perfect accompaniment. It was a rainy, chilly Saturday and I'd been running around doing errands all day. That meal filled me up with the warmth and love and nourishment I needed to keep going. I've caught myself craving it almost every day since! Highly recommend!

Food was great, customer service was one of the best I have ever experienced, and view and setting were also pleasurable.

I tried the delicious chicken shawarma wrap (to-go) and eyed up the cheesecakes (next time!).

I not only recommend Cozy Café, I shout from the rooftops to go here now!…read more Whenever I have company or family coming into town, old Ellicott and Cozy Café specifically are my first thoughts. One time my partner was standing outside with one of our doggos and I was inside ordering us coffee/breakfast. The owner came up to me and told me that we can bring our dog in. I couldn't figure out how he even knew that they were my people or how he saw them because they weren't standing near windows or doors. But that just shows how much they pay attention to their customers. When I found out that they had coffee flights after I already had been going there for months, I about about lost it. You can choose iced or hot and they come with a variety of flavors. They even top it off with different pastries! Those pastries go with the flavors. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Cozy Café. This is a staple in my house and it should be a staple in yours!

So the flight was for different ice lattes paired with a pastry, which was a croissant a Blondie brownie, a macaroon and lastly.strawberry cake for $25. It took a while for the flight to be prepared because I think they're a little bit shortstaffed on a Monday morning, but they had a lot of comfortable places to sit and wait. The corn beef sandwich came out good and I mentioned it was simple because it's literally just corn beef with some white bread and some cheese, but it was actually pretty tasty for breakfast. The coffee flight came out and it's on a large paddle and it looked really delicious. I have to say the regular flavored lattes and the croissant weren't my favorite choices, but as I started moving down the paddleboard towards flavored lattes and the Blondi bar, it was pretty good. My favorite latte was the butter beer and my favorite pastry actually turned out to be the Blondie brownie bar. The inside has enough seating for about 50 people and it's really cutely decorated. I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the mood for a coffee after a day of shopping in Ellicott city.

After that, they went from a small coffee shop window to a full kitchen. They have sandwiches, pizza, breakfasts, and coffee of all kinds. It has so much promise, but sadly I find it to be a let down. Every time I'm here the coffee and food is just average. My sandwich sounded so good, but the bacon was not crisp, couldn't taste the jam in it, and just seemed like the turkey sandwich I pack for my lunches for work. The biggest benefit of this place is the outdoor seating. On a nice day, it is the best place to hang out with a half decent cup of specialty coffee.

I don't think I've ever said this before, but there was way too much cheese on the pizza. You couldn't even pick it up without the cheese falling off. The cheese was about four times thicker than the actual crust was underneath the pizza. If they redid their pizzas and put less cheese on, it, added some seasoning to the sauce or on top of the pizza. It would definitely be a hit. However, the pizzas we got were not and that's why I'm giving this place three stars.. the pizza which was OK would've gotten two stars.

People do seem to respect the 90MIN seating window though so you should be able to find a seat. You order and pay at the counter first and then they give you a table number card. This is how they find you to serve your food. I ordered a regular matcha latte, a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on croissant bread and their famous croffle. I loved their matcha latte. It's pre-sweetened so no need to add extra vanilla syrup or anything. This does not taste like a traditional matcha, which in my opinion tastes like dirt. This is a sweeter, dessert like matcha. I didn't care for the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It was kind of dry and it tasted like something was missing. The croffle was amazing. It has a nutty, pecan like taste to it and it was topped with vanilla gelato and blueberries. I couldn't really taste the maple syrup but it was delicious nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the cappuccino, and I like that they offer agave as a sweetener. That said, I do wish the cappuccino had a bolder coffee flavor. On its own, it leaned a bit too milky for my taste. However, once I added an extra shot, it made a big difference, I got the richer coffee flavor I was looking for along with an extra boost. The temperature was good, but I did notice that even when I requested it extra hot, it came out the same each time, which was a bit puzzling. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars. It's a nice spot, and I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

The lentil soup was not blended (as it should be) and had little to no salt. The shawarma platter (which I thought would be an actual platter not a sandwich with sides), was alright. Finally, we got a piece of harissa on our way out and it was decent (just a little too cold for my liking). Our waitress was nice and attentive. The ambiance is cute.
