Black Desert is the place for golf bros, not for people like me. It's just like Palm Springs now. They had a singer at a bar in the lobby and the Golf Bro swagger is not for me. They're absolutely going to ruin Red Mountain, too. They're going to litter up Snow Canyon. I like the views best at Red Mountain. I have visited that spot many times over the past 27 years. I loved how it was walkable to the entrance of Snow Canyon and had unobstructed views of the red sand cliffs and a lava field with a trail. It was so peaceful sitting in my room with the door open, overlooking the lava field. Or lying in a hammock while watching the sunset colors on the red cliffs, or the moonrise, or a storm roll in. Losing my peaceful place to this overblown and overpriced "perfection is not for me." So, ultimately, they lost a customer. Also, it's the desert, and I just don't see how golf in the desert is sustainable with there already being a ton of golf. Everyone else can enjoy this, but I'm going to cry over the peace that was. 1 star because the staff were really nice and listened to me being upset about Red Mountain Resort being destroyed by the company they work for. But only 1 star because none of them have a deep understanding of what I loved about Red Mountain Resort with its funky older buildings, peace, and quiet. On Saturday, we came back to the room in the early afternoon to grab some water and things and then head back out. As we were walking into our room, we noticed the housekeepers were there, and it was very odd to see a purse, a tablet, and a plastic bag with stuff in it outside of our room. Housekeepers are not supposed to have personal belongings on their shift. We didn't think anything of it at the time, they ended up leaving before we did. Hours later, we come back and realize that our luggage had been touched. My luggage was unzipped and on the ground before I left. I come back to see that my stuff was put in my luggage. It was zipped up and standing up on its wheels. Which was very odd as I have never experienced that. My mom also went to her luggage and noticed the same thing that both of her luggage's were zipped up, which we thought was very odd since housekeeping should not be touching our personal belongings. I go into the bathroom to the side cabinet and notice my jewelry box was zipped up. I told my mom and she went to go check her jewelry box that was in her luggage that was zipped up and sadly she opens it to realize that a vintage ring, that's 25 years old, and a necklace from her best friend who passed away, was missing. We immediately called the front desk as we wanted to file a report. We later went to the front desk and spoke to a gentleman who then had his security manager come and filed the report. We told them how we thought it was very odd that housekeeping should be bringing their personal belongings on their shift and we also told them how violated we felt with them touching our personal belongings. We were told that HR would be involved, and housekeeping management would be involved as well. The next steps were the housekeepers would be spoken to, security footage would be reviewed, and someone would be in contact with my mom. It has been over three weeks and no one has contacted my mom. Last week I reached out to a gentleman who is a founding partner of Black Desert resort and explained the situation and asked for help. I also asked that the least they can do is refund my mom for this trouble and the poor communication. I have asked three times now for them to refund my mom due to the lack of communication and urgency of this incident. Other hotels and resorts have refunded customers for way less and I shouldn't have to ask multiple times due to this unfortunate inconvenience. I'm hoping this will be handled soon. I will not be recommending this place to family or friends.

And there were ZERO other children. Every parental nerve was standing on high alert. Come to find out, only after seeing a flyer posted on site, Zion Ponderosa was hosting an adult's only event. NO WHERE ON THE WEBSITE was this listed. How dare you market yourself as a family friendly resort then host an event ON THE ENTIRE PREMISES intended ONLY for 18+ years. And because these were the only accommodations we made (we obviously didn't think we would need a plan B) every other accommodations were fully booked. Which meant, we drove all day for nothing. We planned and spent for nothing. Our kids missed their experience all because your resort mislead us by omitting very important details. So now we are driving home at night, past bedtime, disappointed, sad, and pretty livid. If you have an adults only event, POST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE, for those of us who are bringing minors. It's common sense and common courtesy.

At 500 sq. ft, it feels spacious and serene, with a sitting area over looking the river below, blackout drapes, soaking tub, seperate walk-in shower, pillow-top mattress, workplace, and a 55" TV that my man really appreciates. But the best part is the large private balcony with seating and a direct view of The Watchman, one of Zion's most iconic peaks. Sunrises and sunsets from here are epic. Your stay includes, wifi, parking, year-round access to the outdoor pools and hot tubs, fire pits, fitness center, bathrobes and slippers, ac/heat, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and fresh coffee each morning near the lobby. On-site you'll also find a restaurant by the name of Anthera, and a spa, both of which I recommend. With 53 rooms, the property doesn't feel like just another standard hotel. What truly sets it apart though, is what lies just behind it, the lush riverside gardens. Ending your day sitting by the river, listening to the water move past as your thoughts quiet and your whole body softens. In the morning expect to see a lot of deer grazing in the grass areas. It's genuinely spellbinding. If the restaurant on property doesn't interest you there are other walkable options nearby and this property does not allow pets. Come to find out Shem is German/Danish and it really showed in their design of the house. They allowed our pets. There are two resident cats who are adorable! Lisa and Shem were the best! They accommodated us with a world class shower amenities which was great! We were also able to use the patio area as well. They also had a garden and chicken coup. Very clean, very organized. They provided us with information of local restaurants and bistros. We will be back to Utah and stay at the Zion Cliff Lodge because we didn't see nearly enough of beautiful Utah.

It was not made clear during the reservation process that Room 3 does not have a standard shower. Instead, it has a claw-foot tub with a handheld shower head that must be held while showering, or the tub can be used for bathing. I believe this should be clearly disclosed so guests can make an informed decision before booking. The description of "European style shower" does not make it clear that you cannot take an actual shower in the room. We actually wound up getting passes for the Zion canyon hot springs just so we could shower during our stay. I understand this is a historic inn, but that does not eliminate the expectation of basic accommodations, such as a functioning toilet seat and an adequate supply of toilet paper. When we checked in, the toilet seat was cracked, and there was only a half roll of toilet paper provided. I messaged to ask where I could find more, and I was told someone would bring it that evening. By 9:00 p.m., nothing had arrived, so I followed up and asked whether I should go to a nearby store to purchase toilet paper and a replacement toilet seat, since the one in our room was broken. The owner/manager called me and said, "I didn't realize this was such a crisis for you." I found that response unnecessarily dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. He also told me the toilet seat would not be repaired during our stay, but then explained where I could find additional toilet paper myself. I was disappointed that this information was not provided when I first asked several hours earlier. The following day, the toilet seat was replaced. I guess although he didn't think it was a "crisis", he did realize having a functioning toilet seat was important. The inn has historic charm, but the property appears run down and in need of better maintenance. It is possible to preserve the character of a historic building while still keeping the infrastructure and basic amenities up to standard. This place has a great deal of potential, but in its current condition and with the current level of management, it does not meet the expectations of a 3-, 4-, or 5-star stay. The highlight of our visit was leaving the inn to eat breakfast at Oscar's. The food was delicious and this was the best part of our stay. There is no one consistently on site to assist with issues that arise during a stay, no traditional check-in or check-out process, and no one actively monitoring the property. Unfortunately, the combination of poor communication, dismissive management, and the lack of basic amenities resulted in a disappointing experience. I would not recommend staying here.
